IMO the Axum DP is the best value big box bike out of the box. You obviously brought it to the next level. It does deserve a narrow wide chain ring now though.
Watching the Wolfman try to keep it together after “I tried to get off as fast as I could” is priceless. Even after the scene cut, you could tell he was struggling! Long time viewer, first time commenter. I love you guys!

I had a blue max, was given to me after my diamondback strike zone got stolen. mine had a looptail and a cross on the headtube gusset, that bike was awesome

Almost forgot... Jeremiah, your little "song" was a 10/10. You should sing at some bike festivals, I'm sure they'd like that!😂
HA HA Well unfortunately they want people at the Festivals!!! LOL But man its gonna happen oneday! We will have a big meet there! We are thinking maybe next year, or a roadtrip around to our nation!
Holy crap that was fast haha! I could tell it would be the fastest you’ve done! Luckily you didn’t crash! Man you singing in made me laugh that was unexpected
Great run even with CF's. You jinxed yourself. Get a narrow/wide on that bike. At least no blown tires. You must have laid off the Chimyburritos for that run. 😆 🤣 😂
Always a great video when it involves Cat's Meow! I can't say I'm too surprised at the time, though I would have put it at 3rd with those two chain drops. But with those 29" wheels, oh yeah better believe that makes a difference. I've been riding on and off now since fall of '02 when an old Army buddy of mine got me into biking back in Germany. Up until this year I've been on the same two bikes since around '06, a Haibike Spirit hardtail bought in Germany and an old Giant Faith III, both from the same year and both 26"s. When I discovered Northwoods earlier this year, it seemed like it'd take forever just to get to the Cat's Meow hub on my Haibike, let alone the smoke the hell out of me session that was Freeman. Then several weeks ago I got me my Giant Talon 4, first time in all that time I was ever on 29" wheels, and first ride out I sounded just like you. Man what a difference in speed and stability! This next Spring I want to see if I can't take your dad's advice and wrangle me an XR Pro, if one would fit me, and upgrade it. That way I'd at least have a full squish in my fleet that doesn't feel like it weighs a ton! And if you ever announce a meetup ride, especially at that trail, count me in! I'm down!

We have links for those too, checkout the fork install on the axum, maybe it's the manitou..... Manitou ebay.us/ZnQFMa
I had a budget bike had front gearing. I made it a one by and chain fell off. Maybe the budget bike needs a chain guide people rogue new bikes today don’t need them due to the 29 inch wheel set. But the new bikes are made way different. With full squish. My only new bike is a 29r and mostly stock my other bikes are 26 inch. And I love the 26 inch still
Totally agree with the Axum and XR pro comment. However, i bought my XR pro in October 2021 and i got a different and cheaper suspension fork than the Sr Suntour which most of the guys who did youtube reviews got. Also i saw some videos on youtube where customers who recently bought the Ledge X1 were complaining about quality issues so this season is buyer beware. The bike you want because you saw a good review on it may not be what you get.
Man it's funny, I do not ride just to ride anymore. If we have enough daylight left after filming what had to be filmed I will usually ride what we got. But it's different, I still enjoy every build but don't quite get enough seat time for just 1, so I take advantage of whichever one we are filming usually. But Fav has got to be the Ardor or the Gt but the Axum DP is a close 1st!! Especially now all upgraded
Big price difference, but out of the box the Axum if it's gonna be a new hobby and something you wanna put money into, because once you ride it, you are gonna wanna spend!! The Boundary is a great all around light to moderate trail bike, plus way cheaper....if you wanna ride every now and then, the boundary should hold up for a while.
Have you done a bleeding job on the meroca m4 brakes? And if so? How's the performance after the bleed? I've heard that once the cables are swapped from L-rear R-front to L-front R-rear, the right lever becomes squishy and even a bleeding job wont do it no good
hey guys there is a new old bike called the schwinn santis in stock at Walmart. for 330 it has hydraulic brakes but it has a skinny headtube and a 3x8 drivetrain. think its worth checking out
as I mentioned before, the narrow-wide won't stop chain drops, but it will make the chain more stable, with less movement side to side on the chainring.
Everyone is bashing that oval chainring but I wonder if that's what made your climb so easy. That hypothesis needs to be tested back to back...oval vs circle narrow wide.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS Just ordered a hollow tech crank set and narrow wide oval chainring. I'm excited to see how much they improve my stamina on the rooty climbs on my trails. Thanks for the inspiration.
A cheap chainguide would solve that. I dont like them either but Ive never dropped a chain on my non clutch SLX 10 speed 1x since installing it. I do drop chains on my clutched XT and Deore ones occasionally though.
Just read on Pinbike that along with the messed up supply chain, there is a world wide aluminum shortage, cardboard prices X10 and pay hikes in Taiwan. Low budget bikes will soon become more affordable bikes. I'm having a difficult time getting the Dupont chain lube that I like.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS i mean... ya know... you could have shaved 15 seconds or more off of your time ifin you didn't drop your chain... but hey... sometimes it's nice to take a header- i mean breather 🤣🤣🤣
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS Well , if I saw the bike on a trail , I could have thought that the dropper was added by the owner but it wasn't the case , they had 3 more in the store with the same dropper posts installed .
You rode the bike like it was dialed in for you, perhaps because it is sized correct for you, or hard tails have less to finagle with. When a FS's rear shock is too soft, hello pedal strikes and chain ring strikes, "Mr. Face, meet Mother Earth". As for that chain ring: I thought all modern single chain rings are narrow/wide? That chain ring has to be repurposed, I'm thinking coaster or one of those stars you see in kung-fu movies. Looking at all you Advent beer cans, sitting on the formally creamed bench, reminded me that I need to return to Costco for some more Hefeweizen. I'm getting low, but Hefeweizen is better than no Weizen at all.
I'm wondering how fast it could have gone not only with no "CF"...(not carbon fiber.. but chain fail...haha!) But also if you weren't narrating while riding! I can't multi-task like that! Good job! 😇💪😎

