    The best thing about Fable was how you literally gained scars the more often you got damaged in the game. I still remember having this giant scar across my face in Fable The Lost Chapters by the end of the game. It looked so badass!

      smooth transition from melee to ranged to magic was the best in fable 2 , IMO. I mean, Skyrim can kinda do that, but it was so simple and quicker in fable 2. Pull out a gun so fast to shoot some a**holes or cast a spell, then start hacking away with a melee weapon. I miss how smooth that combat was. Fable 3 did the same thing, but let's be honest. About halfway through Fable 3 marks the end of the entire series...

      They actually had pitched an idea of a darker and grittier type of Fable, it would be set in the style of England in the 1800s and they wanted things like a Balverine Jack the Ripper, a Fable version of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, tram cars and flying machines with of course the feel and humor we know and love. The whole team was really into the idea.
      But when Microsoft heard the pitch they were like 'nah, you only tripled the money and rpgs don't make enough. Make this free to play Fable Legends instead.' Even though the whole team didn't like Legends in the first place and knew the fans wouldn't like it either.

    Fable/Fable: the Lost Chapters is a game close to my heart, I first played it when I was about nine years old, it was right after my great grandmother passed away, and the game really helped me get through a really tough time of my childhood. It's music and, weirdly enough, graphics still to this day makes me well up with nostalgia and happy memories. The other games have a more fluctuating feel for me, being very hit and miss in my opinion, but the original Fable still stands as a fantastic 9/10 for me. I love it too death, and I still want to both cry and laugh in a pure fit of nostalgia whenever I hear the background music at the guild hall.

    Fable 1 and 2 are some of my favourite games of all time, I even liked the 3rd one but it wasn't as good as the first two. I absolutley agree that Fable which ironicly was an action adventure rpg did a lot of rpg mechanics and elements better than Skyrim. I love the elder scrolls lore and Skyrim is a great game but it lacked the immersion and mystery that Fable and also Oblivion had. Fable is often considered a bit simple compared to other rpg's but it has a lot of stuff and lore going on. Its just told in a more personal fairytail story and I love it:D If I were to compare fable to any other fantasy story/universe it would be stories from the kingdom of Arnor from tolkiens universe. Its a forgotten part of the world with smaller nations and communities scattered through the wast wilderness fending for themselves. Its cozy and mysterious at the same time and they have a rich and old history.

    Guildmaster - Breton
    Twinblade - Nord
    Thunder - Redguard
    Maze - Imperial
    bandits - variation of elven, human, and beast races
    and then i'd like to take into consideration that jacks minions could be a form of daedra! Jack of blades could very well be a daedra prince imo

In fable it felt organic and it felt like it belonged in the game, the features like marriage feel more interactive and realistic, instead of running through the same two diologue options and forcing them to make u a meal lol. Zoltan Csikos you really have not played Skyrim it’s one of the biggest games ever! There are 7 to 8 major stories in Skyrim like the main storyline, the civil war between the stormcloaks and the imperials, the dark brotherhood, the thieves guild, the mages guild, the dawn guard, the Dragonborn, the 17 Daedra artifact quest line, the bards college, that’s nine quest lines!!! On top of that you have huge dungeons in Skyrim tons of side quests like murder mysteries and ghosts to find

      @@johnlevel30calhoun23 So big open world is what you need to call one game "good" over the other?
      Skyrim is a mediocre game, period. The fact that it's still played by many people after a decade later is because of the amount of QoL mods there are due to its awesome modding capabilities, but if it wasn't for that nobody would remember it at all. The magic is barebones, the combat system is a clunky mess and most areas feel the same with the exception of some. Not to mention that, while there are infinite quests, they get pretty much repetitive after a few hours in.

