- Russian President Vladimir Putin made a surprise appearance for Mass at the Church of Ss. Simeon and Anna in St. Petersburg, causing a sensation, especially for a couple of boys standing in front.
The Russian Orthodox Church observes Christmas on January 7, as it follows the Julian calendar, like several other Orthodox denominations.

For young western kids, this reaction is normally reserved for meeting their favourite sports star, like Cristiano Ronaldo. To see kids react like this to the leader of their country says a lot about the leadership he must be providing. No leader is perfect of course, but those kids are looking up to him. And that is something that especially males NEED. They need male role models. Something to look towards. So many western men/boys just dont even care. If Joe Biden walked in the room right now, I dont think many kids are going to get excited.

Those kids meet their hero and they are happy, what is so wrong about that? Just leave people alone to enjoy what they want. Incredible how people are criticizing a church service. We should all be happy they can worship freely in Russia. What a beautiful service. Don’t buy all that the media says.
