Maybe step away from the politics and actually look at the big picture. The government isn't your friend. Left or right.

Thomas B, Well I guess I took the phrase differently. I saw it as saying that all people are the same in that we all have good and bad drives, and what we choose to follow is what makes us different, as do other things. We are not all the same under a microscope, we all have different drives and focuses, different ways of feeling emotions and dealing with things, but from afar we are not as different as some believe. That’s what I think anyway.

I've only had one encounter with a Russian person. I was in Vegas, and a very drunk young man came up to me asking "where New York was", in broken English, and sounding more than a little rude. I figured out he meant the hotel New York, New York, and gave him directions. The next day outside of the MGM, I was tapped on the shoulder...I tuned around and it was the same young man (this time not drunk), and he acted like I was his oldest friend in the world and he was happy to see me. I must have talked with him about 15 minutes before moving on, and it dawned on me the guy wasn't actually rude before, it was just a lack of language skills and maybe a bit of culture difference thrown in. He was actually a pretty cool person.

I have met many Russian tourists, a few of them the guests of their Russian-American relatives. They tend to be shy, overly friendly but sometimes not speaking any English. They are anxious to meet any Americans who are friendly to them, and helpful. This means, I have have good experiences with young, beautiful women who did not care about my age .... I am 78. As for Russian immigrants (legal residents or obtaining citizenship) they are less friendly because they like to retreat into their 'nostalgic Russian never never land' by clubbing up, only with one another. Especially the ones who are my age, who grew up under Khrushchev, Brezhnev and others. And so what? I do not need their friendship. The young people, born after 1980 are more interesting, having grown up with Yeltsin.

@gothicancientalien Russia is divided between Europe and Asia, correct. And it is true that most of Russia's surface area is in Asia (13. 12 million squared kilometres), (European Russia having 3.995 million squared kilometres)......
HOWEVER, that's where Asia having more ends. European Russia has over 75% of the population of Russia (112 million people) versus only 34 million in Asian Russia. The administrative and economic capitals of Russia are in European Russia, the 10 largest cities are in European Russia. The 3 largest ports are in European Russia. The vast majority of Russia's farmland is in Russia, most of Russia's roads and railways.. And airports are in European Russia. In fact, Russia (the country and empire) began in Europe (not Asia). Russian culture is European (not Asian). Russia was names by the vikings (it was called Rus). The first major settlements in Russia were created by the vikings and developed and improved by the slavic people (both European peoples). The only major cities in Asian Russia (called siberia btw) were founded and built by European Russians. The Russian national anthem was composed by a European Russian. The Russian flag was adopted from the Dutch National flag (a European country). The president of Russia is from European Russia (St. Petersburg). Russia borders more European countries than Asian countries (8 v 6). Russia is considered by the vast majority of the world to be a predominantly European and NOT Asian country.
So, you that is a Russian living in the US. Tell me how you "know more" about Russia because it appears to me that you know little to nothing about Russia, Russian economics, Russian culture, Russian history etc. Tell me how "I need to learn geography" when in reality I am an expert in geography. You in fact need to learn geography and also a lot more as well. It's shameful how little you know about Russia, a country you allegedly descend from. As far as I can see, you're merely an American attempting to 'stay in touch' with other cultures. Oh and btw, I have been to Russia more than once so don't come at me with any visiting nonsense.
(edit) don't take what i say too harshly, use it and learn it to improve your knowledge of Russia and not make the same mistake again.

I've met a few Russians when I was in high school, and they were really cool friends that I've met. I've been interested in wanting to go visit Russia one day, the culture, language, history, the people, and nature is so intriguing to learn, the experience, and hoping to make new friends along the way. :)
I basically love almost all types of biome ecosystems, and the people who inhabits within those areas, especially the ones who lives within extreme cold/hot areas of the world. I'd like to visit Yakutsk one day because it's the coldest city in the world that I know of, or Norberisk or Omaykon cities (I'm sorry if I've spelled those cities incorrectly). Even as an American (USA), I really don't watch the news other than like the weather and try to not watch the news as the western media portrays Russia and makes us wanting to hate each other, but really it's about the politics between the 2 or so countries. But that doesn't change anything about me still wanting to learn the Russian language, and one day visit Russia. :)

But from what I hear the people in your vids saying, it looks like you are much more similar to us. At least the people in Yekaterinburg, maybe Moscovites are different. I was teaching myself Russian when I was younger and I think I am going to revisit it, I already understand the majority of words and the grammar is almost the same as Slovak. The one piece of advice I would give to any Russians thinking of visiting the United States is to find a state with only one big city and visit a mid sized city or town. You will get a much better idea of what the average American looks like, believes, and how they live. L.A, San Francisco, or New York may as well be different countries because of how radically different they are from the average American. Like with most of the world, the lens through which Russians perceive America is largely a product of Hollywood and entirely unrepresentative of the average Joe.

