    I work in a TV studio, where our video switcher has 40 inputs, 16 outputs, 3 M/Es, 6 DSKs and a whole lot of buttons that I still haven't figured out how to use yet. It probably cost them half a million for the whole suite, so it gives me a chuckle whenever Blackmagic puts out one of these little ATEM boxes that does everything that live TV shows do 90% of the time.

    Oh quick tip about the Road Caster pro and the ATEM working together
    For streaming using the ATEM you can use the RCP with the right cable a "3.5mm TRS Male to Dual 1/4-inch TS Male Left/Right" (- I prefer Mogami) ---you can plug the speaker output of the RCP to the mic 1 of the ATEM , RCP (speaker out volume knob all the way up ) and in the atem software turn mic 1 to line by default it is set to mic and in mic their is a horrible buzz. And now you can use the full features of the RCP and stream from the ATEM and use the ATEM audio delay to sync up sound live if their is any audio delay. It also just make for a simpler setup in webcam mode for Skype etc.. bc u just choose the atem as the webcam and the audio source ! (Instead of webcam ATEM audio RCP - which gives you no option to sync video and audio )
    I think the ATEM should ship with that port in line mode not mic it's really confusing at first

    Thanks for the Squarespace discount! I just jumped on and started a website to drive people to my tutoring and academic coaching business. I've been doing websites off and on for more than 20 years, and Squarespace is hands down the easiest to use interface I've ever used. So pleased! Also, LOVED this video, Sara. It led to me buying a new Blue Yeti mic and doing a new Zoom video setup. Webcam is next!

    I have been working on a tablet-based open-source teleprompter and have built a foldable/portable teleprompting hood. I would love to figure out how to get it manufactured, but by the time I do, the market will probably already be saturated. Anyway! Loving the new setup. Hope you are re-acclimating to your Texas life. Can't wait to see more from you in the new office. Always inspiring!

    If you want the auxiliary function get the ATM mini extreme ISO. That model has two HDMI outs. That along with an elgato stream deck and some macros in the atem you can program the macros to pick any of the inputs on the stream deck and put it to that second HDMI out for the teleprompter !! This way your multiview never goes away you can always have a multiview screen up. As well as a second teleprompter screen

    • @saradietschy
      @saradietschy  3 роки тому +1

      Maybe one day!!! But that thing is way too big for my desk 😂 didn’t know about the 2 outs tho that’s AWESOME

    • @Reedith
      @Reedith 3 роки тому

      @@saradietschy yeah totally get that it's not that much bigger and you can get creative with the eight inputs but it's those two HDMI outs that really make it worth it ! It also has 2 usb-c ports USB c ports so you can record your stream directly to a hard drive while you're using it as a webcam to have a higher quality recording for editing afterwards.

    If you haven't hung those sound panels yet, an interesting video might be to record while you take them out of the box. In the room you did the mail opening, you will literally hear the change in the room acoustics as the pads come out of the box and are spread into the room. I used to sell acoustic foam. Unpacking in a reverberant room was a great sales tool.

  • @KevinFedde
    @KevinFedde 3 роки тому

    Late reply is late here, but you can get a cable that has 2x 1/4" audio ports to 1 3.5mm audio port, plug that from the 'speaker' port in the Rodecaster into line 1 or line 2 in the ATEM Mini pro. Then in the ATEM Mini Pro software you set the input to 'line level' instead of 'mic level' and you are off to the races!
    Also you should really look at the ATEM Mini Extreme ISO, it gives you 2 HDMI outputs PLUS 2 USB-C outputs, so you could have 1 HDMI go to the prompter, 1 for a monitor, 1 USB for recording, and 1 for webcam out for livestreaming.

    Imagine you can get elgato stream deck with constalation software and then you can create macros to control atem mini - much more fun. For example - if you modify size of the PIP picture on atem, it resets back after you position it to another corner - in elgato you can program it as macros and voila, it works awesome. I already bought a lot of stuff after your “Meet Kevin” video and went the same way as you - atem mini pro + teleprompter :)... thx for the content 👍

    Hi Sara, ...my hint... you try to figure out the desk, camera and light first. But a good method for a new room is to start with a corner where you can sit down with two people for an interview setting or just to relax during a workday. My second hint... : Your table and monitor is in front of the window, it will block natural light if you film near to your shelfs. Maybe let it sit against the wall? That way you can have artificial light left and right to the desk and natural light not blocked during the day. Enjoy! Creating a new studio is fun for sure! Greetings from the Netherlands :-)

    This is an amazing set up! It's always fun to start in a fresh space with the knowledge of your previous setups. - I have an elgato streamdeck and only use it to turn on my lights - a lot of wasted potential. I love my teleprompter - it's just a small one that uses my phone as the screen but it is so great since I can't talk and think at the same time for some reason - but I can read and talk no issue. I think it's because I'm not talking to anybody - if I got someone to talk to I'm actually pretty good.

    Hey Sara! Glad to see you're getting set up properly in TX! Interesting that those sound panels have clips to hang. Better than glue, for sure. BTW, I've used a midi sequencer to drive camera switching on the fly, remote-style, so I don't have to switch manually. The roundabout of switching can get repetitive, but it works if I'm trying to stream live and I'm playing and don't want to use either of my hands to trigger the switcher. I drive the midi with a sequencer on my keyboard, believe it or not - and the tempo dictates how fast or slow the cameras change! Haha! Now if I just had something stream-worthy to say... 🤷‍♂️
