What’s more insane than his setup is how the hell he remembers what does what and keeps it organized while he’s doing a livestream, answering questions, reporting news live, etc..
This is a full production
remembering how to operate it doesn't even come close to having the creativity and imagination to set it up, he must have spent a considerable amount of time (months to a year) to perfect it and visualise it. You can also tell he is very proud of his setup because he wants to show the little things that he thought of.
He screws it up sometimes. He plays it off well and does it less and less.
Everything in his setup is something he added on himself to serve a specific purpose. Being an IT guy who's built some of my client's architectures from scratch with the expectation of also being the guy maintaining their setup I can speak from experience when I say a good setup usually makes the most sense to the guy/gal who has to work with it every day.

I had no idea his mixer could be used as a "webcam" for going live. That sounds super easy to manage vs using software.
That's what churches use to go live on youtube with multiple video inputs, it's really cool.
That is why it is so expensive. Granted, it has a lot of inputs and to do that in hardware is very costly.
But, with that hardware you can save a lot of headache if you can have a good workflow, which clearly Meat Kevin has developed over time. ;)

Stoked to see this, one of the biggest benefits I got from his youtube course was his focus on reducing the friction to creating.
It's really shocking how much people won't invest in themselves. Even after they start making money they won't buy good equipment that helps them in the long run.

As someone from the broadcast network TV world and a HUGE fan of Kevin's....wow. His setup is thoroughly impressive. Using a switcher and prompters, really smart!
Yup! Its pretty much a super condensed 3+ cam studio setup. Complete with old school wipes/fades/etc. Star wipe FTW!

He's basically constructed a gallery, as you would get in live tv. And he does a great job of operating all the roles needed (director, vision mixer, sound) all at once.

This UA-cam world is so small lol I started watching John in 2017/16? Of course that lead me to Sara. Ended up finding Kevin beginning of this year and now we are back here
I used to do live video production and I used a Roland switcher just like that, although it was 16 channels instead of Kevin's 8. I absolutely LOVED using it and hope to someday be able to afford one. More satisfying than software switchers, but it is more intended for live television rather than your typical live-stream. Love your setup Kevin, and thank you Sara for bringing this to us all!

Loooooved THIS! Had to stop Kevins live market open BECAUSE I needed to watch this.
I use two of these at work - here is a cool way we use it. For zoom “all hands meetings”. I have multiple cameras in the atrium - and I connect all my cameras to the Roland, which has a usb output. Zoom just sees the one Roland camera, but I switch in the switcher and see the video before I actually cut to that camera. And the support of the chroma, allows those lower 3rd for title and name of presenter. Also supports PIP and other functions on a zoom call. It’s awesome! 👍🏽
Been watching meet Kevin like a fiend lately so it’s super cool to see someone from the tech world collaborate with him and get a BTS of his studio!

Thanks, Sara. I've also based everything on "have an idea, press three buttons and go within 10 seconds" approach to make content creating frictionless. That's what I'm really interested in here and you glossed over it. Right now I have all my lights on one keychain remote and have to turn the camera on, then press record and that's it. I'd love to go through step by step the process of setting up macros with three cameras, but mostly how to set things up so that one button turns lights and everything on, then a second button starts and stops record with a macro running to switch between cameras and the option to bring other things online. Every button really counts - and keeping everything powered up without batteries really counts as well. That's what I'd like to use to guide which equipment to buy: which things power up simply by supplying or leaving power on and don't shut down and which things stay in sync so one can arrive and press record and then press publish at the end. It would be nice to have intros and outros be automatically added as well, though I would not mind pressing a button for that if need be.
Kevin is definitely one of the smartest people on UA-cam right now. Genius
He is diligent, but he is extremely naive. He loves to learn, but he unfortunately knows very little about investing in businesses. He was loaded up on margin into the tech correction, at some point at 50% loan to value. He encourages his subscribers to invest in single stocks that usually have negative EBITDA and 80+ vol with minimal diligence and margin loans. Extremely irresponsible, and now he’s at risk of getting margin called and many of his subscribers have lost a lot of their money, except they don’t have the privilege to pump out 3 videos per day to help pay off debt. The pendulum always swings the other way, and even if Kevin only comes out of it with a couple bruises, his subscribers won’t be as fortunate.

He literally capitulated and voluntarily paid down his margin because he realized the risk/reward of a margin call wasn’t in his favor in this market environment. My comment aged very well! The market indices are up, including quality tech, and his negative EBITDA stocks are still down - a lot. 👀

Kevin is the modern version of what Tom Green did in the mid-90s. That was Rogers Television 22, while this is UA-cam. Kevin turned it into $22 million and counting, but Tom did give us Gord Brody. Great subject and great vid, Sara.
