WINTER CAMPING in 13°F (-10°C) | Backpacking in the Snow + New Gear!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 лют 2025
- Winter has finally arrived and all of our favorite trails and peaks are covered in a blanket of snow - but that's not going to stop us from pitching our tent out in the mountains! This is our first time ever winter camping and sleeping in temperatures below 20 degrees. We're not really sure what to expect, but we've got a new winter tent and warmer sleeping pads so hopefully it won't be too miserable. Enjoy! :)

Thanks as always for watching! 🙏🏼 We're still trying super hard to get UA-cam to appreciate the hard work we're doing here, so if you could "like" and subscribe, that'd help tremendously! It's free and we'll love you forever haha! Cheers guys and Happy New Year!
Been subbed for awhile now and my wife and I always look forward to seeing new videos! Keep up the good work and best of luck in 2021!
That looks both miserable and wonderful at the same damn time. I love this.
Haha the perfect description right there! Cheers bro.
Ps I love you.
Cody
I rly like your Vids because there are no heavy Music or extraordinary Transitions just Nature and good Filming 👌
Agree with that!!!
It’s just Beautiful ☺️
Thanks! We did our snow camping in the closed campground at Lake Alpine near Bear Valley using a regular tent and it was OK. We stretched a tarp on top and got ~5 inches of snow on it in the morning. The silence of the snow terrain was mesmerizing.
Beautiful video. I have an Alps Mountaineering Aries, been great and used it in winter. It is mesh. Not great for very windy but you don’t get much condensation. Also, I use plastic grocery bags as stakes. Fill them with snow and bury. Love your work!
If you're consistently getting a single view from Japan know it's me. I just can't get enough of your videos. So soothe and calming. Love it ❤️
Haha thanks a ton! 🙏🏼 Stoked to hear someone in Japan is watching
@@codyandvictoria your videos could appeal to anyone and everyone.
P. S. I'm a Sri Lankan living in Japan.
You guys are such a cute couple. It's hard to find a person who shares the same interests and is not afraid to get into challenging situations. Thanks for sharing!
It really did feel like watching a mini doc. Felt more than a vlog for sure. 👌 Well done you two.
You kids did great! Nice to see younger generation appreciate nature. Also enjoyed production value of video. Look forward to seeing more from this channel in ‘21.
Thank you🙏
One of my favorite things about your edits is how you take the time to put the camera on a tripod to have you BOTH in the shot, but then in post add just the tiniest amount of fake movement to make it look handheld...Genius.
Loved watching you guys get out winter camping for the first time! It might just be my favorite time of year to go backpacking/travelling!
It's a fine line of proper ventilation and keeping the tent space warm.
The great thing about winter camping in the snow is you can pitch a tent just about anywhere, there are no bugs, no mud or dirt, and very few people. And let's not forget about the absolute beauty of a winter landscape!
Another nice vid, you two. 100% can recommend getting touring skis or splitboards. There is so much more float than snowshoes.
We've got em! Just not in this video 🤙🏼🤙🏼
You guys are such a breath of fresh air! I cranked up the AC here in Dubai and really enjoyed the feeling of being there in the snow!
I mean setting up the shot, walking past the camera and then going back for the camera in shoes is one thing but doing it in SNOW SHOES!!!? Guys, I salute you. Nice vid :)
Haha! It's a challenge for sure. Going to be even worse on the splitboard! Thanks for noticing 😋
TRUTH!! I snowshoed for first time last week, HARDER to gather footage!,Equally appreciate those B-Roll shots!
I thought exactly the same.. tough trip :)
I totally noticed this too, but in all the shots of both of them, there is still camera shake. How is the camera moving? Either its an after-effect or someone is with them filming.
@@robertlester9566 just an effect. There's zero parallax but still sells the effect.
Love the scenery, tranquility and you two just enjoying each others company.🤗 Been listening to your Music 🎶 Bed playlist this last week, sweet. Enjoy!
Thank you☺️ Enjoy the mountain vibes💙

What a perfect allround climate you have over there, nice and sunny in the summer, REALLY white in the winter!! And then we have some Cody over there, and some Victoria over there.. really nice one guys.. I do wonder how you keep all of these batteries alive! Loved the drone shots on top of the tent as well. Just perfect to set the tone!! Wishing the cutest camping couple lots of fun and adventurous trips in 2021 :)
Y’all just keeping on motivating the world with your beautiful souls! Best energy to share with people.
