- I went snow camping for the first time! I've camped in the winter before, but I've never done a proper snow camping trip - until now! In this video, I packed up all my winter gear and took my dog on a snow camping adventure.

Dying at the Sasquatch reference at the end.
YEEEESSSSS!!!..... she’s back!!!! Oh how we’ve missed you Lady Miranda!
Here here!
"I smell like onions"
*camping endearment intensifies*
Winter camping is the best! No bugs, no bears and very little people. Just hung out in my hammock at -13F. It was great. Good video and a lot of fun to watch. Take care, Al
This is what I am thinking, especially for thru hikes. My biggest concern would be trails on or near vertical drops might be dangerous.
HAMMOCK? -13F?!
I love it! I’m also in a hammock all year. Summer @ 89* fun; winter @ -17* fun . If you can understand insulation, it’s easy, and so quiet and peaceful.
@@ublade82gotta get an under quilt rated for atleast 0f. Outdoor vitals makes a down one
"Tastes good. Tastes like whiskey. And I like whiskey." -- Maybe there should be Miranda in the Wild quotes on t-shirts and stickers! ... Anyway, I've never camped in real winter conditions like this, so I enjoy learning about it! Thanks, Miranda!
Id buy it LOL
REI really needs to do that!
I would buy it and then some! 😂🤣
Miranda gives the same chaotic energy as zaboomafoo and I'm here for it
Missing Zaboo!
Omg… my heart just melted! Childhood nostalgia
You should demonstrate how to stake down a tent on snow in the wind properly. Normal tent pegs are useless in the snow. The quickest way is to start with a couple of trekking poles (or skis and ski poles) and then add some deadmen (deadpeople??) as needed.
Couldn’t agree more. Stake the tent down properly and use all the guy lines!! Pure Lazy. Doesn’t secure tent yet wastes time making snowmen??? Also agree that the dumping the tent out of the bag on the snow during a windy day would be fail.
Good to see you back, Miranda and crew. Whoever is doing the editing needs a raise. They're doing really high quality work
Miranda! We just finished our BSA Scout Klondike yesterday. First time in four years that I've done it where there was a foot of snow on the ground. It was crazy fun but a new experience for our Scouts to manage.
This winter I had encouraged my Scouts to practice in their backyards before hitting the event because they can make adjustments easier at home. It's empathetic watching you struggle but I hope you can revisit this cold-weather experience and stress to campers to shake down at home before hitting the snow fields.
Keep the great videos coming, it's VERY IMPORTANT (for my female BSA Scouts) to see females enjoying our natural world and taking on new challenges!
Erin
Erin, that's such a great tip! Practicing at home is always a good idea! - Miranda
All I learned is that "...apparently, poop is an organ." 😂
Yes she is finally back
honestly backpacking or camping in winter is a progression that test your dedication. You have to buy so many layers and things to be warm. Fun none the less but definitely it takes a lot of dedication to jump into it!
I started my kids with car camping in the snow. they felt like they had an anchor point, like we could bail if they weren't feeling it.
they took to it like fish in water. it's just camping, but soggy and cold.
the younger they are, the more changes of clothes they'll want/need.
Tent: *farts*
Miranda: excuse you!
I love this show

Miranda has such a wonderful weirdo spirit I love watching her adventures :)
I’d like to see more of the crew too! Like your village in the snow. That’s if the producers actually camped too! Awesome videos!
Miranda needs to release an album of her little songs. I'd buy it!
Yesssssss Miranda is the light we need in these dark times. Camping BOSS!!
The happy flapping @0:31 is adorable and how I feel every time I’m in the snow.
I just stumbled across this show. I absolutely love her! Miranda is so endearing, knowledgeable, and just so cute and funny. I am loving binge watching all her episodes. I haven’t stopped laughing. This show is greatness!❤️🌈😊
Nala always is the star of the show! She is adorable in her sleeping bag.
Lentil soup is insaaaaane! Definitely gonna make myself a big fat batch of it if I ever go snow camping.
Pro-tip: place your fuel canister in a small cup of liquid water (doesn't even have to be hot) while cooking. It'll keep the can above freezing, increase the vapor pressure, and make it burn much better.
I don't know about feces, but your body does have to keep urine above a certain temperature (between 90-100 F). So it's definitely a good idea to pee right before bed. I usually pee 1/2 an hour before bed and then try to pee again right before I go to bed
Feces definitely isn’t sterile and the temperature our body keeps our urine is almost perfect for most bacteria. Urine would need to be boiling hot for that to be true. You are much more likely to be cold from getting up in the night to pee if you don’t go just before bed though.
The bladder has its own bacterial flora, 30+ strains at minimum. Like everything else that comes out of us better stuff going in means better stuff coming out
it doesn't have to keep it warm as much as poop and pee are mass which will reach thermal equilibrium with the rest of the body when inside. Eliminating that extra mass will leave less overall mass that your body will need to heat to maintain normal body temps.
Dear Miranda. In a time in my life with many uncertainties that bring me anxiety, you bring me joy. Love from Ft. Collins!
We appreciate the love, Chris! ❤️
LOL Big Foot in the background was a nice touch!!
"Snowperson"... thank you for including everyone, regardless of gender. Really making a difference 👍😁
When you were making up a funny song to sing to your dog it was extremely relatable. I sing improvised songs about and to my dog all the time. 😂
I'm happy that REI has such an upbeat and fun ambassador!
I get a bit anxious watching Miranda trying to survive in the cold but I can't stop watching. Her spirit endures!
Yeah she’s back !
Yay! Glad you’re back “gosh darn it”!
Love the snow Glamping and the lights and the hugeeee tent for 1 person, it's like a mini-hut!
"so I don't have to blow my own bacteria ridden breath into it." Then proceeds to blow into it. lol I've done the same thing. Glad to see another video.
And moisture. Valves freeze in those sleeping pads in winter if you breathe into them. Using a bag assist is a great idea.
Nah. Bernoulli forces and stuff mean that most of the air that reaches the bag when you blow at it from a distance actually comes from the surrounding air. That also lets you effectively get more air per breath.
So much Miranda, its more-anda, merry more-anda-mas. It is customary to celebrate with whisky flavored whiskey, the release of bodily gases, and casually mentioning poop.
AWESOME video! So much fun to watch. So glad Miranda's back! Love the camp lights too.
This video was such a joy to watch! While I love REI, Miranda has such a light hearted and fun personality I'd watch it just to see her and the adventures she has.
So much fun!! Always so entertaining.
I thoroughly enjoyed your vid. Thank you Miranda!
String lights in a tent are a MUST. Such a mood.
Sorry for your loss.

