    An epic, comprehensive video RJ and I think the best coverage of the NEC on UA-cam, I did have to watch it in 4 chunks which may impact your viewing stats. Some awesome machines there.I plan to visit the show sometime but at the moment that is just not possible because of commitments I have but I will go.

      Thanks, there are lots of NEC vids out there, I guess everyone doing YT uploads has their own take and favourite vehicles so hopefully they'll all have their own flavour, rather than being rinse-and-repeat as (for example) some new-car-launch vids tend to be. I've not watched any other uploads as yet but I will check out a few, now mine's done :-)

    This guy's classic car videos/ commentaries are in a league of their own. He tells you things about all sorts of classics, including strange and generally unknown quirks/idiosyncrasies. His knowledge is unrivalled and conveyed accurately and succinctly! Well done sir....best on UA-cam and beyond!

    Feedback on the calendars, ordered one and it arrived at my door in Australia only 8 days later, excellent quality.😊

      Ha I promise not all videos will be this long in future, but here there was a lot to see :-) Thanks for letting me know re the calendar, would you mind posting your feedback in the comments of the video I did about the calendar? It'd be nice to gather feedback in there if possible, thanks.

    There is something about seeing your own car in other people's videos 😃, I have been trawling through videos to find out what people have been saying about her. The Anglia at 1:21:14, called Lizzie, is ours. She was first registered in 1956 and is the Anglia Delux, so has the chrome fittings, Delux dash and, most importantly, a heater (which was on full blast on the way home).

    • @oldclassiccarUK
      @oldclassiccarUK  Місяць тому +1

      Yep I remember seeing it, I'd have liked to spend more time looking at individual cars but then the video would have been about 3 weeks in duration :-) Yes heaters are good!

      @@oldclassiccarUK There was a lot there, We were there on Saturday and Sunday and by the end of it my legs were aching. Once the show closed I had to drive home, 3 hours in a 68-year-old car with sore, but warm, legs.

    Wow, what an epic , and the most superb quality camera work and as expected knowlegeable narration on seemingly everything !.Must admit , the incredibly original Alvis Speed 20 and TD21 at 2h 14m are breathtakingly beautiful .Thanks for the treat Richard.

      Glad you enjoyed it! I've not used this particular camera indoors all that often (last time was in that French car museum), so I was quite pleased how it came out. Yes the Speed 20 was in great condition, thanks for checking this one out.

    Great showing of the Vauxhall Victor club stand. It's the first year that the Victor club has ever had a stand at the NEC.
    I took the '59 F-type. I did see you filming the car but I didn't say anything as you were filming. You have previously caught my V8 rover p6 on camera at the "off the rails" meet at the Crewe heritage centre as well as at Capesthorne hall 🙂

    • @oldclassiccarUK
      @oldclassiccarUK  Місяць тому +2

      Ah righty yes I remember the car, and someone sitting behind it I think, next time say hello! Yep the stand looked good, I hadn't realised that it was the club's first NEC outing.

    Hi, thanks for this great video. The dark green mini van is definitely “Post Office Telephones” (They all were painted yellow eventually for H& S reasons) The holes in roof are for the ladder rack and we always had the tyre pressures painted above the wheel arch on all vehicles.

    What a great collection of wonderful cars! Here, in Australia, Ford Anglias and Prefects were considered to be low quality, cheap cars so I am quite impressed with the huge following the preservation of such cars seem to have in the U.K. However, Morris Minors and Minis and their derivatives were very popular here, as were Ford Zephyrs and Vauxhalls. Because of the long distances we travel in Australia, six and eight cylinder cars have been the best sellers, and many of us are still sad about the demise of Ford and Holden manufacturing in this country.

    • @oldclassiccarUK
      @oldclassiccarUK  Місяць тому

      Economy four-cylinder cars were/are the mainstay of the car market here in the UK really, the Anglias etc date to the pre-motorway era so the only long trips undertaken were usually for holidays

    Some really beautiful cars. Like you I love the older ones. (I cant get excited about Fords from the 70s and 80s). I've not been able to go to this at the NEC for a couple of years. I really must make the effort next November.

    Can remember one of my uncles having a black E83A van back in the late 50s early 60s and my dad buying a new Thames minibus, and how the styling of them looked worlds apart when they were parked next to each other. 🙂

    • @oldclassiccarUK
      @oldclassiccarUK  Місяць тому

      Ha yes the flat-fronted 400E was a world apart from the pre-war designed E83W!

    I was once the proud owner of a Volvo 145 Estate It was bronze in colour, with vinyl roof. Very posh. Except it was dented in various places, with a long knife cut in the vinyl. It was running on only three cylinders by the time it went to teat great scrapyard in the sky. I replaced it with a blue 245.

    Richard - you must have read my mind! Not five minutes before watching this I was wondering when you were going to cover this show! I tried watching another site's post but it simply wasn't up to your high standard - still I suppose the classic car itch has to be scratched. The Mk 1 Zephyr/Zodiacs brought back yet another memory. In 1988 I had a good friend who had a garage specialising in these which were well loved by people into rockabilly music and fashion. He turned up outside a much loved Newcastle pub called The Broken Doll in his Mk 1 Zephyr which he couldn't get started on a hot night after having a drink. He was a master mechanic but after trying every trick he knew the engine refused to cooperate. So I poured my pint over the engine and told him that it was just thirsty. Lo and behold it started right away and he and his wife drifted away happily. Ny favourite car is and always has been the Ford Pilot as my Dad had two when I was a young lad.

    Sorry but I should have added that Post Office Telephones started to repaint the fleet to yellow I think it was around 1969 as I drove one about then for two years and it was dark green. Eventually the complete fleet, over 40,000 vehicles were repainted mostly by hand to yellow at their own workshops, all new vehicles arrived already yellow. Brought back some good memories. Thanks

    When the Volvo 262c Came out, their advertising said "the car the for people who think." Car and Driver magazine changed that to "the car for people who shrink", in their review of the 262c. My high school mind found that really hilarious. I still kinda want one...

    • @oldclassiccarUK
      @oldclassiccarUK  27 днів тому

    I never new there were so many derivatives of some cars like the triumph Italia for instance , although I was driving age in the late sixties I couldn’t afford much , my first car was a standard 10 old banger which cost me £20 , there many beautiful shapes in early cars and so many now look the same although I absolutely love my Jaguar F type R AWD 5 litre 550 HP, my dad bought a new Austin A 35 in 1957 I remember and after that a Vauxhall victor F type and then an FB