I need your help gents. As we've discussed I'm still running my axum large 29er. I'm trying to find a tapered air fork, 120mm, that will let me use the factory qr wheels. And im drawing a complete blank. Also I'm a beefy boy at around 260. Any suggestions? Preferably under 300

This fork is tough and will keep you from buying a new wheel. WOW!!! I thought that you were going fast. 😳 You're gonna break 14 soon. Yes, always enjoy these videos. "A bunch of......🐓" lol!!! Want to see you on the BMX.
Again, you need to build a XC bike to XC standards. Its cheaper now than it has ever been to get optimal performance out of certain frame types. The hubs, groupsets, bars, cranks and anything else including cassette need to be lightweight for this frames build.
This bike is a blast to ride and we built it like we wanted to. We don't follow any rules other than our own when it comes to bikes and what we do with them. Hope that makes sense to you.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS it snapped at the mid section between clamping area and the grips, the tapered area. I don't know if this is glass fibre or real carbon, but even real carbon can snap, I've snapped carbon ski sticks. But it might have been faulty or bad choic eof carbon type, not everything is made the same, just cus it's carbon does not mean its great not that its bad. How its made and the right type of carbon is important.
Ha ha your Father was 100% right on that opening part! Wow top dog! Maybe the 29" is good it looked smooth if you did not have those chain problems it would have been blistering fast!
The dp has become a better deal since normal axum is 448 but dp is 498. Only 50 bucks of a difference. And that makes the dp a no Brainer unless you will install a different droppr

