Here is a quick review of the new Magpul PRS Lite. I re-uploaded this video after finding another small flaw and added a segment discussing it. If you have already watched this video and you just want to watch the added segment you can skip to the 13:57 mark.

The reason the stock doesn't fit right is because the Radian end plate is a QD mount. Put a mil-spec plate on and it will be the correct fit.
No shit
Bravo for a pro/con review. I should receive mine today. I don't find the back and forth play of the LOP to be a problem. Pressure from the shoulder and recoil will always keep it solid forward. I also don't think the cheek riser play will matter. If anything, a rubber or nylon gromet placed under the front of the cheek piece will eliminate the play. Thanks for pointing out those area regardless! I'd be more inclined to buy products based upon honest reviews like this!
Thanks for the update and complete review. Great job on the review.
Thank you!
Transparent, thorough, and honest review. Very well done, sir. Subscribed.
Thank you!
Thanks Brad for being honest and producing the best PRS Lite review out there!
Thank you! I greatly appreciate your feedback!
Thanks for the unbiased review. Ordered mine today. The small issues you discovered shouldn’t be too big of a problem but only time will tell. Gonna run this on my AA 308 SF piston rifle.
How do you like it?
I had play back and forth when I installed it on my PA10 Gen III. I just used a small piece of Velcro on the buffer tube where it is on a angle. I used the stiff Velcro. (Male part.) And I have had it out to the range a few times now. It is rock solid.
Happy i came across this video, i didn't know i could get precision cut foam pads for this stock! Cant wait to get it in the mail
I'm about to begin a similar 6mm ARC build using the PRS lite. Thanks for showing the differences and how your install went.
Awesome! I’m glad it was helpful. Good luck with your build!
Just received my PRS lite. Easy install on my Aero Precision AR 10. No movement at all on the extension. Cheek riser slightly flexes, so I wedged a small piece of neoprene rubber under the front edge and it cut down on the flex- did not totally eliminate the flex but “ no big deal.” Does not bother me at all. Very happy with the purchase.
Thanks for the review!
I like the look of these as well as the price point. I'd love to get one to try out on my 18" SPR build. Nice job on modifying it a bit to fit better. Love that camo pattern on that rifle by the way. I would prefer the easier adjustments of the PRS gen 3, but it's a good compromise. That Arken scope looks like a beast! Thanks for the great review on this stock....definitely will helps folks decide if they want to save a few bucks and get this version.
Thanks brother! I had to re-upload the video to add in the play in the butt stock. But despite the play, I still think the weight savings makes up for its flaws.
@@faithkillsfear yea I’d rock that stock! Weight savings is huge when moving around with a rifle. Love how that thing came together! What a beauty!
@@ChristianGrest yeah I am thrilled with how it turned out! Thanks man!
Great Review. I have two of these being delivered. I'll post if I have the same issues. Thanks.
Brownells has this stock on sale for $85 right now. Best price I have seen for a PRS style stock.
Great review. Question on the blanked plugs at the rear. Are they for QD mounts as I can't find any info on that. I took mine off and the holes are too big.
Very good info.
Thank you
I added a 1.5 inch by 1 inch piece of 3/16 inch thick neoprene rubber under the cheek riser. It really firmed it up. Like I previously said, I have no movement what so ever with the extension piece on my Aero Precision AR10. I'm very happy with it.
How did you attach the rubber pad? I’m curious. Because I have a aero precision AR-10 as well.. and looking to run this stock
@Daniel Rodriguez it just fit right snuggly under the riser. No adhesive was used. If I needed an adhesive I would have used double sided tape
@@richardharvey3104 thanks for the heads up..
I actually really really like these, running it on a 13.9 pin and welded build
Overall I like it a lot. But I still hope they do a V2 and fix some of the slop
Just got one myself for my DMR/SPR build, sadly magpul was out of normal buffer tubes so I got their " Enhanced Extension " , no big deal. I'll still be able to collapse as small as normal, but will have 3 more adjustment points in case I want to make the LOP longer. I suppose it actually will make more sense for my build as well once I get the barrel work done.