This is the best compliment we could ever receive🙏 Thank you💙
-V
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing this. I love your attitude “the good news is we are alive.” Good news, indeed.
Haha thanks Scott! 🙏🏼 Appreciate you watching and supporting! Hoping to stay alive well into the future 😅
The best stories in my memory is not from trips with blue sky. Keep sharing. Love it.
Cody! With two of you, try out a 3 person tent. It's more surface area to distribute your breath vapor. Black Diamond Hilight 3 could be good if you're under 6ft tall (find it on sale!) Also, did the canister stove take forever? If so, there are some great white gas stoves that will pressurize better! Good video! Thinking of moving to the Tahoe area in 8 months and really starting my UA-cam journey. My channel will still be hiking gear, but ill do Kraig Adams/Erik Normark type stuff in the Sierra.
Amazing video you two! I’ve been wanting to snow camp for YEARS now but just never really pulled the trigger on that. Would LOVE a video dedicated on snow camping in general, what to expect, and any words of wisdom you gained from the experience!
Funny, in preparation for my first winter backpacking trip this year, I just re-watched this video, forgetting that I've already seen it years ago lol! Anyways, I'm doing it! Hope to see more winter backpacking videos from you two this winter season!
Legitimate snowy conditions 😎
Consider a vapor barrier liner for your bags. Keeps condensation from the bag and adds warmth. That and a bivy sack will keep your bag lofty on multi-night trips. VBL socks will also keep your boots dry. Nothing worse than frozen boots in the morning!
Great video! Scott’s lake has been one of my favorites for camping! Fun to see it in the winter time!!
Keep up the great content:)
Thanks for sharing another banger of a video guys! Such a beautiful part of the world. Respect for the all the extra effort involved in setting up the shot and walking past and then going back to get the camera etc. Haha. You don't really think about that sort of stuff unless you're interested in filmography too.
Also, it's crazy to see you in this winter wonderland currently, whereas it's in the thick of summer here in Australia!
Happy New Year lovebirds! I love to snowshoe when I was on active duty with the Army.
Man, wet and cold is a no no. Great video guys!
Congratulations! The quality of your videos is amazing. And I find them very relaxing.
I LOVE you two! Live it up! You’re inspiring and real; and that’s what our world needs.
Thanks a ton Ryan. Trying our best. 😊
Beautiful film! You made winter camping look like a dream
I love you guys, I'm totally addicted to your videos. They are so natural and amazing😍.
I snowshoed up Burney Mountain from the town of Burney. Its a 4,500 ft climb so I snow camped partway up and it was in the low 20's that night. When camping on snow its important to have a thick sleeping pad because the cold of the snow goes right through a sleeping bag. I was wearing all my ski clothes in my 30 degree bag and I was still cold, didn't freeze but didn't get much sleep either. I didn't have a ventilation problem but the inside of my tent wasn't much warmer than outside. Despite the uncomfortable night the sunrise on snow covered lava rock fields and rime covered lookout tower still made it worth it. There is no trail I used a compass to navigate.
Sorry for my english but for moisture you can use fleece blanket on the sleeping bag during the night. With this, moisture is not for the sleeping bag but for the fleece blanket. For 3 day hikking it can be better ^^
Hi nice people. The instant I saw your tent I had a bad feeling about condensation. Alps Mountaineering is an affordable company that can make sturdy tents. I have a 3 season Taurus 4 that I modified for my stove and winter camping, it’s a beast. Unfortunately your rain fly has no Apex vents like mine. The inner vent has nowhere to eject the moisture. At least one vent up high on the rain fly would have helped a lot. It’s also good to wear a balaclava. Covering your mouth traps a lot of the condensation and reduces what is ejected in the tent. Just wearing a neck fleece or buff over your mouth can work but moving around in your sleep can cause it to come off your face while a balaclava can almost lock in place. Try to keep the door open a bit while playing cards to vent and close up when you go to sleep. That was a cool spot and peaceful video. Bye 😊❤️🇺🇸❄️☃️🛷🔥⛺️🌄
Wow, I really love the flow and how you guys document your stuff. The personal touch you guys add into your content is something that I feel is missing with a lot of travel/adventure videos out there. Can't wait to see more stuff from you, huge inspiration. Thanks for sharing!
Preciate you Terrence!
Y'all are pretty awesome. Living a great life, doing really cool things, being an inspiration.
Your banff back country camping inspired my bf and I. And I have been asking him to try winter camping. Maybe when I show him this video he'd be swayed. As usual beautiful footage... 😇
Looked like a fun time guys!