    • @johnlevel30calhoun23
      @johnlevel30calhoun23 4 роки тому

      lorenzo romano your full of shit son Skyrim was the gold standard of RPGs when that game out!!! Skyrim has a huge open world full of places to explore 500 areas on the map in total no other game did that in history not even the legendary Witcher 3. Skyrim had a lot big of dungeons those dungeons were super huge and you had a gigantic map that many games would try to emulate like the legend of Zelda breath of the Wild which was largely inspired by Skyrim! Because of Skyrim Zelda finally offered side quests and main quests and weapons that break and a huge open world that was the biggest ever in the series! Because of Skyrim the Witcher 3 would surpass it by offering a huge maps, great combat, a far more intrigue story and stories and better side quests and better graphics! Now the Witcher 3 is the gold standard of RPGs! Most games changed how they do side quests because of Skyrim now games offer lots of things to do in their open worlds and tons of stuff to find.

    • @johnlevel30calhoun23
      @johnlevel30calhoun23 4 роки тому

      lorenzo romano the combat is not clunky if you know how to play which obviously you don’t you can weird magic in one hand and weapon in the other and you can dual wield magic. The customization in the skill trees was another game changer now most games because of Skyrim offer diverse skill trees in games and level them up however you want! Don’t ever talk shit about Skyrim that game was very influential in changing the gaming rpg model back in 2011 now ever game takes a lot from it! You idiots know nothing about gaming!

Or in the main storyline the blades want you to kill the grey beards leader and you feel emotion again! The first time you meet Malog Bol a daedra in Markhearth it scares the shit out of you cause the house is shaking and he is talking loud and he says he wants you to kill the person you came in the house with

    Welp, the biggest reason for me isn't in this list, I like what Fable did with Co-op, didn't effect the gameplay too much, hell in fable 2 second player is just a merc character who nets coin for their own playthrough. It let you play with a friend or family member. I loved the original game as is, and Fable 2, as lackluster as it was compared to the first, at least had that going for it and had me keep playing with my family and friends... Got to marry my girlfriend's character in Fable 3 and start a family in that. As much as I know alot of people say it'll just get in the way of development to include stuff like that in games in general, but it made the games so much more fun then just roaming around by myself, gets boring eventually. But with co-op, you have the diversity and less predictable aspect of other people. I'd stick with fallout more often if I had a friend take on stuff with, and in skyrim I barely touched any of the DLC and haven't touched it in years. Modding can only get you so far when you're alone in it. For now, I guess the best I can for the Elder Scrolls series is wait on Skyrim Together to finish, and pull out a choppy couch co-op mod for Oblivion till that happens.

    I never thought I would see my two favourite games in the same video. (though fable will always be the top) and I do agree that fable has more emotion. But I would have to disagree on the character not having a past as a reason that fable is better. That was Bethesda's idea for your dragonborn to not have a back story so you can make your own back story. Though it would have been so cool to have parents or a long lost sibling in Skyrim (and maybe even make it so if your parents abandoned you, then there would be a story on why, and if you got separated, they found you from the people talking about you and your actions and if having parents would "ruin" the players gameplay then they can make it an option that the parents just died) They said they make it a clean slate in the "behind the making of Skyrim" video part 1. Very interesting video. I highly suggest it.

    What about that one quest you do for The Goddess Mara in Riften where you bring together two souls that loved each other in real life but now they are dead so you have to reunite to souls that are in the afterlife and bring them together so they can be together forever so that doesn’t count for emotion????????? What about the fact you can get married in Skyrim! What about the fact there are tons of dungeons in Skyrim and they all look different like the dwarven ruins dungeons and the crypt of Ysgromor from the companions storyline! There are 9 quest lines in this game I don’t think Fable has that many! Every guild has its own storyline! You have 1. The thieves guild 2. The dark brotherhood 3. The civil war between the stormcloaks and the imperials 4. The main quest where you have to stop Alduin 5. The Mages Guild 6. The companions 7. The Dawnguard 8. The Dragonborn questline 9. The 17 Daedra Artifacts where you have to get the Ebony blade , the Ebony Mail, Hircine s ring, Malog Bol s mace and etc!!!

    Wtf he actually said lady grey had huge tits 😂😂😂 this guys knows his stuff ! IMO ... Fable 1 and 2 had great potential. But I can't compare to Skyrim. To me Skyrim was more serious type deal, and fable was goofy and well... It is supposed to have some sort of comedy I guess. But overall I love both, BUT if I were ever to be given a choice were I had to decide on the two... It would have to just be fable 1. this game gets me.. I don't think I've ever gotten to close to a game as I have in fable.