Good review…does the lightweight version feel just as durable as the original? The cheek riser seems like it could be a bit weak / easy to break
Great review....I just installed one on my son's AR10 308 build today. Sadly, I got the same issue with the loose parts including the forward piece toward the end plate. What a shame...maybe Magpul can explain how to correct the sloppiness.
Thank you! Yeah. I was a bit surprised to find the movement once everything is tight. Maybe Magpul will update it 🤷♂️
Some dense foam under the cheek pad to reduce movement should do the trick.
What’s the sense of having an adjustable precision stock if it’s not rock solid in any position. That’s just not going to work for me. I’m going to have to go with the gen. 3. I know it’s more money, and heavier, but the more ease of adjustment, and being more solid just means more to me than lighter, and less money.
Is that an a builders set or cerakote?? looks really nice. would love to see a follow up once you have some rounds down range
Thank you! It’s actually a Radian Model 1 builder set which I purchased directly from them already Cerakoted in the multicam. And I definitely plan to post a build update and shooting video. So stay tuned!
Just subbed you might be the only dude who did a review on this stock. Now do a video on the whole build. I like the look of that rifle. What scope and barrel length is that
Thank you! I plan to do some videos on my various builds including this one. The scope is an Arken Optics, and the Barrel is a BSF Barrels 18”.
@@faithkillsfear how do you like the 18”? Im torn between 18 or 20” for a DMR build.
@@tacticalsamurai9851 I am taking it to sight it in and shoot it for the first time this next week. So I can’t speak on the performance yet but I can say I love the balance and look of the 18”. And when I called BSF to ask which length would be best for a 6mm arc and they said 18” would be great. I’ll report back when I finally see how it performs.
@@faithkillsfear awesome good to know. I was building a 556. I would do a 308 but not with these joe biden prices lmao
I can’t seem to find one of those rubber cheek pads online anywhere, where do you buy those? Thanks
Hoptic USA sells them. “Kraken” gets you free shipping
Since tools are necessary to make adjustments, is the PRS considered a fixed stock/California compliant?
I’m not a lawyer but being a LEO here in California, I would say with 99% certainty it would be considered a fixed stock just like the PRS Gen 3 is.
Any wobble or play in the stock itself ?
Wish it would fit the Sig tread 308
Yes to many issues with how they designed it and my fear is that over time those small movements will become more exaggerated.
Thanks for a great review. But it would be much easier to hear the travel of the stock without background music though.
Yeah. I agree. I’ve given up on the idea of constant background music. But I don’t want to delete these videos and re-upload them either.
Does it matter if I have mil spec or commercial spec buffer tube? On AR 15
Magpul's website says it's for milspec carbine length buffer tubes
Wanted one until I saw you needed an Allen wrench to adjust it
What is the scope mount on this build?
It’s a Arken Optics Mount
What's the name of the pad you put on the cheek riser? Thanks!
It’s made by Hoptic USA and it’s called their “saddle blanket”. “KRAKEN” will score you free shipping 👊🏼
@@faithkillsfear Thank you, sir.
Will this fit a rifle length buffer tube???
No. A5 or carbine length only
Does it use standard m4 buffer tube or the longer A2 buffer tube?
It will accept carbine and A5 length buffer tubes
@@faithkillsfear thanks
Can I use this stock on a riffle buffer tube system ?
No. It’s only usable on the A5 and carbine AFAIK
You using a rifle buffer tube or a carbine buffer?
Im using an A5 Buffer and buffer tube
Great review! But, the music drove me nuts.
Thank you! Tbh it drives me nuts also. Which is why I stopped using music in most of my newer videos.
so it don't use the normal holes on the buffer tube to hold it stable?
No it uses a pin which locks in front of the 45° chamfer which leads up to the multi position holes on the buffer tube
ok thank you! Do you still use the stock?@@faithkillsfear
@@temptedadverse I do still use it.
Do you think this will work for 5.56 and using a h2 weight?
It should work for any AR15/AR10 platform with a carbine or A5 buffer tube extension. It just won’t fit on a rifle length buffer tube.
