Hey ... Guys ... The whole mushroom is edible ... Especially the skin contains valuable micronutrients ... The stem too is edible ... Just wipe it with a damp cloth or paper towel ...
This is my first time cooking a mushroom, I have trypophobia, the lines inside really irked me and gave me anxious itches. How can I remove that brown part with lines?
Not just for presentation, if you want to grow them yourself its smart to remove that outer layer so the plant thinks its healing itself when you plant it itll eventually make more mushrooms because its trying to regrow the part you removed by because you buried it it ends up just growing more mushrooms lol
All the restaurants I've worked in don't do this. Usually just use a moist paper towel and, for portobello we towel and either scoop out the fins or, one guy had us float them in water to release the dirt then dry.
@@FamilyCookingRecipes Slice/cut up the mushrooms and "bung" = throw in!..to what ever your cooking!..hehe!😁😊Love mushrooms😋. Used to go mushroom picking when I was a kid with me dad...So never worried about a little dirt on them when cooking.....And I have never in my life peeled them!...and I'm 55.

Correct. This is for those who don't like the stems and like to remove the outer layer. Both methods are fine.
Thanks. Got the answer. I was searching that can we eat the stem too..😅😅👍🙏

This is a white button mushroom. Yes, that part is edible. You can scrape it out if you want, but most people don't.

Hmm, maybe clean it out gently with a spoon? Maybe you could skip the mushrooms? Not sure.
@@FamilyCookingRecipes I tried cleaning with the spoon - worked. Thanks!
@@FamilyCookingRecipesdo we have to clean the gills before eating?
Just don't look at its butt
@@FamilyCookingRecipes I take a small or curved serrated knife to peel and clean. Will try the spoon.

Can we eat that black part? Because i don't know. I thought it's durt and cleaned it too
Yes, that part is edible.
I like doing mine this way as well. I don't eat them for the nutritional value, only the taste. They marinate better when I peel them.
Agree! 😃
Do we need to remove those gills too? ( I mean the fibres thing inside)
No, not on white button mushrooms. The entire mushrooms is edible. I just don't like the stem and like to peel the outer layer.
@@FamilyCookingRecipes what about on a crimini mushroom?
@@JOHNPT10 I haven't cooked with Crimini, so I can't say.
Wait your supposed to peel them?
I like to; it's the easiest way to clean it. Most people don't.
You don't have to.. it's literally safe to eat if you wash it with water properly.
The entire mushroom is edible.
Do we reallly need to peel the skin ..
No, you don't really have to.

I only clip the end of the stem, and I ate the rest after washing them.
That's good too!
That always good as there is not much waste
Its just for presentation.. but overall it is safe to eat all of that

Button Mushrooms are ok to eat uncooked. Any mushrooms from the grocery store are ok to eat uncooked.

I very sure that all restaurants are doing that. LOL.
I'm sure they don't. This is just something I prefer to do in my kitchen.

Wonder if you can use those remaining to grow? 🤔
You could definitely try! It's really personal preference. The stems are woody tasting to me so I do not use them.

No, these mushrooms have not been boiled.

Nice and easy! 😀
I just throw this blackish mushroom in dustbin thought they were spoiled 😅😅😅😅
I agree, better safe than sorry!
Who else thought it is so satifying?😂
Thanks!
Skin is strength and taste it will like spare parts after cooking taste just wash is enough
You like the taste? I've never liked the outside layer of mushroom, so I remove it.
Why though? Seems like a waste. Just lightly brush them with a damp kitchen towel and they're good to go.
I used to do that but I like to peel them now. It's much cleaner.
❤❤
I don't remove them
Most people don't 😁. But I like to.
Cool, but it's not a banana, why peel them😆
Personal preference. This is just how I like to prepare it.