She found it! She mentions it at 21:46 ... All is well again, lol!
@@heartfan8257 I forgot that
Your personality and humor are so infectious. Pupper was awesome as was the video! Well done!
Thank you for the video. Always looking forward to a new episode.
A couple more tips that have worked for me in winter camping:
Pee right before bed!!
“Sleeping socks” - have a pair of clean socks that you keep in your sleeping bag, and stay there! Change into them when you’re settling in your bag.
Great video - so glad to have found this channel! Immediately subscribed.
Great to have you back, looking forward for season 2.
YES! Perfect timing with our snow dump in the Seattle area! Thanks, Miranda! 🤍
She has great energy (soothing and fun), and this was surprisingly entertaining.
You are so much fun to watch!. Smile and laugh the whole time.
Yay!! More Miranda!
Phrases that will have a totally different meaning in Europe "It is 26 degrees...."
"I have a zero degree bag"
26 degrees you say, well hello summer!
I camped in Big Bear, CA in the snow Nov 2020 for the first time too. The low was 8°. Had tons of fun. I'm glad to see you back Miranda!!!
Really enjoyed this clip, Miranda you are priceless. I’m a outdoor guy from Scotland and find a lot of your vids fun and informative. Keep up with this format.
A smaller tent or more people helps. For one person and a dog/kiddo in winter, a 2 person 4 season tent can maintain 10+F warmer than the outside ambient air temperature. My six year old son and I went on his first winter camp out, no snow unfortunately which that looked fun. But, 26F outside and 37 inside, he had my wife's zero degree bag, and slept like a rock. I had the Nalgene trick up my sleeve in case he got cold. But, my old Sierra Designs Omega 2 can zip up all mesh which that and rainfly trap a fair amount of body heat inside. REI, she's a real treasure, keep paying for her backpacking adventures!! These are fun and hilarious!!
Totally enjoyed this video! Makes snow camping seem accessable.
So glad these are back!
Yay!!! Welcome back!
Looks like so much fun.
I totally enjoyed this
I am very happy to find your channel. Had a good chuckle thank you plus I pretty much had a smile the whole time.❤
This looks so fun!
BTW - you totally need to do a tutorial on making the koozie.
Best video to date! I especially like the sound effects (of putting the rain fly on).
BIGFOOT!!!
Yay Miranda! I like to live vicariously through your adventures since I hate the outside
Love the glamp camp. Very nice.
Everyone should strive to be as awesome as Miranda
Awesome! I was going to try an end of winter night or two this year. Thanks to you I now feel better about it. Your vids are extremely helpful!
11:32 I used this tip this past weekend for camping in 35F weather (as far as I'm concerned that's arctic temperature). It worked GREAT! The nalgene bottle really held heat. (And I bought it at REI lol)
3 day old clothes is a good way of hiding scent to find Sasquatch 😆
Yay!! Miranda's back! Love the new intro!!!!
Always fun videos.
Glad to see you're back Miranda. Missed you
So stoked for Miranda’s return. You’re the best, please keep it up!
Woooh!! New Episodes!!!
for the tent "platform"...
allow the snow to set up for 30 minutes after you have made your flat area. you will find that the surface becomes much stronger.
That was delightful.
I had gone camping in the snow for the first time like 3 weeks ago. I wish I had seen this before but really helpful for the next time I do it!
So, what this video proves is that Bigfoot doesn't hibernate.
Yes he makes a guest appearance at the end
Miranda from VA, yeeee!
Luv this!
This is such a great video!!! I love the shameless overpacking!!! Looks like it was actually comfortable!
Wonderful!
New possibilities for Room Service! Never forget the carrot and Miranda didn't....Can't help but smile! :)
Hahahahahahaha!!!! That was GREAT!!! It looked like you had a really fun time, Miranda--and the Macarena at the end was the icing on the cake! Hahahahaha!!! Thanks for sharing your adventure with us! I loved it!
So happy to have you back Miranda! Your first snow camping experience went way smoother than my first 😆👏. This was so great, looking forward to the dehydrated food vid!

5:49 is honestly my favorite part. I replayed it at least 20 times in a row LMAO. How I've missed watching your videos Miranda!