I was touched by your video by chance.Your video depicting Mothe Nature in a calm way is the best.I like hiking, too.I've subscribed. I'll watch your other videos from time to time to time.
Very beautiful as always 📣🤞
U guys should try to visit lake Louis its gonna be worth it trust me the most beautiful place in North America
That's just nice. You know, when something is just great, anything else.
Lovely to watch, nice done! 🏔
Oooof! Looks cold, but fun! Inspiring to watch your adventures.
i live vicariously through these videos
We love to hear it! Although we'd love it more if you were inspired to get out there and experience some of it for yourself. It's a beautiful world out there. 😊 Thanks so much for watching
I can't wait to have a good internet connection to be able to replay the video .
Have à good day 😊
I was playing "The Long Dark" and then saw this vid, u guys are survivors. Looking forward for more winter videos 🤟
Appreciate you guys getting out and trying new things... Really curious to see your experience with a splitboard touring setup. I ski tour camp and I find skinning much more efficient than snowshoes. Love the channel and happy new year from Switzerland!
Agreed! I do the same in Switzerland (ski tour camp) with skis rather than a splitboard. I'm not a fan of snowshoes so I much much prefer to ski tour :)
We aren't a fan of snowshoes either lol we're looking forward to using our splitboards set up next time☺️
-V
@@codyandvictoria yea, you guys shred 🏂🏂 seems like splitboard camping would be perfect.
Just wanted to make sure we wouldn't die before fully committing to the splitties 😂
Cody
These little videos are just so amazing and inspiring ❤️🙏🏾great stuff guys
🙏 preciate you
Always enjoy your content Cody. Great clips and really nice color grade ... 2.7 miles in the snow with all that gear AND filming yourself along the way... NOT EASY! I would die! Totally dig both of you guys! Keep up the good work and you should have 500k subs!!!!
Fantastic we just dont get snow like that many places in the UK, I was out hiking today in the snow there was 2inches and I was well pleased with that. Thanks for sharing your fun.
Loved the vlog! Cool to see all of your adventures! And so much respect for sleeping out in that weather
Another great vibey video! happy new years to you both! You can count on a view and a thumbs up from me on every video you guys post! more please!
You're the best Rodrigo!! Always appreciate the love 🙏🏼
Every time I click your videos first thing I gotta do is change that resolution to 1080p. It’s always an experience watching you man.
Awesome video guys! looks like a beautiful night in the mountains. I ALWAYS bring hand warmers but usually only use them for my camera batteries lol
Haha I hear that!
Cody
The scenery is so nice, i am an asian backpacker, nice video watch
Every vid is a work of art, you guys are killing it! Thanks for bringing us along on these rad adventures
My duuuudddeee. Always appreciate you stopping by 🙏🏼
Great video as always! Cody stomping the snow for the campsite ended up with him basically doing a t-Rex impersonation!
You guys are so inspirational, and once I’ve recovered from surgery I’m going to try and explore much more of the countryside in the UK!
Heal up my dude! 🦖
Was surprised you guys didn't take out the split boards for this. I am assuming after post-holing so much, they'll be making an appearance in the next video ;)
Yeah man! Had to make sure we wouldn't die first before committing to the splitties 😂 I think setting up these tripod shots on the splitty is gonna be a challenge tho.
@@codyandvictoria Good call. I feel like it would be easier on the split board to set up... Just a much wider turn radius though 😂 😂
You must be mad - I felt the cold just watching you two. Happy and Safe New Year to you both. Take Care.
Props to you guys for shooting a video like this in the snow and cold. That takes a ton of work and it turned out super well! Keep up the great work!
Great video guys! I love watching your adventures. Love the relaxed editing and pacing in these too.
Heys guys... looks beautiful. Trying winter camping this winter for the 1st time. Based on all your condensation I think I’ll use my 3 season tent!
Beautiful shots, awesome project!
Thank's for sharing my friend .
This was a very nice episode :)
I salute you for carrying all that gear and shooting a video on a tripod! Walking back and forth in those conditions must've been tough :p
The end result was worth it ;)
you two stoke me out.
just got back from a New York trip. ready to use my snowshoes and winter camper van.
You might not realize it, but that was a fantastic video. It couldn't have been super comfy, but you both showed nothing but enjoyment for being out in the great outdoors. I already know, but you should really appreciate a woman that is willing to do that with you, and always seem to be enjoying the adventure. Thank you for sharing this. Have you ever checked out Alti-Ski Hok skis for such adventures?