    I was always a bit on the fence with the changing-appearance thing in Fable. I think the best thing would be having that as an option you can choose to be "off" or "on"....like there were times where I'd prefer my evil characters still have the appearance of an ordinary, "good" person. Also... there's quite a few evil things to do in Skyrim, imo. My character certainly is *not* a "goody-2-shoes" hero.

    Fable II was the first RPG I ever played. I became obsessed but I admit that the map was tinier than any elder scrolls, and when you've finished the game theres nothing to do but fight bandits , more quests and opponents in elder scrolls swell, but fable II and
    III were still brilliant but oblivion, Morrowind and Skyrim were much better

    I always find it difficult to choose between the two at least with Fable you don’t have to hear this 50 billions times
    “Do you go to the cloud district very often... Oh what am I saying of course you Don’t”
    Or
    “I used to be an adventurer like you but then I took an arrow in the knee“ lol 😂

    Animates in Fable are way beyond that of Skyrim. Skyrim, like most elderscroll games feel clunky, robotic. Fable it was smooth, transitioned nicely. Both are great games.

    I know this video is over a year old and I can tell your a fan of Fable... I am too. Though, some of those points you made seem a bit... odd. Now I know, this is your opinion piece and I respect that... simply offering a differing opinion on this. 1.) I actually liked that Skyrim did not give the character a backstory. That means your story was left up to you to decide how your character got there. The idea that you already have a predetermined storyline I felt hurt the Roleplay experience to a degree. I determine who this character was... I determine where they came from... and I make up what they were all about even before the game started. So on that point I kinda like Skyrim better. 2.) Now on the idea of Good and Evil yes... that one Fable did better I cannot dispute that. True, you could go around murdering people but agreed that there should have been a fame or infamy effect in Skyrim. 3.) The idea of a custom story is... kind of a draw between them honestly. Skyrim has multiple ways you can play the game via mage or even a type of mage... or warrior... or what have you. Fable is similar in that regard and both have a predetermined story for both games. In Fable your seeking revenge and defeating Jack of Blades... Skyrim you must defeat Alduin. So... in the end... that's pretty much the same with no clear victor. 4.) I dunno why you didn't feel any emotion playing Skyrim because there are some stories in it that are just... when you think about it are pretty serious. I respectfully disagree on that point because I did so... I dunno again I consider that one again a draw. 5.) On appearance Skyrim almost 100% was better. Everything was customizable and what's more it took the extra step in that even if you were taking the evil choices you didn't have to take a evil visage. You got to choose... whereas Fable assumes if you act evil you wanna look evil. And that might be the case most of the time, but, I think it was a benefit to always make it a choice to the player how they're seen at anytime even if they're playing the evil route. 6.) Now that Fable has Skyrim beat on and it's something I wish they had implemented. While I disagree on the predetermined evil look... I do think Skyrim should have changed based on the choices you made. Now true there are some smaller moments that change things... but by and large Fable in that point absolutely executed it much better on the whole. 7.) Now, for Mystery and Collectables... okay... on that point in terms of collectibles Skyrim has it beat. There are TONS and I mean literal TONS of unique and named items to find throughout the game. Holy crap it's been years and I still have found all of them to this very day! So collectibles Skyrim... completely. Now, if your discussing puzzle solving... oh god Skyrim sucked at that... their puzzles were SO EASY.. Fable's puzzles were much better. However, I think with the exception of puzzles Skyrim... actually did a better job of adding interesting items to find through exploration. 8.) On comedy... okay yeah Fable wins that one. I'm not arguing that one your absolutely right. 9.) On experience gain yes... hell the combat system in Fable was just all around better as well as the experience system. Frankly, Skyrim's combat system was not at all it's strongest point... and the experience gaining in that game was so easy to exploit and cheat once you knew what you were doing. Hell, Skyrim doesn't even have a dodge system without mods so... yeah that one also goes to Fable. 10.) Well... Lady Grey is cool and all... but Skyrim has mods where I can do Lady Grey and up you by the millions of Scantily clad followers so... ehh… Skyrim on that one.
    It's not that you didn't give valid points that I myself cannot deny, but, some of the points comparing the two really didn't make sense to me. Thus, felt I had to at least semi rebuttal your arguments to some degree. Anyway, still a great video and though I'm over a year late thanks.

