I farm in southern Illinois, we got fairly lucky here. I did have to prevent plant about a 1/3rd of my acreage but my corn overall averaged 204 i believe. Beans aren't so great tho, maybe a 40 average if i'm lucky. Just to damn wet, they where mudded in. Hope things are going well for you in Ohio. We should be seeing higher grain prices but we aren't, very concerning.

@@tylerdurden8939 I like the name tyler durden. I don't know how things went in flat land Ohio. Down here in Southeast Ohio (We are in the foothills of the Appalachian Moutains. We don't have the standing water problems you guys have ) beans did well. I saw some corn that was still green a week and half ago.

Another advantage to cold weather. You don't need to ice your beer. Here in Minnesota, you need a cooler year round. To keep it ice cold in the summer and to prevent it from turning to ice in the winter.

I remember in the 80's when we ran coax cable from our barn to the house and had a single black and white closed circuit camera to keep an eye on things during lambing season. We had to pen up any ewe we thought might go that night and couldn't watch more than a few of them. Also had to get out of bed to check the single 6 inch monitor. Still it was so nice not having to dress for winter weather and visit the barn every couple hours through the night. Your dryer cameras take this to a whole other level.

Sorry to hear your corn crop is in such a lodged condition, In the past we would use our vermeer rotary v rake and windrow the crop and follow through with our Draper head. Last year we purchased a Hawkins corn reel and found it to work fantastic on our lodged corn...
Wishing you the best of luck to recover your crop..🙏

Many farmers in Central and Western Mn are having the same issues, of still having standing water in the fields and downed crops. We really didn't have much of an Autumn, too much rain, an early snow and colder than normal temps. If we get above average snowfall this year (I heard some meteorologists suggesting we could have upwards of 80" of snow), its going to make for a messy Spring. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that the harvest season wraps up soon for you.

Have had the same issue here in eastern Oregon because of a big wind storm and we took as much of the half way standing corn as we could, and finished the rest of the fallen down corn with our 35ft wheat header. Lot to run through the combine but it surprises you how well it will clean it out, have to remember seeing a couple more seeds behind the combine is better than seeing whole cobs👍🏻

I work on Nuclear Power plants for a living and most of them have large cone type stacks that are nothing but a way to remove heat from the cooling water. When the steam rises out of them I say the same thing "Look at all that money in the air" because that heat could have been used to spin a turbine rather than being removed with the cooling water.

50 to 60 years ago my family in southern Illinois did not combine corn we hand picked it. We tried to have at least 4 adult men, two on each side of a wagon, we walked along as the tractor or mule pulled wagon would move along very slow down a row of corn. The driver was usually an older child 10 to 15 years old. The smaller children would pick up some of the lower hanging corn and cobs that had fallen to the ground. Most of the fields were 10 to 40 acres, but there were times I have helped with fields as large as 80 to 100 acres.

I'm not a safety Sally at all but plugged heads and down corn is frustrating enough to make the most patient guy forget to take that moment it takes to use good judgement about how to solve the problem , and can leave a lifetime of regret !!!

2018 we had a problem with one number of corn that went down. Neighbor across the road had a WHOLE bunch of it planted, because it had been a very good yielding corn for the last couple years. 220+ bu/acre isn't so great when 20 bu/ac are laying on the ground behind the combine.

I just checked your stats on social blade, it says you have a total of 69,800,0099 total video views. That is impressive, great job on teaching us consumers.

Hope you will be able to get that corn up and salvage it. My grandmother was lucky to get her corn out before all this cold weather. Hope the week gets much better. Be safe.

Your still in good shape, we have 6000 acres of wheat and canola laying under about 8 inches of snow, so our harvest is done.

If a farmer ruled the world he would outlaw beepers in tractors.

@Steven Arnold no floor panel would be cloth and every cab would come with a complementary tool box. Not that pussy little handyman's box either, but the farmer is still kinda cheap so some of the tools they provided would be Stanley. 👏AND EVERY VEHICLE WOULD HAVE A JACK THAT WORKS WITH THE VEHICLE👏

all things considered , late spring and all you have pretty good yields and will get through with harvest long before a lot of farmers south of MN, the frozen trunda

Looks like your harvest is just as much a "challenge" as it has been here in southern Manitoba. Been near -20 last few days. Hang in there. Love your videos!!

That hybrid corn looks flat. I agree wouldn't use that again. Thank you for the video - sorry to see the harvest going so poorly at times. Have a great and safe Thanksgiving.

Great videos. I'm not a farmer, but a Roofing Contractor in Northwest Illinois, and our whole area is a farming community. Actually Woody Besse is from the same town. The weather this year has been terrible for us as well. Last week I had to shovel a 3' drift off of a roof, before we could tear it off and shingle. Four days later we were working in t-shirts in the afternoon. We usually barely have snow for Christmas, and have had two measurable ones in November already. Like you say, "at least it's cold too" lol
I would love to do videos of our work too, but I don't think I want to publish for OSHA and the world wide web our standard roofing procedures....
Keep it up they are enjoyable.

Wow! You've rated a Care-Package from the Minnesota Corn Growers - if that doesn't improve your attitude, I don't know what will! I hope and pray that you have a better year in 2020!)
