Lisa, it is always great to see you work. This demo on how you paint waves is so well done. I really enjoy viewing your process. You did great with this. Thank you for putting in all this time into helping all of us.
Beautiful ~ the light reflection is taking the top quarter away Would u plz reference your brushes and what u prefer as an alternate ~ thx! I luv the way u tell us mistakes r 👌😍
Everyone knows about FOMO, the fear of missing out, but I think many artists suffer from FOMU, the fear of messing up. I've been painting since I was a child and I still struggle with it from time to time. Great painting, by the way.
Exactly. I still battle FOMU and though Lisa says to just paint over the mistake, my fear stems from not being able to fix it no matter how many times I paint over it! Then I get so angry with myself for not being able to figure out how to fix the problem. My problem areas are often many layers thicker than the rest of the painting LOL.
May I ask why you have started to prefer using more acrylic paints over oil paints lately ?! I've just been following you since years, so im only curious !
Excellent as usual I'm in the middle of painting seven helicopters flying over a huge crashing wave and this video has really helped me I'm going to do the glazing next, but I will have to use water to thin the paint. I can't buy liquitex glazing medium here in Thailand. I'm wondering if hair gel will do instead. I do have some liquin original and I'll try that as well. I'll need to do a test on a seperate piece of canvass in case I really screw something up on my important work I'm not too sure how it will look Wish me luck !
Oh, just use water then. I use water more often than glazing medium myself. It will work just fine for you J:) . You don't want liquin at all because that's for oil paint. Don't use hair gel, stick with art supplies or your work won't likely be archival. :)
@@Lachri I've used acrylic for the underpainting and I intended to use oil paint over the acrylic. I've seen on UA-cam that works OK. Anyway I've done two coats of water based glazing already "Lemon Yellow" which as you know is transparent, but it's patchy. I'm getting brush marks . I'm using a flat soft synthetic brush. I'm worried if I do switch over to the oil paint and liquin that if it doesn't look any better I can't change back to the water based acrylic glazing routine, because I know it's not possible to paint acrylic over oil paint. Yes, I could wipe the oil paint off before it's dried, but I suspect there would be a small residue of of oil still embedded in the acrylic and that could then mean the acrylic would not stick to the painting. So I'll give it another four or five coats of the water based and if still no good, I'll chance the oil paint and liquin Thank you very much for your quick reply It's very kind of you to take the trouble Kind regards - Chris in Thailand
Hi! I hope you read this, I bought the liquitex basics and started painting with them but everytime I want to blend something the paint is too heavy and if I add water then it looks patchy when I blend, what could be the reason behind it??
That is from the colors being translucent. Some colors will be more opaque and give you smoother base layers. The really translucent colors I save for my layers of glazing.
I am having the hardest time painting my sea foam to look realistic...I will try again after attempting to remove my ugly waves....again....I'm determined to get this right! :)
I painted my canvas and I painted wet on wet and it happens that I made a boo-boo. When I did the layers, the paint underneath lifted up and what will I do with my canvas? I'm stuck. I don't know what to do. Please help.
I adore this woman's ability and her generosity to share it with the world but I have to bump all her videos to 0.75 speed because her normal amount of energy gives me a bit of anxiety...
You are very kind to share your painting skills with everyone, as you do. Thank you so much, a lot can be learned from you.

I love how this turned out. I still struggle with waves but there are key points made here that I need to remember for my next attempt. Thank you.
This is absolutely amazing. Can't wait for colored pencil demo.😻😻😻
Looks beautiful would I be able to use Liquitex matte gel to paint this?
This is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Wow beautiful work!
A great tutorial, some super helpful tips too. Love it!

Amazing!! Are you uploading the coloured pencil video of the wave?
Great video Lisa! 😁

"Fighting the white of the canvas" This should be a quote!
Excellent as usual

Very beautiful
can you show me which painting brush you use for making wave?
Amazing!!!!
Hi Lisa, Most acrylic ranges dont do an actual "teal". Whats the best way to make teal with other more standard colours. Thanks
mvolestrangler Try mixing blue (maybe pthalo?) with some grey.
I need that Canvas! :)
Thanks for sharing that 😃😃

Why don't you ever use golden acrylics? (just curious because they're supposed to be higher quality than liquitex )
When I get a rebelious canvas that wont sit still to be painted, I use bluetack on the back to hold the little devil where I want it

😍😍😍😍😍
Hi Lisa, how much do you sell you art?
Oh I got the perfect light setup to paint this, I will see at all times what my values are!
Glazing medium: LOL nope.
Sea foam fun part. Ha! Never in my lifetime.

too much water added to acrylic paint will keep it from adhering to the canvas. Use an acrylic paint thinner, rather than water for glazes.

Modern "artist:" works to the point Lisa was at 1:10 . Stops. Sells it for $190,000 because of how it "frees art from being about anything."
