Another thing that can mess up shifting and make chain skip or have chainsuck is worn out bearings in the hub, causing binding in the free hub, which causes chainsuck and skipping chain. If you install the wheel with loose axle, in this case loose cones, and it works perfectly it means the bearings need to be changed
Side note: my chain has one of those directional specific bean shaped quick links and if you put it on upside down it will cause it to skip every time it comes around to the cassette, it's really irritating, lol
I had that same derailleur on my old diamondback and I loved it. It was so quite n No chain slap whatsoever I just made the bike so quiet hitting bumps and jumps you heard nothing and the chain never dropped off. I just got a new truck and I'm thinking about putting that one on my Trek. Awesome video guys!
"and the b link didn't work" Wolfman:"ha!" sometimes it's best to listen your elders 😂😂😂 I think shimano is always the way to go for crisp shifting and the clutch should help massively but I think you'll probably need a narrow wide too. Great video gents, as always. Take care 😎🍺👍
Cmon Dan I thought you were my buddy!!?? I agree, narrow wide will prob be needed, I hope this works for now though!! Thanks Dan and hope to be catching everyone on the regular agian:)
I was in Costco the other day checking out that Advent beer. $59!!!??? I ended up grabbing a case of Widmer Hefe. The bike looks great, I'll be heading back to Las Vegas in December to ride mine. When I moved from Cedar City, UT to the North West, November 2019 , I gave away and sold cheap a lot of tools including 3/4" torque wrenches and breaker bars. I wish I'd kept some of that for you.
When it comes to drivetrain parts Shimano is normally my go to when it comes to rear derailleur and shifter. Hard to beat how smooth and fast they shift into the gears . Currently have 4 bikes all have Shimano clutch rear derailleur and shifters.
Dang I remember the mess of originally putting that groupset on like it was yesterday. Definitely gonna make the axum a really good bike for longer rides
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS will do. Might be a hot minute. It's already some what cold here in ohio and I'm getting my heater system built for my roof top tent in the jeep for winter camp

Thanks SHOOBY! The Axum feels a little different because the terrible stand over height of the Schwinn! The Ardor is nimble and feels I can climb/go down anything. The Axum although a M seems a little bigger still? IDK I need to ride it and get a good feel after the new BARS!!
Great build! The only thing that would stop me from considering doing this build is that would be yet another Hard Tail in my fleet. I have two, one of which I just bought. I'm ready to play with a decent full squish. I've been years ready for a decent full squish. My wallet just hasn't been ready :-p The only FS I have right now is an old Giant Faith III that needs some work, and man is it heavy. Sucks on climbs, but great on descents. I'm loving seeing what these builds can do, though, and you're giving me ideas. BTW, will you guys be coming to the Güdrun festival?
Hey brother, we should be there but...I think there may be a birthday we "need" to go to:) Hope not, if so we look forward to seeing you there brother!!! Thanks again Brandon
Bob was seen putting Gorilla Tape and Presta valves in his suitcase. I think that he is going Axum tubeless despite the promises that he made to stay with tubes.
10:40 the chain catching might be bent rear derailleur hanger and/or bent tooth or cog on the cassette, but also if the B tension is adjusted too far out it might not shift as smooth. If the cassette cog or teeth are the issueyou can use a flat headed screwdriver to fix it. But if this is a issue with this cassette you should try something different, as it'ss not fit for purpose, this was the case with Sun Race but on my old bike I even got it on Shimano Xt M8000, but I don't know how mich the bike was at fault. And how much the cassette. But iwth the Sun Race the cassette definitely was bad, as I tested bigger version on my G1. I've already told you about this, I've tested this, both on a full suspension bike and a hardtail. But I guess it could make good content to do a test.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS cus it's only one spot, it's not the adjustment, it's probably something wrong with the cog or bent hanger. If it was tension it would be issue at all cogs, if it's too big B tension issue will be not being able to down shift to the biggest cog, but close B tension and it might not shift well, but might shift well in higher but not lower, so my conclusion is its not the adjustment that is causing that, but you might still have some adjusting to do. But I think it's the cog or twisted, bent hanger or too much play in the rear derailleur parellogram, that can result in certain gear snot shifting properly while others do, if that's the case you might not be able to use adjustments to fix shifting issues, as it's worn so much that it puts the Rd at an weird angle at few of the gears. When this happens the rear derailleur will point to the away from the bike to the front, and cage will sag down to the wheel. If the rear derailleur is so worn it's hopeless with adjustment then you need a new one. Buy first use a rear derailleur alignment tool to make sut wits straight. Just one hit is enough to make it shift worse, it does not even have to be very hard hit