Love it, guys! All the good winter feels. I’d be interested in a tent update on the soaked bags.
Definitely will be using it again
We went to REÍ today to start planning some camps, 🙌🏻💪🏻 moving to Oregon from Vegas def is different. These vids make camping look so much fun, can’t wait to start exploring and sharing our vids too,
All these tips are great! Thanks!
Vegas to OR is definitely a good change of pace!! So excited for you and the all of the adventures to come!
-V
Another great video. Truly appreciate all the work you both do to put out solid content that is enjoyable to watch.
Nice video, always an experience 😀 can't wait to do it again this year
I love you guys' videos. I've definitely been inspired by watching you guys to go out to hike and explore. But one thing I haven't been able to do is actually camp at night. It's mainly because I don't have knowledge about what sort of equipment (such as tents, clothing, shoes, bags, sleeping bags etc) to buy and what's considered entry-level vs advanced. I think many of us newly introduced to this would definitely value a lot of if you make a "what's in my hiking bag" kind of a video. Thanks! And great video as always :)
We'll definitely consider it! Thanks for watching 😊
Go Fish!! Nice added touch! I appreciate your work. Keep going! Probably one of my favorite channels. And...now you have encouraged me to winter camp here in the Midwest! Cheers to 2021 friends!
This is what i need to watch after hectic day at work, make me calm. damn, its so pretty. good job guys
Good job guys! Stay outside homie
🤘🤘🤘
Love the adventure bro!! This is awesome!
thanks my man!! Hope you're well
I love this. I cant wait for us to get snow so i could go to Glacier...aww.. thanks Cody n his girl!!
This is so next level! Loved the video and made me want to do some winter camping ASAP
It's honestly kinda sick man! Easy way to avoid literally everyone 😂
What a beautiful spot!
Great job guys! It will be a Looooonnngg time until I’m ready to sleep outside when it’s that cold! 🥶
Got me planning new adventures ❄️
The subtle camera shake on the unmanned shots really adds so much.
I was wondering if anyone noticed that. Had me thinking they had another person there filming.
Enjoyed your snow camping video.
LOVED it, thanks guys!
So impressive! Great Great Great content! Love it so much!
You guys are amazing, love your videos 😍😊
Thank youuuu🙏
-V
Beautiful footage. I'm from Malaysia and can't feel how the snow camping like. It looks fun!
Great video. Awesome experience. Good backpacking gear choice. Condensation is unavoidable even in two walls tents. Sometimes mother nature helps with the wind and sometimes it doesn’t. That’s why I just added a very small, battery driven, fan to my single wall tent to help reduce condensation to the minimum. Even with that, sometimes, condensation is unavoidable. What is your favorite backpack for winter camping? Thank you so much for sharing this video. God bless you.
Such a nice soft snow.. I have never used snow shoes..have used bog shoes.
Enjoyed your video, brilliant filming:)
Happy New Year!
You guys are brave. The snow is so beautiful and peaceful but brrrr!! Great video! Happy New Year!
Nice job guys 👍⛺️ Really enjoyed this one. Would you recommend the tent based on the amount of condensation you had? What is the R rating for your pads? Any other pad layer under your blow up pad?
I think the tent is fine. Just needs more ventilation. We were just worried we would be cold. Sleeping pads are the Kelty Cosmic. I think it's 4 r-value
Cody
Great video. Looks beautiful there. I love winter, love snow, and I love to hike in the snow, but I'll pass on camping in the winter. Just subbed.
I never would have thought I would camp in the winter in snowy conditions but having the right gear with you goes a LONG way👍 Thanks for watching us💙
-V
Do you ever have issues with camera gear, mainly lenses, when condensation builds up in the tent or is everything pretty safe inside the camera bag?
Happy new year the blues !:)
Thank youuuu!! Happy New Year to you as well💙
-V
Great trip! Best!
Love your videos. Thank you for all the hard work (I know it takes more than people see). Always fantastic quality and storytelling. What font do you use? Very classy- timeless.
This vid Victoria (9:15): "You always make me do crazy things."
Recent vid Victoria: "I wanna go base jumping!"
Haha wow, have I changed🤣

Notification squad here! I'm a normal person, I see Cody & Victoria, I smash the like button, I comment and then I enjoy the film ❤️
You're the best Sofia! 😊 Thanks a ton!
