The new Jimmy is great (I have one) however the 4x4 system on the Duster 4x4 system is totally different and can be used on tarmac. The Jimmy 4x4 system can only be used on very slippery surfaces otherwise it will get transmission wind up. For serious off roading buy the Jimny, for occasional mild off roading and extra grip in poor weather buy the Duster.
Renault maybe, but I doubt Dacia (which is actually what this is) would stop. My wife is getting her new 2L petrol Auto (regular auto gearbox) 4X4 any day now - in Oman. I believe South Africa isn't getting an automatic 4X4. Pity, as I believe it would be very popular...
Good point that this is a Dacia i'm romanian and i respect that, but the truth is that it was developed and tested by Renault in the Renault Center here in my small city, Titu. After all it is a Renault under the brand name Dacia
It is strange how prices differ from country to country. In the UK the cheapest Ford Ecosport is 422,364 rand yet the top of the range Dacia Duster is 318,112 rand. Also the ecoboost engine has a very poor reliability record as it uses a stupid cambelt in oil arrangement which is supposed to last ten years (but does not.) The belt is not worth replacing as it costs 30000 rand to replace in the UK. Great review.
Nice.... but what is to happen with the diesel engines in two years time... even Renault says they are stopping all development on them! Europe seems to have killed the diesel already. So where does this leave the South African diesel Duster buyer??
Looks worse than the last one :( (exterior) but that Interior is looking Way Better But Bang For Your Buck It's AMAZING :D Nothing can really compete with this car (Onroad/OffRoad/Performance/Price) Top of the range auto/4wd will be around R350K Maybe the Subaru Crosstrek.. but that's an extra 50K just for a base model :/ and over 150k extra for the spec'd out sports version.
