The best fix against blurry images is adjusting your expectations to something more realistic. I think many people, myself included were at first disappointed by the blurry images because we see the 4k representations of these VR games all over UA-cam but that is not in fact the quality you get when looking through these lenses.

I think that aswell. However, I remember using these cheap ass vr headset which you could use for samsung smartphone years ago, and putting on the psvr2 didnt really felt any better than that (from the lenses quality). The psvr2 really couldnt convince me for 600 bucks. Might consider buying it again when it gets cheaper. But for now idk. The only reason I would really like to buy it again would be to play Pavlov. Because it was insanely fun. Zenith was also cool but it gave me motion sickness pretty quick.

Amazing! Thank you very much for pointing out that one should not expect a crystal-clear rendering output in-game. I say this because some reviews suggest, or even show supposed in-game examples of crystal-clear rendering/output across the whole 3D environment. In my case having just purchased a headset a few days ago, I have found the image quality to be an acquired taste although of a very high standard! but nonetheless, not quite like looking at a flat HD screen. I started to wonder if I was missing something or possibly making some kind of mistake. But you have helped me to adjust my expectations perfectly, and along with your great set-up tips, I think that I can now enjoy my PSVR2 completely. Thank you very much indeed for an awesome and honest review! 🙂

The Globular Cluster CMP2 comfortable mod for the PSVR2 is the best and the ultimate solution for the PSVR2 sweet spot problems, I installed yesterday on my psvr2 and my sweet spot problems are definitely gone, everything is clearly now without any blurriness and it keeps the headset in place and it doesn't move anymore like it did before with the stock sony psvr2 pads, i don't have to keep adjusting the headset anymore because it stays and keeps everything in place no matter how much you move your head, I'm really happy with it, and i definitely recommend it 💯%

I have read and watched one more advice also, reducing the brightness from 100% (which is the default) to somewhere between 70% - 50%, and this reduce the Mura effect if it was visible, also makes it less grainy or blurry. But I am not sure about that, since I still didn't buy one yet.

Nice video, I had huge expectations of the PSVR2 after watching all those youtube reviews how amazing it is. Bought it and in first few min was very disappointed of the image quality, especially cause of those blurred sides. Now I know it is normal, but I was really expecting it to be crystal clear (not 1990 tv clear, but not the 4k crystal clear). After using it for a while I got used to image quality and like it a lot since all the rest (hand tracking, interaction with the game ) is really immersive,. But my question is if PSVR2 is considered one of the best VR on the market how the owners of other VR headsets shall feel?... Already waiting PSVR3 :D

For me I think the Quest 2 is still the better overall VR experience all in one headset but if you already have a PS5 then I suppose it makes sense to buy the psvr2. The biggest factor other than the blur issues is the cost of games on PSVR2 compared to Quest 2 and there’s no refund policy which is excellent with the Q2. It’s all good though in that it’s pushing the vr industry forward and there’s more pressure now on meta with the q3 and also on apple with whatever they bring out. Thanks for the comment

I totally agree, I sent mine back after three weeks of use..
The worst thing for me is the general head placement fit, it is way behind the Sony vr1 , I put the vr1 on and there's no messing about with a sweet spot and random adjustments .
The vr2 is a stunning bit of kit but I will wait for a much better deal on price and extras etc.
Like the Sony vr1 any problems will be put right in a updated version.

Just purchased mine and going to return it. I can't get over the blur outside of the focus area. I have the Index and Quest 2 and like them both better. The PSVR2 has the best image quality in the focus area but I want it all to be clear. I plugged it into my PC and set it up as a second monitor. Was thinking it would be an inexpensive way to do 1080P 120Hz OLED but after playing Diablo IV on it I just didn't like only having a clear image where I was looking in the game. I thought it was a PS5 software thing that was controlling the focus point but apparently it's built into the hardware. Because of this it's going back.

I don't mind the image not being as clear as the 2d image on a monitor. What I find strange on the ps vr 2, is that in a game with dim lighting, for example resident evil village, it gets so grainy that it almost completely blocks the view. This does not happen in well lit arias or where it should be completely dark. This has nothing to do with the clarity of the image, the image is in focus.

I knew nothing about VR the other day but I assumed the PSVR2 was perfect in terms of picture quality especially with high-res oled screens as I own a PS5 and know how good Sony TVs are. It wasn't until the Vision Pro and the ability to watch movies with a larger viewport that everyone started digging into this😂
Suddenly, everyone is scratching their head and asking "did they just say micro oled - did they mean micro led? what is micro oled?" Everyone's saying get a PSVR2 instead but then other people are saying "it's blurry" or "has mura" 😂
Now we know that Sony makes the micro oled screens that the Vision Pro will use and sadly the PSVR2 uses pentile oled instead of regular oled subpixel displays.

