Hey Sara! Really appreciate this longer format reviews kinda exploring the whole context around owning a product, a laptop in this scenario. It helps to understand where you fit and judge if that's the right laptop for you ✌🏽 There are just so many more things that should be taken in consideration rather than only specs
For students: I’m perfectly happy in Windowsland - and I have an iPhone and an iPad mini (because perfect size for reading books - and it turns out, for reading university ‘reading’ material - with the addition of a ‘pencil’ for highlighting and making notes to PDF’s) - in bed or on a comfy recliner chair. Sarah, USE "BETTER TOUCH TOOL" when it comes to trackpad gestures. it is hands down GOAT! trust me. click and force click gestures as well as no click swipe gestures gives you 3 dimensions or 3 layers of gesture depths, etc. trust meeeeee lol.
Been a Windows user for 17 years. Recently having more issues than ever with Windows 10. Reinstalling it didn't seem to fix much. It's so laggy after a few months, icons in my taskbar sometimes disappear, Windows Search never finds what I need despite those apps literally being correctly installed, etc etc. Don't even get me started on how horrible the updates are. Paused it to not get updates and it still got updates. I'm going to switch to Mac soon. Previously I've been an Android user for 7 years but had a good deal on an iPhone 7 and never regretted the switch. I'm not a fucking power user, I just do media consumption and I want my shit to work. iPhone just seemed to do that and I hope Macs will too. Tried Linux btw way too much of a hassle.
dipped my toes into Win10 on my MacBook & what a horrid evolution of XP - I can't believe Win10 *still* has w2k UI elements - what a hack job! made me complain less bout Catalina which I do feel is a bit bloated & excited about what an Apple Silicon mac might be like. I feel ya w Linux - tried to switch my dad over (feel this is the true litmus test!) and put him back on macOS within a week. [and to be fair, impressed how far Linux has come in the last 5-10 years] Way back I switched over from a iPhone 8 to a Pixel 3a and after 6 months w an iPadPro, the writing is already on the wall to get another iPhone in a year or two!
Linux it really depends on the distro. I would get into Macs only if you want to get caught in that gorgeous and deadly turd of their ecosystem, that thing hooks you in like nothing.
@@tomswan3401 I think it goes beyond hardware issues. It’s the new Rode Wireless Go- their smallest wireless mic kit. It has a built-in mic as well as a port for an external lav mic. I would just use a lav mic (less than $20 on Amazon) with a usb to mic/speaker dongle. Voice is great with cheap lavs 👍
Thank you for highlighting the great windows trackpad gestures, although Apple has still the best trackpad hardware especially with haptic feedback, I believe windows gestures are better shortcuts to common actions. They allow to easily swipe through apps or songs, and even adjust volume without lifting a finger from the trackpad, they fluidify the computing experience more than the macOS gestures 🙌

Sarah, I'm trying to decide between Nvidia 3080 and AMD's upcoming RDNA2 for video editing/photo editing/3D work, so general creative workflows which I will start to learn soon. I'm not sure if AMD's stuff is better for it or Nvidia's. 🤔 I feel equipped to make a decision from the gaming standpoint but not the creative side. Can you please help me decide? Thanks
NVIDIA NVIDIA NVIDIA. :) if it’s a desktop I will allow you an AMD processor for all of those sweet sweet cores on the cheap but nvidia is murdering the game right now when it comes to graphics
@Tohur Gaming isn't the same as other applications. Nvidia stuff is used better for creative workflows, on the software level. That's basically what my question was about. I think Sarah's right, Nvidia is better for all that.
@Tohur I've been reading those rumors of AMD finally catching up for easily over a decade and they always come short and if they some day they finally become true the support will not be there overnight, so if you need something reliable, tested and _now_ then go Nvidia.
@Tohur That's true for gaming. AMD still doesn't have a widely used toolchain for AI and compute; and hardware video encoding has always been subpar to NVENC. Adobe apps (among others) don't use AMD to accelerate performance on the PC. An AMD CPU with a Nvidia GPU is fine (and often preferred possibly).
See I used to be a design technician for CAD and honestly I invested in a good laptop, external drive and just a HDMI cable to a second 4k monitor. I like the portability to different rooms and places and then plugging in and having more room to work.
Which laptop do you use for CAD? What specs? I need to get one and want to work how you’re working. Laptop, external thunderbolt drive and HDMI cable to a monitor. I’m struggling to get reliable info on a laptop. THANK YOU 🙏
@@RockWILK so my laptop currently is a yoga 730 lenovo laptop. It's almost 2 years old lol but I got it because it was 1100, had a thunderbolt port, 4k resolution, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 graphics, i7, 16 ram, 1 TB storage, HDmi port, and 2 USB connections. I also got it for class so it's a 2-in-1. I chose the 15 inch model since it was easier for me to work on mobile-wise. I have run intensive files in it when I worked in Autocad Civil 3d and it did the job. I currently have switched career paths because of covid but overall I loved it for CAD.