    @ThePebblechan 5 років тому

    1:04 I see where you’re going with this, but the reason why Skyrim doesn’t have such a thing is:
    A.) The Dragonborn is more or less supposed to be easily customizable so that they can TRULY feel like the players own. And the player is somewhat supposed to MAKE their own backstory and give a reason as to why the DB is there. It may feel cheap but for some players they actually prefer it this way.
    and
    B.) If you give the DB a forced backstory like the Hero of Oakvale, then you won’t be able to feel as justified to wander freely for days on end. Skyrim is a big world unlike Albion (in a gaming sense) and there’s a lot to do. So if you send the DB on a quest for revenge it won’t feel right to do other things (like join the Dark Brotherhood or solve the Murder in Markarth). And it can end up not feeling as immersive. This happened with Fallout 4.

    I love Fable..But Lady Grey is a cnut.
    Lydia is the girl for me.
    even if I do occasionally shout her from a height.
    They are both great games,with different strengths and flaws....
    I think Morrowind vs Fable would be a more interesting comparison,because of Morrowind's bias toward a detailed magical system and deep interactivity globally,and Fable's bias toward humor,atmosphere customisation and polish..Love that Elfman music though..Morrowind's is nice as well...

  • @darkhelm2545

    There is something fable did well and something Skyrim did well only if there is someone who can combine the detail of both game into one then that game will become a master piece for a while (and if one day there is a game like that please don’t let it have mod limitation... ;P) but I personally love Skyrim more due to I can go first person(and mean first person where I can do stuffs...) and the female characters looks more sexy after I put some mod on ;))))) while fable looks more cartoon like which is fine but not my style.(but the moral system in fable is such a good idea XD)

    Why did they stop making Fables, like normal Fable games. Imagine a fable on PS4, they could change the graphics to be realistic, add lots of story choice. Mabye add guilds and have guild wars? have a god of war- like combat system. Could leave albien and go elsewhere.

    Join me in making a fable where the Darkness took over Albion because the hero of Brightwall fucked up. Bring it back to tlc and 2 mechanics, and make it being story/plot-heavy or whatever it was work better than in 3. Of course, you can still do all the serious stuff with a chicken suit.

  • @firstlast-wg2on
    @firstlast-wg2on 6 років тому

    I think Skyrim did morals better, except for the main quest. For number 2, good and evil was pigeonholed in fable, there were no complex morals, just good vs evil, and Skyrim allows you to do what you want.

  • @aftmostfools

    With #1, you are part of the story, so much so that it won’t progress until you do something. But, most players in Skyrim try to avoid the story and do their own thing any ways, Fable’s a bit more streamlined that way.

  • @toopoorto9977

    I'm sorry but even though i love both games, i don't understand how you can compare two different games together! Like for instance, Skyrim magic system or any elder scrolls is way more cooler and has way more spells than any fable combined.
    Skyrim: You kill someone in Windhelm but travel to say whiterun, nobody is going to know you killed someone.
    Fable: You kill someone in a village and travel across the world, everyone knows you murdered someone and they all hate you!
    Skyrim: Dungeons are epic and great for those who love to explore, rewarding and a great way to get really into the game.
    Fable: The few dungeons they hold are ok but not as cool as any of the elderscrolls.
    I mean you can slay dragons and kill dadra Lord's and battle in armies in Skyrim. Fable is always the same and not as free!

    skyrim did not feel as epic to me. half of the missions you played in skyrim were mutherfuckin fetch quests and delivering letters to people. I liked fable a lot more than skyrim, and I wish they would bring fable back. I soooo agree with you on the story. in skyrim, you just felt like some person who got hitched along on these quests to save the world. in fable, you actually feel like a hero. your actions actually have an impact on the world around you, whereas in skyrim I felt like my actions weren't really affecting the world much. I love fable so much and fable was the whole reason why I made the switch to xbox. after fable disappeared, I just went back to ps4, wii u, pc gaming. I don't give two shits about xbox anymore.
