At first I thought they were just awarding them the Oscars because it's Asians turn in the hyper-politically correct atmosphere. But watched the movie here today in Tokyo and was great. There really was a lot of acting, from comedy to action to drama, crying. The ending was predictable. Lucky for me I actually speak Chinese (subtitles were only in Japanese) although I had to guess when they spoke Cantonese / Guangdonghwa. They really required a lot Quan and Yeoh who had to play multiple versions of themselves. Great acting and great story.

Extra thanks to the people responsible for bringing him back into acting. We've been denied a truly warm spirit all these years. Better late than never!

He's such an American treasure and his journey is astounding. There are very few major child actors that get as big roles as Ke as such a young child in the early 80s and almost all end up becoming A list actors and getting big roles all over their career. The system made it basically impossible for him to follow that same path but he kept pushing and enduring and he truly was able to see his dream come alive

i've looked at his IMDB page for years and at some point he did stop acting but he also was working behind the scenes doing various things like Stunts for example so when i heard he went back to acting i was actually surprised. apparently he came over to the states in a boat with this family and to come to America like that and than win an oscar that's pretty damn good ya know?

Brought back so much good memory. I was a 80s kid. Indiana Jones series is my favorite. Watched The Goonies when I was about 9 or 10. Memory for life. So happy to see him coming back after all the bitter struggle. Life is complicated but rewarding.

Ke Huy Quan had me 😭😭😭 from the moment they called his name! I was a kid wnen Goonies and The Indiana Jones franchise came out and I was a huge fan. On and off screen, there is just something so endearing and likeable about him. So much so, that I can still remember how I felt watching his promo interviews on tv decades ago. I know I'm not alone in my standom either, because I've had many convos with many people over the years about how lovable he is and how disappointed we were that he seemed to have disappeared from the big screen after Encino Man. I know he worked behind the scenes and probably did have small on screen roles here and there, but we've missed him as a part of the main cast. I'm so happy for him and I hope that this is just the beginning of an amazing ascent in the industry for him.
My 2 favorite parts of the show were Ke Huys tearful victory, and Ke Huy and Harrison reuniting and embracing at the end. Those two moments overshadowed even the spectacular Natu Natu number which tore down the house! Overall, best Oscars I've seen in decades!

BY the end of the movie it hit me, OMG it's the kid from Goonies!!! one of my favorite movies when I was a kid (saw it at the theater in the summer of 85 in Ocala Florida with my whole family). I'd love to see Jimmy back as host for next year. He took the time perfectly to address the elephant in the room of last year's show. He's definitely one of Oscars best host, probably since Seth MacFarlane or Hugh Jackman, it seems like he's having a great time hosting the show
I was just watching the greatest hits of Kimmel! There was an amazingly entertaining video of Jimmy Kimmel everytime he showed up in 🖤 face, there was one particularly awesome one where he was in full body makeup pantomiming a basketball player! Good times Jimmy huh?
