At 18:50 Leo starts a little pop off but sees Samsora depressed and turn it into a fake stretch, he's so respectfull towards his opponent it's incredible.
The reason Leo is #1 in the world is the way he adapts. It was the same thing with Tweek. Samsora used vegetables to get rid of Arsene and it was amazing for a moment I thought this is the perfect counter pick against Joker - 4 hits and Leo lost Arsene. Then, Leo understood the match up and used the vegetables against Samsora and got Arsene 2 seconds (literally) after he lost it. That's just one adaptation, the edge guarding, ledge trapping and neutral game is 100% changed from game 1-3 to games 5-7. Amazing.
Same like he did vs Zackray we he changed to Rob, in a single game he understood the gyro was the biggest threat and the next one he was using it to get Arsene in an instant, Leo even feels more vulnerable with Arsene but he manages to get into the other´s head by showing how their most useful and powerful tools is turned against them.
Now tell me another character that can pull an effing arsene out to “adapt” to the other person. No actually. tell me another character that can just cancel and shutdown your best attack options like that. Can you even name 1? So is it Leo’s adapting ability or that joker just has fucking good options. And yet some ppl are refusing to call him broken. Leo does have a great mental game and fast reactions but his character also gives him so many extra advantages that it’s unfair.
0vershadow if robs best attack option is gyro, any reflect character counters that. Leo just adapted to the situations he was put in, nothing wrong with that, the character isn’t broken, people need to chill. Barely anyone else is good with joker. Or can’t even play him well, joker may be high tier to top tier but he isn’t broken at all just cause one person plays him well
He's also the toughest mentally. He just never seems to get down or rattled. When these guys have him against the ropes and he somehow clutches a game or two out they just break.

@@xzgears929 man if joker is at high percent it would geit it faster because the down B reduces the damage that you receive and that damage reduced goes to the meter, so if you are at 200 with one hit on jokers rebels guard it can charge all the meter. thats why leo sometimes got 2 arsene in one stock bc they hit jokers with rebels guard at high percents. but also leo lost many stocks and get punished so many un this set for trying that
I mean Samsora was doing really well and was able to combo MKLeo's Joker to around 60%, and then Arsene was like, "It's showtime." It wasn't just the turnips.
This video is a bible for learning Joker's kit. Many of the things Leo does with Joker vs Peach can be applied to most MUs in the game. Rebel's Guard to discourage projectiles in neutral and even when offstage, Eigaon snipes, Xkarn edgeguards, Gun gimps, hook callouts following d-throw, fastfall drag u-airs and d-air stage bounce to u-smash, n-air pressure at ledge, etc. etc. Leo's tournament VODs are a in-depth tutorial on how to use Joker and yet you still have even other top players banking on Arsene cheese to be enough to get them out of a hole when they're trailing in a set a la Sm4sh-launch Diddy but have not started incorporating anything that the character can do other than what put them on the map initially. While this was fine for Sm4sh Diddy because Hoo-Ha did literally everything, this gets your ass beat when using Joker because he's not a point A to B flowchart character. Compare Nairo's Joker to Leo's and it become immediately obvious just how much Leo has pushed the character's kit and how everyone else is still doing month one strats.
This is even better than the EVO comeback... i thought he was going to lose to Nairo, Tweek, Samsora, Riddles and Zackray and he came back from all that. What a legend.

I don't think so. In the first set Samsara's turnips were incredibly effective and he was getting a lot of his kills off the ledge. Then on the second set he started reading each of Samsara's turnips and abused them for Rebel's Guard. There was also one of the stocks on the second set where he counters Peach's recovery for the kill. My guess is he was getting a good feel for Samsara's style on the first set, came up with a plan, then committed on the second set. The part I find crazy is how he can use those plans with such a high energy play style.
Indeed. It didn’t look like he was able to get over that and just was tilting. Samsora is always composed and robot-like during battle; but everyone saw how he just deflated after that loss. So close and he just couldn’t slay the demon. Major credit to MKLeo though; it looked like he was completely outmatched with Samsora’s Peach and just barely escape a loss to force a game 5. Leo is just totally unstoppable with his Joker and we’re all witnesses

Good? Sure. Entertaining? Not really. He always plays the safest option. From Ike to Joker. His playstyle revolves around characters with huge, painful aerials and borderline cheesy kill confirms. You always know what MKLeo is going to do next, it just works because the character always has the advantage.

Mad respect for MKLeo and Samsora. Both were great. MKLeo's focus and consistency is an inspiration. As humans, we always let our emotions affect us eventually. There's mental fatigue and so many factors in play. It doesn't matter what MKLeo does - this guy will live on as a legend.
You know, if there's anything MKLeo thrives off of, it's pressure and defensive play coming from his opponent. When his opponent is in a psychologically disadvantageous position, such as being at the cusp of victory, they begin to get more careful and defensive and antsy, and MKLeo's Joker absolutely demolishes that kind of playstyle. So many of his moves can lead to a kill and he can get away with so many of them because his opponent is scared to challenge/punish them. MKLeo Joker is truly perfect for the anti-winning playstyle, and once he takes away that little momentum from his opponent, it's already over. You're not winning now. And I'm not sure if you're going to start winning again.