👍
So now that you have all these bikes, if you're not filming for anything, what bike do you grab to go for a ride? What's your favorite?
Man it's funny, I do not ride just to ride anymore. If we have enough daylight left after filming what had to be filmed I will usually ride what we got. But it's different, I still enjoy every build but don't quite get enough seat time for just 1, so I take advantage of whichever one we are filming usually. But Fav has got to be the Ardor or the Gt but the Axum DP is a close 1st!! Especially now all upgraded
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS glad to know the GT is still in the mix lol
If you had to pick would you pick the schwinn boundary or the Axum dp? Trying to decide on my first bike in a while..
I've heard that once the cables are swapped from L-rear R-front to L-front R-rear, the right lever becomes squishy and even a bleeding job wont do it no good
Well we changed out the levers as you saw and no bleeding necessary, the brakes feel tight and non squishy:)
hey guys there is a new old bike called the schwinn santis in stock at Walmart. for 330 it has hydraulic brakes but it has a skinny headtube and a 3x8 drivetrain. think its worth checking out
Will see whats up, thanks Eugene
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS so would you get one?
as I mentioned before, the narrow-wide won't stop chain drops, but it will make the chain more stable, with less movement side to side on the chainring.
I think it may be the reason for some of the drops for sure, gotta get one! LOL
Everyone is bashing that oval chainring but I wonder if that's what made your climb so easy. That hypothesis needs to be tested back to back...oval vs circle narrow wide.
SURE DOES!!! The Oval are AMAZING MAN! If you do not have one you need one! Thanks MD
Man I need a narrow wide then my eyes a CLEAN SMALL one!!
LOL!!! YOU ARE FREAKING HILARIOUS!!
Yes, it needs a narrow wide
SURE DOES!! Gotts to get WOLFMAN on some drunken Ebay TONIGHT!! HA HA See ya FRIDAY!
Nice song, is there a Wolftick duet In the works? I was shocked by the time, especially with the two chain drops.
DUDE!! Tell me about it! LOL And of COURSE there will be a DUET!! PATREON HERE WE COME!!!!!!
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS Hell yeah!!!
Smooth is fast brother... smooth is fast
Yessir!! Lol Hey go checkout our MERCH!! New shirt is all imma say!
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS OH SHIT!! I'M GETTING THAT NEXT PAYCHECK!!! That's awesome! :P
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS Got paid early... ordered shirt!!!
HELL YEAH!!!!! NICE;) THANKS FOR THE ORDER MAN, I GOT ONE TOO!!!
Narrow wide. Narrow wide. For those in the back...NARROW WIDE. Your chain will thank you.
So......narrow wide?? 😂😂😂
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS i mean... ya know... you could have shaved 15 seconds or more off of your time ifin you didn't drop your chain... but hey... sometimes it's nice to take a header- i mean breather
🤣🤣🤣
We demand more theme music hahaha
HA HA WILL DO!! BE SURE AND CHECKOUT FRIDAYS VIDEO!! CHAD!
I saw the same bike at Walmart and it had a dropper post .
Damn, shocked you found it in the wild!
GET TO A COSTCO QUICK!!
It would’ve been it the 13s if you had a narrow wide.
Absolutely correct! We totally need one now! But overall overall bike was such a fun ride!
Singing makes me ride faster! Especially down hill. It loosens me up and keeps me from hyperfocusing on the scary stuff. Lol.
😂👍
I'm wondering how fast it could have gone not only with no "CF"...(not carbon fiber.. but chain fail...haha!) But also if you weren't narrating while riding! I can't multi-task like that! Good job! 😇💪😎
Thanks for the love man, I think in all that being the case maybe a 1320ish???
You guys be safe peace
You as well
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS well my arm is out of the shoulder brace from the rotor cuff repair I go in Thursday to see the knee specialist to get the hardware out of my leg so the 12 screws in the plate will be coming out sometime in the next week keep you all posted keep making those videos I enjoy them
Ha ha love the singing!
THANK YOU🤩🤩🥰
I need your help gents. As we've discussed I'm still running my axum large 29er. I'm trying to find a tapered air fork, 120mm, that will let me use the factory qr wheels. And im drawing a complete blank. Also I'm a beefy boy at around 260. Any suggestions? Preferably under 300
Hey brother, now it's hard to find a 9mm but....we found one! This is an affiliate link and it is a little over budget, but tapered and quick release. This fork is tough and will keep you from buying a new wheel. Good luck www.ebay.com/itm/Manitou-Machete-27-5-29-100mm-Fork-Straight-Tapered-Manual-Remote-9mm-QR-/353414487529?mkcid=1&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5338684594&customid=Manitou&toolid=10001
is there a difference between the normal axum and the dp version?
Just a dropper post.
If you had a narrow/wide it wouldnt be coming off
Gonna order that next!!!
Chain drop! Chain drop! Lol. Man you need Black Spire in your life! What do you do with your bikes in the end?
Man we ride them and when people come to visit we let them use them.
Cool! I know that there are tonnes of narrow wide out there. But Black Spire is the only manufacturer i have found that is made in North America unfortunately. Support your country i guess.
just take the bottom guard off and you can still keep the chain from coming off.
Now thays a good idea, just may do that!! Thanks for the view as always and for sending that thing to begin with! Later Brother👍
wow, imagine the time without any chain drops! that's fast!!
