Absolutely love oyster mushroom, and if you really want to be hooked, marinate them in vegan stock over night lightly pat them dry and toss them in flour and fry them up!❤❤❤
First I did these on a chicken sandwich (Toasted bun, Vegan Mayo, tomato, lettuce, and onion).. then yesterday for Easter I did them with yams, cabbage, potato salad & cornbread and when I tell you.. vegan holy grail for me 😭 definitely chicken fibers. I love it!

I called my son downstairs who is a picky eater and he said “wow did you buy chicken this morning?” But the proof is our dogs! I had to run to the garden to pick tomatoes and cukes for the garden. When I came back our big lab had eaten EVERY SINGLE PIECE. I mean she didn’t leave even a crumb- so obviously even to HER it was chicken!😂 I will never leave them unguarded again. I got the blue oyster mushrooms from whole foods and it turned out perfect! When I got some mushrooms from a market they didn't taste as good to me. You need to let them cook time golden brown. I have made them like 6 times since this post lol!! Im addicted!!

I couldn't find the just egg, so I did two batches, one using flax eggs and the other plant-based milk. I may have used too much flax, which had a negative impact on the final outcome. But, the batch made with plant-based milk, it was soooooo delicious. Made faux chicken and vegan waffles and didn't miss the meat, dairy or eggs. Keep these great recipes coming!

I am definitely trying out this recipe for sure! I love fried chicken but never eat the skin, and I still feel guilty. With this recipe, I can eat the whole "piece" and finish off the rest with a large spring mix salad and know I did my good deed for the day, night, whatever!

Made your recipe and finally found an easy tasty mock chicken recipe using shrooms. I did not have oyster shrooms so I used royal trumphet.....delightful and tasty. Thank you for this recipe. I use ready-mixed flour. Go to an Asian oriental store and ask for bananas fried flour. It is vegan. I would experiment with the amount of water - I like it a little bit thick, then I would put in seasoning to taste. I use mushroom seasoning they sell in the same store. Put in 2 teaspoons or more based on your taste. Then dip the oyster mushroom into this flour and deep-fried- Very delicious. If you want it to taste more like chicken, maybe add some black pepper to the flour batter.
I just made my first ever proper southern fried “chicken” and i am so grateful to have found your channel. I can cook anything but I have never been successful with Southern Fried anything, and my sons vegan gf and I just pigged out! SO AMAZING!! The texture was so much like chicken. The flavor from your recipe is unbelievable! After we went through all the oyster mushrooms, I used the remaining batter to cook dinner for my two carnivores They were ranting and raving about how crunchy it was. The oil you fry with matters as well. This sounds tasty, perhaps look into an oil that has a higher heat tolerance and air frying. Thank you for sharing the seasoning and about these mushrooms.
I just tried this and it is delicious. I used soy milk with apple cider vinegar to make buttermilk and then I seasoned it. It really taste and feels like chicken in my mouth. Tomorrow I am putting the leftovers on a bun and making a chicken sandwich. Thank you.

I'm vegan, but not really into mushrooms, but this looks so good and easy to do! I think I'm going to try it. Thanks for the demo🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Better to boil the flaxseed until it thickens, about 2 min. Strain into a large mason jar, add more water and repeat till the water doesn't thicken anymore. Store in ref till you need an egg or two. It keeps a long time. 😊 2 Tbsps flaxseed, 1 cup water. It makes a lot 1/4 gel =1 egg. You can blend the seeds and make crackers or add to bread mixture.
I've made this similar on another site, but they made it so darn COMPLICATED, it took forever to make! (adding pickle juice buttermilk, etc. etc.) Thank you for making it so much more easy!
I find a tiny bit of curry powder or mushroom powder will give that nice umami taste that sort of chicken flavored. Thanks again! We were not raised in a vegan household but Mom loved veggies and would make so many variations on veggies. She was raised on a farm.

The oil you fry with matters as well. This sounds tasty, perhaps look into an oil that has a higher heat tolerance and air frying. Thank you for sharing the seasoning and about these mushrooms.

I just tried this and it is delicious. I used soy milk with apple cider vinegar to make buttermilk and then I seasoned it. It really taste and feels like chicken in my mouth. Tomorrow I am putting the leftovers on a bun and making a chicken sandwich. Thank you.

I'm vegan, but not really into mushrooms, but this looks so good and easy to do! I think I'm going to try it. Thanks for the demo🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Better to boil the flaxseed until it thickens, about 2 min. Strain into a large mason jar, add more water and repeat till the water doesn't thicken anymore. Store in ref till you need an egg or two. It keeps a long time. 😊 2 Tbsps flaxseed, 1 cup water. It makes a lot 1/4 gel =1 egg. You can blend the seeds and make crackers or add to bread mixture.

I've made this similar on another site, but they made it so darn COMPLICATED, it took forever to make! (adding pickle juice buttermilk, etc. etc.) Thank you for making it so much more easy!

I find a tiny bit of curry powder or mushroom powder will give that nice umami taste that sort of chicken flavored. Thanks again! We were not raised in a vegan household but Mom loved veggies and would make so many variations on veggies. She was raised on a farm.