Man, I know Samsora has always been a good player, but this tournament as a whole definitely solidifies him as one of the best in my mind. He beat Leo and Tweek to get to Grands, and tho he didn’t win in the end, he’s definitely proved his ability.
its amazing how much mental stress Leo puts his opponents thru, Samsora fought him 13 times in total during the whole tournament, 3-2 in winners, 2-3 and 0-3 in GF. Its exactly the same thing that happened at Evo, Leo comes from losers, ends up in a 2-1 match last stock situation with HUGE stock dissadvantage and manages to comeback, with everyone chanting "one more stock" in the background you can see how devastating those game 4 were to both Tweek (at EVO) and this time with Samsora, both were not able to take another game from Leo and ended up losing 3-0 after the reset. Meanwhile we have this Stoic Mexican mofo whose mental fortitud is unfathomable, his ability to adapt and move on after every death and lost fight is amazing, he just keep pushing until the oponent breaks. He even did it twice during the tournament, he also broke Zackay's spirit completely, he didnt even look like a pro player againts Light, his next opponent, he was just a shell of a broken young man. MKLeo, the destroyer of wills.

Or at 18:44, Leo was just walking around him and made a missed attack on the right, probably expecting a dodge from Peach. The pressure got to him. Really an amazing game.

This video is a bible for learning Joker's kit. Many of the things Leo does with Joker vs Peach can be applied to most MUs in the game. Rebel's Guard to discourage projectiles in neutral and even when offstage, Eigaon snipes, Xkarn edgeguards, Gun gimps, hook callouts following d-throw, fastfall drag u-airs and d-air stage bounce to u-smash, n-air pressure at ledge, etc. etc. Leo's tournament VODs are a in-depth tutorial on how to use Joker and yet you still have even other top players banking on Arsene cheese to be enough to get them out of a hole when they're trailing in a set a la Sm4sh-launch Diddy but have not started incorporating anything that the character can do other than what put them on the map initially. While this was fine for Sm4sh Diddy because Hoo-Ha did literally everything, this gets your ass beat when using Joker because he's not a point A to B flowchart character. Compare Nairo's Joker to Leo's and it become immediately obvious just how much Leo has pushed the character's kit and how everyone else is still doing month one strats.

I don't think so. In the first set Samsara's turnips were incredibly effective and he was getting a lot of his kills off the ledge. Then on the second set he started reading each of Samsara's turnips and abused them for Rebel's Guard. There was also one of the stocks on the second set where he counters Peach's recovery for the kill. My guess is he was getting a good feel for Samsara's style on the first set, came up with a plan, then committed on the second set. The part I find crazy is how he can use those plans with such a high energy play style.

Leo is literally the most humble top player there is. Did you know he offered Samsora 1v1 matches afterwards in order to practice his Joker matchup? Such a nice guy.
Leo is unbreakable, he could be down 2 games and 2 whole stocks an he’d still swing at you with confidence. Any other player would crack under the pressure.
I will always root for the underdog, but I cannot argue that MKLeo did not play well; he's #1 in the world in this game for a reason. Even in times where I think Arsene carries a bit much, MkLeo's neutral is out of this world.

Good? Sure. Entertaining? Not really. He always plays the safest option. From Ike to Joker. His playstyle revolves around characters with huge, painful aerials and borderline cheesy kill confirms. You always know what MKLeo is going to do next, it just works because the character always has the advantage.

Mad respect for MKLeo and Samsora. Both were great. MKLeo's focus and consistency is an inspiration. It doesn't even matter what sport or game, just the fact that someone doesn't lose confidence when odds are against him, keeping focused, is amazing. As humans, we always let our emotions affect us eventually. There's mental fatigue and so many factors in play. It doesn't matter what MKLeo does - this guy will live on as a legend.

You know, if there's anything MKLeo thrives off of, it's pressure and defensive play coming from his opponent. When his opponent is in a psychologically disadvantageous position, such as being at the cusp of victory, they begin to get more careful and defensive and antsy, and MKLeo's Joker absolutely demolishes that kind of playstyle. So many of his moves can lead to a kill and he can get away with so many of them because his opponent is scared to challenge/punish them. MKLeo Joker is truly perfect for the anti-winning playstyle, and once he takes away that little momentum from his opponent, it's already over. You're not winning now. And I'm not sure if you're going to start winning again.

Man, I know Samsora has always been a good player, but this tournament as a whole definitely solidifies him as one of the best in my mind. He beat Leo and Tweek to get to Grands, and tho he didn’t win in the end, he’s definitely proved his ability.

its amazing how much mental stress Leo puts his opponents thru, Samsora fought him 13 times in total during the whole tournament, 3-2 in winners, 2-3 and 0-3 in GF.
Its exactly the same thing that happened at Evo, Leo comes from losers, ends up in a 2-1 match last stock situation with HUGE stock dissadvantage and manages to comeback, with everyone chanting "one more stock" in the background you can see how devastating those game 4 were to both Tweek (at EVO) and this time with Samsora, both were not able to take another game from Leo and ended up losing 3-0 after the reset.
Meanwhile we have this Stoic Mexican mofo whose mental fortitud is unfathomable, his ability to adapt and move on after every death and lost fight is amazing, he just keep pushing until the oponent breaks.
He even did it twice during the tournament, he also broke Zackay's spirit completely, he didnt even look like a pro player againts Light, his next opponent, he was just a shell of a broken young man.

I feel like Samsora went really defensive after he had 2 stock advantage. The multiples dodges before he took a smash for example 17:26. Or at 18:44, Leo was just walking around him and made a missed attack on the right, probably expecting a dodge from Peach. The pressure got to him. Really an amazing game.