Super Saiyan God: don’t even know what to say that. I’ve spent a lot of time in both. I never felt at all unsafe in LA, NY, San Fran or even in downtown Detroit which is 20 minutes from my house...some of the neighborhoods of Detroit I’d avoid. My longtime hobby is motocross which has me in the country a lot. I live in the suburbs and spent some years living in the middle of Missouri. And some other years leaving near Monterey, CA. At none of those did I feel like I was in a different country or unsafe. And all of the big cities you can take a short drive and basically be out in the country or in mid-size cities.
I feel like you haven’t been around a lot and are buying in to your own stereotypes...but who knows maybe you just have different experiences and you were mugged or something. I spent 6 months in Egypt, a few weeks in Korea, a few weeks in Panama, a few weeks in Puerto Rico, a little time in Mexico...now those feel like different countries. And some time in Israel and of course Canada but those both feel like you’re still in the United States (except some of the old architecture in Israel).

@@pashedmota8oes756 You're kidding right? Got to hand it to the media. They hide so much to the average uniformed viewer or voter. You must make it into the 1000's who are in the dark about Obama and of what many of us think as common knowledge. Yes, Obama is well known for his division among black and white Americans. His racist comment that violent Trayvon could have been his son, while tensions were already so high. With the 100's of white Americans killed by blacks, imagine GW Bush picking out a white young man and saying that the white person killed by a black could have been his son. Obama sat in the Racist church of Jeremiah Wright for over 20 years and then denied that he heard any of the Hate speech by Wright. Obama in the early 2000's had his picture taken with Racist Louis Farrakhan. Have you heard of either of those two? When a black friend of Obama's named Gates had locked himself out of his house and was trying to gain entrance through a window, a neighbor saw it and called the cops. Gates in typical fashion gave the cops a hard time and refused to cooperate. He was initially arrested and Obama stated publicly that the white cops acted stupidly. He backtracked later on those commenst, once he knew the whole story. At a college graduation speech, instead of Obama telling the young graduates to work hard and good luck, instead he went on a rant the black graduates with black sounding names are not called for job interviews and that black males get a much longer sentence than white males for the same crime. Both are racial lies as there are 100's of 1000's of black employed everywhere with black sounding names. And black males got longer sentences, because the length of sentences are given as to how long your criminal record is. On average young black males have a much longer criminal record than do white males at the same age. They start at a much younger age committing felonies. Obama before he was elected said that he will have a hard time getting elected, because most people won't vote for him, that don't look like him. Obama received over 55% of the white vote in 2008. A needless and hurtful racist comment about white American voters. In contrast black voters voted for him nearly solely on his race...about 97%. Why didn't he ever talk about that?

His remarks are a breath of fresh air in a world that loves to assume hate and to highlight differences. He, and many others in this video, serve as proof that good, easy going, and open-minded people exist everywhere and should be celebrated as individuals instead of automatically linking them to the geo-political waltz conducted by their country's government. Have any of you guys noticed how many family's and kids there seems to be in these videos, just everywhere, happy in public. Just saying. Its feels like your a burden on society having kids in London , I have have two young children, people hate family's at restaurants and public places, you get so many dirty irritated looks. Sure there are lots of nice People too, but definitely more ngeativity than positivity.
In England, young family's are typically frowned upon because they are accociated with teen pregnancy and delinquency and stuff like that. Men and Women want to go out and party untill they are 35-40 and women don't want to Breast feed or have kids because they want to preserve there "figure". England has becom so obsessed with "ethics" woman's/gay/racial, whatever, but we seem to have forgotten or lost sight some of the basics. All I hear in england about Russia is negativity, along with Muslims and China, I'm now being told Russia wants to destroy my civilization as well...I'm not so sure. In many regards, the veiws and traditions of China and other places seem more logical than our own in Europe, it's weird, with all our sophistication and progressiv'ness we are regresing in many other areas. Anyways, what a bloody rant that was, back to my point, many of the families with kids I've see on your walkabouts and city's overviews seem young as a family man my self, I notice this and it suprises me. ofcourse I'm sure I'm generalising, but it seems as though young families are encouraged ? And normal? Am I on to something? Oh and nice video!

What a wonderful comment. they say New York is the worst place to raise a family. And I think London is not that much different. I think it has to do with the size and the density of the city. Same things are happening in Russia women start having kids at a later age. They want to get some education and build some sort of career first. Most families have one or two kids. The original population is on the decline. The only reason it is not declining according to the stats is because we have a lot of migrant workers coming over from the former USSR republics. I've never felt like families with kids are frowned upon. Well maybe they are in high-end restaurants. But that's not the right place to come with kids anyway. Okay hope this clear things up a little for you. Thanks for watching the video
