I've been painting for years without the help of school and waves have mystified me, this broke it down so perfectly, not only are you an amazing artist but you have a brilliant way of teaching things. Thank you for taking the time to post tutorials
This took me hours but the basics I learned were invaluable. I so appreciate the emphasis on building up layers, it adds so much more life, complexity and depth. And thanks for making me repaint, it removed a block I had about re-tackling work. You're an amazing teacher.
This was a really good tutorial. I really like how you mentioned which brushes you were using so that painters would have a better idea of which brush works for which effects. The painting is also beautiful and I can't wait till next week to see the entire piece.
This is pretty awesome. I am digging on the pattern in the front part of the water. Also, the way your instruction is delivered is quite cool. I am loving the way the inside of the wave looks translucent. Super radical. 🔥🔥🤘🏽
Lisa, you are just continuing to get better, and better, and better, and better. This is a great painting. Thank you so much for this tutorial and all you did to explain each step.I am trying to get back into painting and thought I would start again with acrylics. Well, I didn't know how challenging they are. You make it look so so easy, but it isn't. Thanks again.
Lachri Fine Art, that would be great. I find trying to start is a challenge in itself. I will sone, because of the kind and encouraging remarks from you and others in the group. Thanks again for all you do.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge on how to paint all the beautiful art work you do.I have learned a lot from you and other artist that give so much helpful information. I have just started back into art after 45 years of waiting to retire and all the tips, how to and methods are much appreciated. All the best to you Lisa. Have a great week. You do very beautiful works.
I've been binge watching all your videos the past few days and I'm blown away! You are such a talented artist! I've taken a huge interest in colored pencil as my medium and who better to learn from then you!
Dang .... I wish I had found this a long time ago. I've been trying for several weeks now to do those waves and you just cleared up sooooooo many of my questions! Thank you so much for this tutorial!
Lisa, really enjoy watching your tutorials (all the way from down under Australia), have learned heaps, heaps and heaps, looking forward to seeing the completed painting. PS. And yes "Flipper" does come to mind when I see this video.
This is so amazing. I tried painting waves last night and I failed so hard because I just got lost. I couldn't figure out how to get it done. I knew what I was trying to do but I couldn't figure out what order to paint the colors in or how to get the right shapes. This really helps. Thanks so much
I would like to see more videos with your studio assistants. :)) Oh...and this was GREAT! I can't wait to see the whole painting next week, I just love your color choices here and the damask in the background is stunning!
Lots of nice tips and advice. Made me feel more relaxed about making mistakes and reworking a peace if needed :) thanks for your chill but upebeat approach
Amazing tutorial, I have struggled with waves, but you explained it so well I'm going to have to paint me a wave now, to prove I can finally do it, thank you! :-)
Wow Lisa - This was fantastic. I'm not much of an acrylic painter, but you make it look it so easy. Great work on the translucency of the waves. :-) ~Marty
In the beginning, when you stated what you were going to do in the video, I noticed the sides of the canvas are also painted. Was that particular example a print of an original that was painted in the video or did you actually paint on the side? Wonderful piece and very helpful!!!! Thanks so much for sharing your fantastic talent with the world!!!!!
Hello do you do something to your canvas to get that wallpaper back ground? I was wondering as I seen that done on your wood grain demonstration. Looks great!
sanding down a canvas? this is life changing. the texture in the canvas always makes my paintings look a not as good as they could. how do you do it? by hand?
So many things to learn from your channel :) I know your works are mostly done by colored pencils and acrylic paints, but do you use any other mediums, like watercolor? I'm just curious :)
Quyen-kun I normally just work in oil paints, acrylic paints and airbrushing, graphite and carbon pencil, and colored pencil but I do plan to do some videos where I make a fool of myself using mediums I've never used before :)
+Susan Hall If you use a hairdryer to dry your canvas, make sure the canvas has cooled completely before you begin painting again. The acrylic already dries so fast that if you paint on a hot surface it makes it impossible to blend before it dries :)
Just wondering about adding water to acrylic paint...I watched a video from I think Liquitex...and she said that adding water destroys the binding property of the paint...she suggests using air brush medium...just wondering what you think... Thanks great videos... Eileen
Hi Lisa love all your videos. just wondered have you ever use alkyd oil paint or do you always prefer liquitex. I have never tried to paint in acrylic and I have only used Faber Castell watercolour pencils and Polychromos. So I am researching into the idea of buying some acrylic or alkyd oil as recommended by Jason Morgan. What do you think would be best for me to purchase thank you Lisa. I enjoy drawing pets and wildlife and I'd like a smooth finish with a slight sheen. I love using my pencils but I hear people keep saying that I have to get out of my comfort zone and try something new but I don't want to waste a load of money and then hate the idea.
Hi have you got any advice on how to draw the veins ,because I'm really struggling with that part and I find that instead of the veins creating movement they ruin my work😢
I have NEVER been able to figure out how to do waves, or water, at all. now I still can't really because I haven't practiced but now that I know some good technics I feel like I can figure it out finally.
A beautiful soul like yours could not but seamlessly transfer such beauty on a canvas

That's amazing how it goes from not looking like a wave to a full on realistic wave in minutes!
I love the painting and the way you describe how you painted each layer. Thank you!
I've been binge watching all your videos the past few days and I'm blown away! You are such a talented artist! I've taken a huge interest in colored pencil as my medium and who better to learn from then you!

Hello do you do something to your canvas to get that wallpaper back ground? I was wondering as I seen that done on your wood grain demonstration. Looks great!
+Stewart Skiba It's a stencil :)

Beautifal waves thanks for sharing the tips of the process.
sanding down a canvas? this is life changing. the texture in the canvas always makes my paintings look a not as good as they could. how do you do it? by hand?
Yes, I add a couple of layers of gesso, let it dry, then sand lightly by hand :)

Hi, this is my first time watching your videos. Really love this wave! What Liquitex colors did you use?

The bottom half of your canvas seems to be watermarked. How do you get that affect. It's a beautiful background buy itself. Thanks.
i loved it so much, but there is a question making me dizzy,
why didn't you color the wave in blue instead of green??
:)
Lovely! Definitely going to have a go at that one. Thanks for great video.
+CarolAnnFL Thanks!! :D
I have a bit of a hearing problem. What are you saying at 2:31 in the video? Love your work.

Hi have you got any advice on how to draw the veins ,because I'm really struggling with that part and I find that instead of the veins creating movement they ruin my work😢
Thank you so much.Where can I find list of colors used in this painting
Lisa, every so often, you appear to 'dab' something on the canvass in place of the brushes. What is it you're using and why do you need to?
Thanks :)
I think that's my biggest problem: impatience.
Could u please tell me what glazing over means and what type of glaze you are using
Thanks, Diane
Just amazing!
what is that beautiful pattern in the water area below the waves? how did you do that part?
JDvorak2009 It's a stencil that I airbrushed on :)
