MKLeo is the only player I've seen that is completely 100% immune to tilting or being discouraged. He has a mentality of steel. He could be 3-stocked twice in a row, down 2-0 in a set, and then be like "Hold up, I'm up MKLeo", and get a reverse sweep without batting an eye.
I think he just toys with them. Let’s them win a couple then smashes them.
And he also never pops off much, out of respect for his opponent. That's what I appreciate about him so much

This is why i both love MKLeo so much and vehemently dislike the Smash community. MKLeo is the only smash player who reminds me of top Level FGC players. Dudes like Combofiend, Chris G, Sonic Fox, FilipinoChamp, Justim Wong, Diago, Qudans, GO1, Dogura, Kazunoko, Moke, Nakkiel, etc are dudes with nerves of absolute adamantium!
The smash community in general just have a different mindset when it comes to competition. Most of them (even the best) are really casuals who mastered 1 fighting game while other top fighting game players mastered the art of *competition*. Sm4sh is the perfect example of this. Literally every top tier character in the game got nerfed into the ground due to the cry of casuals so now its a broken watered down mess of a game.
ZeR0, Hbox, and the old school Melee dudes like Ken and Isai were/are also cut from the same cloth that true competitors are woven from. Too bad Zero retired and HBox mostly focuses on Melee and streaming. Those are the only two dudes in the smash community who have a chance to dethrone MKLeo but as Zero says: "since Smash players make 10% of what other fighters pay, its more lucrative for smashers to just become personalities instead of grinding for tourney wins"

Nairo is just really popular and Mkleo isn't. Remember when leo played Ike, and everybody called him braindead for playing a braindead hero? Then he switched to Joker, and everyone said Joker is just too good and Leo's getting carried by his character. It's stupid. Props to Nairo tho, wasn't expecting it to be this close.
Nairo has what it takes; he just needs to calm his nerves when they start to run wild.
I honestly feel like Nairo has so much potential he just needs to find a character that fits his play style perfectly, while Palutena is definitely high tier I feel like for a player as aggressive as Nairo she doesn’t complement him as well as she should.
Which is probably why his Ganondorf is fire! Unfortunately for Nairo there’s a lot of mismatches with him and it’s hard playing Ganondorf in brackets. I could see a character like Roy that would fit him well
It isn't characters he doesn't handle pressure like the players he loses to. You can see the change in his posture alone.

Crazy how close each of this specific tournaments games get when these pros face MKLeo.
IMO Zackray started the trend of avoiding Arsene before Samsora did but Sam did it better. Leo is only winning by the skin of his teeth since then. Yeah his composure is key and so is his skill, but these guys are REALLY adapting to Leo’s Joker and it’s amazing to watch. GGs Nairo 💯
its more amazing to watch Leo, imo. The fact that he has such a target on his back and everyone is adapting and putting more time into their play to beat his joker yet he still wins pretty much everything shows that he is far and away the best player in Ultimate, and will be his whole life.

nah man watch leo's set with kameme (the only person to beat leo at evo). kameme avoids arsene but also mixes his approaches up by playing the run away game during one period arsene is on, and then attacking another. i would highly recommend checking it out again, incredible play by kamemme.

Leo’s adaptability as well as his calm in the face of odds stacked against him are two traits *well* beyond his years. Also these two traits will carry over and be invaluable in whatever vocational path he takes after his Smash career. Really just can’t understate how impressive this kid is.
I think Palutena is one of the characters out there that can actually avoid the edge guarding of Joker. The only problem is Arsene but I feel like the match up is doable. After seeing Peach I kinda feel like Palutenas tools actually have more variety than Peach.
Peach’s ledge trapping and camping with turnips are suuuper helpful against arsene tho. Like Samaria made it look easy beating arsene by just camping worth peach. Palutena cant do that as well tbh.

Probably, because Leo is a guest. If the tournament was hosted outside the US, believe me, the whole crowd would always be with Leo. Nothing wrong with the crowd wanting an American to win. Outsiders, nonetheless, are still watching and appreciating the great player that Leo is. His resilience is quite insane, more than his playstyle. I mean don't get me wrong, he plays very good. But I've seen many players choke on the big stage that having a talent doesn't matter if you're all nervous.
@@pianosonata5029 The crowd wasn't cheering for Mkleo because he was a guest they wanted Nairo to win because Leo is the current #1 and they wanted the upset. He's a good player, the fact that he's beating these players who are adapting to playing against Joker it's amazing.
It’s not hate lol, it’s rooting for the underdog. It’s like rooting for ZeRo after his 44th tournament win in a row, seeing the same person win over and over isn’t that fun to watch, but seeing an underdog come out on top is hype. Why root for the best player? I know Leo deserves everything he gets, he’s incredibly good, but the crowd doesn’t hate Leo, they’re rooting for the underdogs.

Honestly so many sets this tournament have been super hype. Salem vs Leffen, Leo vs Zackray, Leo vs Riddles, and this one to name a few
These two are among my favorite pro Smash players. I was rooting for Nairo on this one but I completely understand losing to MKLeo. The man is a legend with undying willpower and mental fortitude. Does not crack at all.

He still wins for getting beaten up sometimes and wins for it, but his non-arsene Joker is still extremely deadly. One of the only few Joker mains that regularly gets kills without needing Arsene.
I really like Leo's joker without Arsene, but I hate that when someone does a good combo then Leo gets Arsene and destroys his opponent in like 3 hits.
He also always gets Arsene when he is about to fall off the stage. Arsene comes out way too quickly

This match was actually very important because it proves that Leo is beatable but people were doing it wrong. I think next tournament, if people do what Nairo and Samsora did, Leo is gonna lose.

For everyone saying to nerf Joker, why would they do such a thing hes already good the way it is, just because you see someone being good with a character doesnt mean its broken its just the player that makes it broken. For example samsora, “they should nerf him” but no just because hes the underdog and hasnt won many tournaments means that they should not nerf her, comenon peach has RNG with the bomb and the stichface. Or Tweek Pokemon Trainer wasnt much but all of a sudden tweek made pokemon trainer good, so that tells me that the player is the person that makes the characters good.

To push the scene, they should be trying to commentate on MKLeo's legendary status as well, just like in League how Faker was put on a pedestal. They were 3-2 before this set, now they are 4-2. The best part about this is that the 2 wins Nairo has were at a pre season tournament and at summit, so those doesn't count for the PGR lmao.

Benado it’s not that he got worse it’s that everyone else who was rising in the ranks of smash 4 got better(Leo tweek samsora mars and light). Also his main got changed(for the better imo) as well so that would also likely effect where he is on the pgr
I love nairos play style with palutena but I think palutenas counter/reflect should be utilized when off stage, as MKleo likes to use his projectile when he has arsen as an off stage hit box