The strap is the problem I took off the psvr1 strap and put it on the psvr2 and now it works fantastically, my eyes just could not adjust to the psvr2 no matter what I did, it would constantly go out of focus by slipping up in the back and other problems. I feel people may not understand why they don't like the psvr2 and its the eye adjustment. If its to complicated for you to do what I did with the strap I would recommend getting a third party strap that might work which one I don't know.

You are the only reviewer that I found, that talks about that foveated rendering is not working in Most games.
I would even go as far and say ist does Not Work at all for me.
It really bothers me since it seems Like absolutely false advertising. Or my Headset is broken.
I saw reviewers, where one was looking at the TV Screen and the other was playing with the psvr2. The one in the psvr2 claimed he cannot See what ist Not Sharp since everywhere he ist looking it is Sharp.
The other one at the TV was able to see were he
    was looking.
In my case e.g. in Horizon it is only sharp where i turn my head. And you can clearly See it rendering at the Moment you Look at it.
I really wonder if this "reviewers" get payed by Sony or If my Headset is broken.
I can live with the shortcomings since it is still incredible immersive. But i am really pissed about this kind of false advertising.
Unfortunately i cannot look at other Headsets to compare.
In a Reddit Post they wrote it is Not about the foveated rendering Not working, but rather about the fresnel lenses that cannot make anything Sharp except in the middle of the lense. That would really sucks and i would gladly have payed 200€ more for better lenses If this is true...
I really Hope it is only a Software issue....

Thanks for your comment. From what I’ve read the foveated rendering will work within the limited area of the sweet spot as you say due to the limitation of the lenses. I don’t feel like I’ve really experienced it yet with this headset either but I assumed it wasn’t active in all games - I’m not the most technical channel so I might be wrong. But you should be able to look from the centre to the edge of the sweet spot and the focus will shift - i suppose it maybe too fast to notice the shift I’m not sure. I have the Quest pro and in red matter 2 the foveated rendering is very clear to notice but that has pancake lenses. To a person watching the video feed of the psvr2 though I’m pretty sure that they cannot see where the player is looking, they just get a clean image of the whole screen. There is definitely blur in the images but how much is very subjective and that is partly the problem with reviews as well.

Your hands should be the most focussed so if they are really blurry then is sounds like something isn’t right. With your hands in front of you see if you can adjust the headset so that they become focussed. They won’t be as sharp as a flat ps5 game but they shouldn’t be really blurry.

@Eat Sleep VR I have adjusted and adjusted till it can't get any clearer. I would rephrase though, it isn't so much blurry, just a lack of detail that I can confuse with blurriness. Although the rest is as crisp as I can get and exceeding my expectations!

@@EatSleepVR It doesn't have anything to do with lack of detail. It's known as vergence accommodation conflict and has to do with everything being displayed at the same focal distance in VR. Your brain has a hard time focusing on up close objects. You can trick your eyes by looking at something in the distance with something like your hands up close and they will get clearer. I've also noticed that up close objects have gotten clearer the more I play. So it appears the brain can be trained to adapt to it. I don't think it affects everyone.

I'm just praying to God this new patch they rolled out this morning fixes the controller issues. I left your controller refuses to work in Horizon. my right controller refuses to work in Resident Evil. Both controllers work just fine and all the menus. With as many people as this is affecting I know it's a software issue and I know I just received a notification at work that a new update was out today for the controllers. I pray to God this fixes the issue because I want to play other games not just GranTurismo

This was fixed in a recent update. In RE8 what I had to do previously was power off the left hand controller, then press X in game and then power back on the left controller. It worked after that. After the most recent update it's no longer necessary. Looks to have been resolved right before the in-store launch.

How are they going to get the performance of a dedicated computer inside a headset. I don’t think the wire is ideal but it’s not a huge deal. What’s more important is how lifelike the VR is. By time VR3 comes out, I imagine the industry will be there with true 4k real looking graphics for kinda affordable prices. But it’s awesome Sony did such a good job with this product it sounds like. It will be very interesting if someone finds a way in next 5-10 years to get true 4k looking visuals in a wireless setup. Don’t know how they are going to pull it off.

What is the point of fated rendering when the dumbass lens technology innately blurs the edges of the screen. I just don’t get it, what a stupid design move for the longevity of this product. Also, I’m surprised you didn’t do more research, the reason it’s blurred isn’t because of the lack of fated rendering, it’s because of the lens technology. I don’t understand how these guys are professional reviewers.