Although I am also in favour of a clean desktop, there is something to be said for a desktop with links to your often used folders/documents when it's a work laptop. Because once your machine has booted and the desktop has loaded, you can just start typing and hit enter and it will open whatever link/document it jumped to based on whatever you typed. I've seen people use that very effectively.

[and to be fair, impressed how far Linux has come in the last 5-10 years]
Way back I switched over from a iPhone 8 to a Pixel 3a and after 6 months w an iPadPro, the writing is already on the wall to get another iPhone in a year or two!
Linux it really depends on the distro. I would get into Macs only if you want to get caught in that gorgeous and deadly turd of their ecosystem, that thing hooks you in like nothing.
Honestly use a lenovo thinkpad, a dell or a surface. Never had problems with windows on that hardware.
@@tomswan3401 I think it goes beyond hardware issues. I've been using windows since grade school until now, and I am so tired and done with having to solve my own issues with software or hardware on my own or basically "sometimes it doesn't work" thing. I am also switching to the Mac soon when they release their Macbooks with Apple chips because I just want something that works.
all the best with your switch. I switched from android to apple 4 years ago and never looked back. I think you will enjoy it. I am currently using my m1 Pro but it is comparable in some ways to my MacBook Pro 2018, considering your usage, of course.
Sara: I keep trying to make a 10 minute video.
Video so good, it feels like it was well below 10 minutes
Anyone else feel like they just witnessed a crime scene the first min of this video?
how? she’s just cutting a box.
@@SOPHIA-kx1mp it’s a joke 😂
hahahaha i agree 😂😂😂
Can you teach how/if you can use the apple keyboard with a windows laptop?
the footage being pulled off the new camera is just insane
I got my XPS 13 2-1 bc of your videos and I LOVE IT!
I think everyone is sleeping on gigabyte laptops they have all the ports in the world one of the most accurate oled displays and yeah amazing performance
What model is your dell xps 13? What cpu? Gpu? Intel i7? Intel iris?
I wanna see her face once she tries the Ryzen 9 5900X and forgets about every laptop out there and buys 10 desktops for her office
I just bought a new laptop with a Ryzen 7 and it is game-changing!
@@AndyLifeInVideo you mean gaming-changing!😉
@@AndyLifeInVideo which brand?
I'm new at your channel and already subscribed to the channel. yeah love ur videos.I would love if u make a video of top gaming laptops within a 1000$ price range...
Almost feel like apologizing for being so late. haha Goodness I love and appreciate your videos Sara, this is one I've been waiting for and wondering about. Also can imagine how excited you are about the Sony A7s III.
Hey Sara, loved the video! Very authentic and honest, as usual. Thanks!
Is that a microphone clipped on to your shirt? What brand/model is it? I am curious if will be useful for conference calls.
It’s the new Rode Wireless Go- their smallest wireless mic kit. It has a built-in mic as well as a port for an external lav mic. I would just use a lav mic (less than $20 on Amazon) with a usb to mic/speaker dongle. Voice is great with cheap lavs 👍
I also switched from Laptop to Desktop, Im using the iMac 5K 2019... an a 2017 iPad Pro
The amazing thing about the MacBook Pro 16 is it is so thin even though it’s so powerful but it’s pricey
15" MSI P65 Creator is my rig of choice - good for vids, photos, games, etc. RTX 2060, i9, ton of RAM, year old.
They way I see you single hand that XPS 13 makes me confident that it'd be the right purchase for me as I will handle it as a tablet at least a third of the time (some off the desk). You don't strike me as a swole, large person so this swayed me to purchase it 💪
What you said about investing in a desktop instead of a laptop right now...YES! I got an all in one desktop now that all of my work is from home, and let me tell ya, best purchase I’ve made this year.
I also love my Dell 2-in-1 because it’s so convenient to have my textbooks and power-points on my desktop, while I convert my laptop into a tablet for note taking.
Good Morning Sara, I await my purchase of DELL XPS 2X1 Computer next week. I really enjoy your reviews and I did purchase iVANKY 7-in-1 Hub so have the sponsor buy you a cold one!
Keep up the good work. This is my first ever UA-cam review. :}
Sara: I have projects that am working on that are literally 1terabite
Me: looking for what to delete to get more space in my 500Gb hard drive
Sara truly great video and love that you brought up that you can open them and add if you want to upgrade which I need to do just to tweak it the way I want it. Also, like that you showed the Sony Camera, in the beginning, was just checking out what's new. Always enjoy hope your leg is doing better.Looking nice and healthy glad i caught this.Deb👌💯✌Again hope all is well.....
Looking forward to that Dell XPS 15 17 review! Are those laptops with the 10th gen processors easily upgradeable?
I keep putting off watching your vids because I’m afraid when I catch-up I have to wait for more uploads. Which is CRAZY because you upload heaps. But what that means is I have a ton of Peachy fam videos I can binge. ♡
Exactly as per the UA-cam tweet for monetised videos - after 9 minutes, let’s jump straight in to the the title of the video lol
OMG my face just lights up when I see that u upload a new video.
