    Hey ... Guys ... The whole mushroom is edible ... Especially the skin contains valuable micronutrients ... The stem too is edible ... Just wipe it with a damp cloth or paper towel ...

      Correct. This is for those who don't like the stems and like to remove the outer layer. Both methods are fine.

    That black under the mushroom is ok to est r should scrape the under stem black ?!

      This is a white button mushroom. Yes, that part is edible. You can scrape it out if you want, but most people don't.

    This is my first time cooking a mushroom, I have trypophobia, the lines inside really irked me and gave me anxious itches. How can I remove that brown part with lines?

      Hmm, maybe clean it out gently with a spoon? Maybe you could skip the mushrooms? Not sure.

    I like doing mine this way as well. I don't eat them for the nutritional value, only the taste. They marinate better when I peel them.

      No, not on white button mushrooms. The entire mushrooms is edible. I just don't like the stem and like to peel the outer layer.

      I like to; it's the easiest way to clean it. Most people don't.

      You don't have to.. it's literally safe to eat if you wash it with water properly.

    I only clip the end of the stem, and I ate the rest after washing them.

      Not just for presentation, if you want to grow them yourself its smart to remove that outer layer so the plant thinks its healing itself when you plant it itll eventually make more mushrooms because its trying to regrow the part you removed by because you buried it it ends up just growing more mushrooms lol

      Button Mushrooms are ok to eat uncooked. Any mushrooms from the grocery store are ok to eat uncooked.

      I'm sure they don't. This is just something I prefer to do in my kitchen.

      All the restaurants I've worked in don't do this. Usually just use a moist paper towel and, for portobello we towel and either scoop out the fins or, one guy had us float them in water to release the dirt then dry.

      You could definitely try! It's really personal preference. The stems are woody tasting to me so I do not use them.

      I like to take off the dirty outer layer and this works for me. Do whatever you want in your kitchen.

      @@FamilyCookingRecipes Slice/cut up the mushrooms and "bung" = throw in!..to what ever your cooking!..hehe!😁😊Love mushrooms😋. Used to go mushroom picking when I was a kid with me dad...So never worried about a little dirt on them when cooking.....And I have never in my life peeled them!...and I'm 55.

    Mushrooms must never be peeled Infact its skin contains lots of vitamins