What does an H2 weight have to do with the stock?
@@barrymccaulkener8828 new to the AR world. I have read certain types have their own buffer systems. Never hurts to ask i say!
What Is The Name Of Leather Sleeve You Have On Your PRS AR 10
If you are talking about the small neoprene pad on the cheek riser, it is made by Hoptic USA
I just got my prs light and I have to say I’m not a fan. Even completely collapsed the only thing preventing the stock from sliding back on the carbine buffer is a single tension screw (I’m not talking about the adjustable part, I mean the entire stock moves) I’m using an aero precision carbine tube I don’t know if it’s an issue with the way the aero tubes are sized (they are supposed to be mil spec) but with moderate force you can pull the entire stock back about a quarter inch away from the castle nut. This method of attachment to the tube is sub par. A fixed stock should be way more secure than this. Personally I’d rather go with the regular prs and an a2 buffer.
Like you I’m not impressed either, disappointed and having the same issue on my AR10 with Aero Precision buffer tube. Mine also didn’t come with the pin to hold the locking mechanism for cheek riser and the charging handle hits it even when it’s at the lowest setting. Mine also has no QD points and presume the cups didn’t come with it.
@@anthonykeel1058 I actually confirmed with magpul customer support that aero precision buffer tubes are not ideal for magpul products. Even tho aero claims their tubes are “mil spec” they actually deviated from the colt footprint. Magpul recommended I get a VLTOR buffer tube. I got a VLTOR tube and it works perfectly. The issue is 100% with aero precision, at least as far as the fitment issue on the tube I was describing goes. Hope this helps.
@@Zrathor Which Veltor model? Are the Aero spring and buffer compatible?
@@anthonykeel1058 did you get the M5 assembled from aero? And it didnt work?
@@Tanya_Von-Degurechaff I don’t buy any of my guns assembled and have built everyone I have. Cheers
After doing some investigation, for a semi precision rifle, buy the B5 CPS or the LMT DMR. Leave everything else behind.
Thanks for the info, Almost pulled the trigger on one, What a POS.Now I know why they are on sale. lol
Something tells me Magpul will be ok without your purchase
You can save another pound and a half in weight by changing the Arken scope for a Leupold
Oh I agree. This thing is very nice, but it weighs a metric ton.
@@faithkillsfear I agree they are a great value good quality for the money or the price point but I don’t think they are a good fit for a Hunting set up. If you’re trying to save weight I own three of them but I use them on heavy, tactical rifles, my hunting Rig Get Leupolds
@@Pew_pewchronicles I agree. I am putting a SIG Cross together and I was going back and forth between a Leupold and the Vortex Razor HD LHT 3-15x42. Ended up going with the vortex. It was like $300 (i want to say the Leupold was in the $900-1100 range) more expensive than the equivalent Leupold but it only weighs 19.1 ounces. I havnt mounted it yet but the glass is amazing
Mine doesn't have any of those issues
That’s very interesting. Maybe I should call magpul 🤷♂️
Magpul always does that with new products. They tease them for seasons upon seasons until you don't care anymore and then they release it...
Hahahah! That is 100% correct
I think your end plate backward
It is not backwards. These Radian end plates are fantastic and are not able to be installed backwards. It would not mate up to the rifle properly if it was installed backwards
A cheap cheek pad is mole skin. When it gets worn just peel it off and replace it.
Interesting design, but it doesn’t seem particularly well executed? That’s unusual for Magpul…
I just wish they would have added a second support post for the cheek riser so it would be rock solid. And idk how they could fix the play in the length of pull adjustment but it certainly feels like a miss in the engineering department
Why on earth do you need a 6-24 scope on that rifle?? 😂
A little play! Big deal
That length adjustment screw is absolute garbage it breaks after a week. Put this on a knights armament sr15 and Daniel defense mk12 both broke and no longer adjustable. Absolute trash. Stock is best
See you're problem is you're talking about the stock instead of using it.
You’re probably correct except for your use of you’re 😂
@@faithkillsfear Oh woops. But yo seriously. Your reviews would be way better. Sell the entire experience