U da best 🥰💯
I actually don’t use dongles anymore on my 2020 macbook. Just switch all your wires to usb-c and use dongles only for SD cards (Which I never need, since I use C-Fast cards.)
Very informative video Sara. Personally, I have no problem with longer videos as long as they are well written and well shot. And you ace both those aspects. Keep up the good work Sara. :)
@@saradietschy Thanks fam :)
Love your videos. Great content and info. keep up the great work!
Sara, love the videos. The way you were waving the knife around maybe me a little worried.
@@hahafunny1322 THANK YOU SO MUCH. This is great information. Much appreciated.
Holy crap I almost started crying seeing that mess of a desktop. FFS just put it all in a folder.
or go to desktop, right click -> view -> disable the "show desktop icons" option. Desktop is a folder through the file explorer already.
@@RTomassi something you can do by pressing the Start button anyway. The real problem is that the computer has to draw everything on the desktop. Its an unnecessary speed cost.
You mention Premiere Pro and Final Cut - I've ditched both and am now solely DaVinci Resolve - your recommendation?
You know what else Sara Dietschy rhymes with? LYCHEE!
What do you think about the Damsung Galaxy Flex Alpha Notebook (i7, 12gb ram ddr4, 512gb storage, Qled Display)?
Hey Sara I’m going into photo editing and photography, I’ve always heard apple was the top of the line when it came to editing photos. Would you still recommend ios or windows? Also would you go with laptop or desktop or tablet?
Ooh yes. So you’ll have better luck with color accurate display over in Mac land and because you don’t need video like power the lower end 13” MacBook pros would be great OR iPad Pro is amazing and editing pics with the pencil in Lightroom is so fun. If you want best of both worlds and okay with windows check out a 2 in 1
@@saradietschy Hi Sara? I am also looking for great laptop for editing photos? I really like the Asus zen book 14. Do you think that one would be a great for photo editing??
Awesome video, great insight!
"MacBook Pro lineup has just been a mess, in my opinion, and one of the reasons was, yes dongle life, I like my ports. And speaking of that today's sponsor... a usb-c hub" 1:42 The irony of that make me laugh so hard
Make a video about apple silicon please sara 🙏
I really like her spectacles.
I have a almost 10 year old Alienware aurora r2 i7 2600K that i still use, i upgraded the gpu and swapped the Hard drives to ssd. otherwise its all original, it can handle all the new games and regular day to day use. So if you want you computer to last then go with a desktop for sure. I finally bought a new computer, except i went with a laptop, an Alienware area51m and so far im really happy with it. The fans dont sounds like a high pitch vacuum cleaner, like all the thin laptop today, and it actually had good thermals. I only went laptop because we had a couple kids and my office is now a kids room lol
16:33 "I'm a port girl. I like my ports."
That's something I'd find in a flea market statement tee.
😂😂😂
This video made me subscribe. I like the honesty and candid nature of your videos.
Actually technically it is the late 2019 MacBook Pro 16-inch.
LOVE this video! I've been binging you for a day now lol also, love the glasses you're wearing!!
You can buy external 1tb ssd for much cheaper than apple’s. The speed is the same.
Great video Sara!

She is really good, not simping
Love the cute power geek who drank too much coffee vibe your passion really comes through well
2020 MacBook Pro 16" - more like 2019 model that is now ~11 months into the current-gen lifecycle. Wait for the next iteration.
What's the bluetooth lav mic you used in this video and others? I've heard you mention it before but can't seem to find it again to look it up lol. Think you said it was nice and cheap only around $20, thx for the help !
Me: watching this when my daily driver is a Surface Go 2.
😂
It's ok I enjoy the long videos! Switched from Mac to PC two years ago and haven't looked back. 🙂
partner with that wall artist who did that skyline on the wall and merch that as a t-shirt: sara peach on front and that wall design on the back.
Thank you for answering my question (about best laptop for video editing)! So glad you said what you did... cuz I just bought the ConceptD 7 Ezel thanks to your original review video!!
She's right, the 2019 MacBook Pro is very expensive, mine is $3,300 and I don't even have the most specked out version.
Mine was a $2500 2019 16 inch and it still overheats etc. but I got it for free so I can’t complain
that's why people buy them
disappointed that there is a zenbook duo used in your thumbnail for this video yet no mention of the ZenBook duo. *SMH*
Would you recommend the Dell XPS 13 for a video/photo editor that I can get my money worth for the next 3-4 years. And which specs do you recommend I go with since there are alot of options to choose from on Dell website
wow that camera is gorgeous! I just went for a macbook pro, i'm loving to so far but maybe i should have done some more searching around. thanks for sharing your knowledge! xx
7:37 did she say "sitted" ? Did she mean sat?
Also, I love her enthusiasm though, first time on the channel!
Don't worry about the 10 minute videos! I enjoy hearing you rattle on and on. When I listen to you, I think maybe you would do fine with less caffeine..... 😂