DUDE RIGHT!!! TOTALLY NEED another chainring, narrow wide!!
I like the part 2:45 where you softly sing sweet memories of the Axum to us. “Dropper, WOO!” 🤣
Ha ha ha!!! Man what a build! It came from the HEART!! LOL
You know, I try to take care of you and you hate on the chain guard and this is what happens.
Ha ha ha!! Dude you are so right lol, you don't know how dumb I FELT!!🤣🤣🤣
Narrowide fixes the drops for sure.
NEED ONE!! LOL Thanks Iain
Love that build, really wanted to pick up the RC 34 myself but such they said it was going to be 4 months to ship, so went Epixon which I like But I love those X fusion. Just waiting on my new Deore groupset which I hope gets here today or tomorrow and wondering if I should get a chain guide too now
Man hopefully it keeps it quiet!! I love the trace 34s man, they are so freaking BEEFY!!
The trail itself looked faster, from my couch view.
Ha ha Couch view!! Great!!
Wow sweet bike breaking records guys…..that super awesome lightweight JD fanny pack may have given you the edge👍👍look at this snowflake Wolfman worrying about metal parts and rubber playgrounds …. Us old school rad dudes ain’t scared of the asphalt and l metal💪💪🤘🤘
Lol Man!! It was all thanks to the Fanny Pack!! 😅🤣😂 Def the power of the fanny!
WOW!!! I thought that you were going fast. 😳 You're gonna break 14 soon. Yes, always enjoy these videos. "A bunch of......🐓" lol!!! Want to see you on the BMX.
Friday!!!
Jeremiah , as a former grappler and wrestler , I would love to roll with you ....... nah , you'll probably send me to school . Lol .
HA HA Man I can be a little mean!! But come on with it! I have been thrown a few times by an old guy!
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS I have watched your videos , you are an amazingly well rounded grappler . I'm really impressed with your skill level .
Love the song.. 😆
MAN THANK YOU!! ABOUT TIME SOMEONE GIVES ME SOME LOVE 💘lol ha ha ha
Nice ride. I bet it would be 30 sec faster without the chain drops. Definitely narrow wide for the front!
Yes!!
recently I saw a pic of a snapped fake race face next bar, I think it was on Hardtails Facebook group.
Hmmm.....sounds terrrible...
To the top of the score board. Looks like a great setup, interested to see what the Ledge x2 can do since you seem to prefer the 29 wheels.
Not a bad idea!!
Ha ha your Father was 100% right on that opening part! Wow top dog! Maybe the 29" is good it looked smooth if you did not have those chain problems it would have been blistering fast!
Sure is, all the time!! Lol and man totally need a narrow wide!!
The Father Son banter at the start of each Wolftick video is gold! 😂😂
Thank you Christopher, you should checkout the patreon!! Lol
The dp has become a better deal since normal axum is 448 but dp is 498. Only 50 bucks of a difference. And that makes the dp a no Brainer unless you will install a different droppr
💯
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS replyied quick. 9 pm CST 10 pm east time
Nice melody, but who sings that song....(chirp)....(chirp).....(chirp)...maybe you should let them sing it.....LOL! Dawgs are howling in my neighborhood and the nearest neighbor is a 1/2 mile away! Definitely use narrowwide chainring on it and you may hit 13:57:56!!!
Oh so exact!!! Appreciate you being a fan of my singing as well!! 🤣🤣😂🤪
You must be in shape for talking and shredding.
Thanks man, it's difficult but let's just say yes! Lol all about the cardio and breathing!! Thanks for the comment 👍😀
Killer time especially with 2 chain drops, just curious if you have any plans to retry the upgraded Ardor since it did so much worse then the stock. Another great video I love the time trial videos and all your content, keep up the good work!
Thanks James, now possibly when we install an internal dropper!!
Still stick with a TREK, much lighter and I can trust it! I had the Marlin 5, yes it's more expensive but way better bike than this Schwin! Upgraded to the 2022 M6 not long ago!
Man dont hate on the AXUM DP!! LOL Would love for you to ride the Axum since upgraded:)
Damn, you were jammin on that trail this time. Wonder what the time would be if you didnt have those 2 chain drops.
Dude it would of been atleast on the 13s!!
With a Shimano chain ring and chain it will stay on.
Yes, need one for sure!! Thanks man
Was I just looking at a freestyle bicycle a 20-inch maybe I could BMX or GT single speed COG that's sweet memories more than just memories what's up wolf tick wolfman Jeremiah 💓

@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS LOL my birthday Saturday 49 I'm getting old I guess it's time for me to slow down a little
Love that custom song...“dropper wooo”. So good. I really want a red Med. Axum DP.
Just to let you know the affiliate link wasn’t active for me.
Thank you for letting us know and man, finally someone that loved my song!! Ha ha ha
replace the chainring
Yes!!
I would love to see you hit that trail with a carbon frame full suspension. Just to see how a "high end" bike compares to what you've done with the budget builds. Just to see if there is a "REAL" difference. Not to mention you guys are people we trust for getting the truth on this stuff.
Well that is an awesome comment man, thank you and it would be interesting!!
I think you missed your calling as a singer
DUH!!
I don't know the age of the Wolfman ( I really hope he is eternal ) but I am 58 and for my generation , everything was made out of metal and leather .
Man those were the days! And Wolfman is IMMORTAL he says!
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS I really hope he is .
One chain guide and you will never drop a chain again .
Check the other episode!! Got one 👍
