This video is a MUST SEE for anyone who is considering on buying a quad lock system. When I first read about the vibration dampener i thought "This is just for the people who do off-road and that stuff" untill I read that the optical system of your phone may get damaged from the vibration of the motorbike. I think this is something that not so many people know about and it's quite important to take care of it.
Thank you! I love using the RAM mount & wasn’t sure how the vibration dampener fit with the ball adapter. Your video instructions were very clear and helpful…much appreciated
Tuned it to find out what mount you used since the quad lock handlebar mount doesn’t work on the DRZ with stock bars and you glossed right over that part!!!
I was also concerned about not having a fuse, but this I found on their website”The USB charger has an inbuilt self-healing Polyfuse and Surge Protection. It also has Polarity Protection which prevents damage to the charger if wired up incorrectly.”
Definitely getting a Quad Lock soon... my old iPhone's camera died and I didn't know why until I found out that my Rokform didn't have any vibration dampening
For everyone wondering if the universal mount works with the wireless charger, yes and no. If you have a case like a ghostek nautical case that makes the phone completely waterproof or any case like it that has a thin back of the case then it will work. Done it many times. It if the back of the case is thick like an otterbox then it probably won’t.
I know video is a year old but I haven’t heard Pokémon go in years lol thx for the video i ordered mine last week after i saw this video I can’t wait to install it on my bike ! Is getting delivered tomorrow
Do you have a video on how to install the charger “properly” to switch power and all that? I just got a KTM rc390 and have been looking into the quad lock setup with the charger.
When i try to put vibration dampener and screw the last part on, all the rubbers from vibration dampener come out, i put them back in but something continues to push them out and idk how to fix it 😭
I've had the Quad Lock system for a few years on my 2012 Goldwing. I bought the wired charger with it (this was before they came out with the wireless charger). For the first week it was great, but then it couldn't seem to keep up for some reason. I reached out to Quad Lock, and they sent me a replacement. Unfortunately the replacement didn't fair much better. For the first few weeks it charged my phone just fine, but then for some reason it couldn't keep up, even with my screen turned off. Hopefully yours faired better. I just replaced the charger out with the wireless charger last weekend. Other than a quick test to make sure it worked, I haven't had a chance to take it out on the road yet. Hopefully it fairs better than the wired version for me.
I love the concept of the quad lock. I just don't like that it is tied to a specific case for specific phones. I wish they had a universal attachment that I could just stick on any phone. I'm an avid off roader (currently on a YZ250F) and looking for a good mount for a Phone based GPS.
I feel totally dumb as I’m having the hardest time taking it off the wireless charger. What’s the trick?… on the other ones it’s a tab. Easy. But on the wireless there’s no tab and I always end up having to do some finger origami with both hands to finally get it off.
I just ordered a Quad Lock set up and waiting for it to arrive. What I don't get at all is the charging wire set up. If you have a charging unit already on the bike, you can simply run the wire up to the phone when mounted. Why plug a wire to the phone mount when you can just run it to your phone? Pretty weird lol
Saves time + is weatherproof...although if it's raining I don't usually have my phone on the bars anyway. Passive vs active charging, I guess. It's super convenient but not necessary, for sure.
I’ve had to replace my iPhone 12 twice within two months because of the vibrations, so while I am mildly desperate to find a solution as I love being able to easily see my phone for navigation, I’m also super paranoid now.
This is a big reason I returned the RokForm kit I had purchased before ever using it. That said, I've been using the QuadLock system for a few months now, and zero issues with my 12 Pro Max.
The dampener will help if you have a good suspension, on my Goldwing and Supertenere I have no problems but my son and I have ruin our cameras on our Gsxs1000 and 750, because of the sportier ride, 2 of my sons friends have screwed up the stabilizer on their phones on a ninja 650 and mt09 so on sport bikes on our shitty roads in Quebec it does not protect the phone enough, smooth riding bikes should be fine
So you used the USB power module, instead of the weatherproof wireless charger ? That's prob my problem on my Tiger Rally Pro......that and the too thin or too thick handlebars having all kinds of issues mounting my quadlock/antivibration/weatherproof wirelss. Perhaps I just need that USB power one like you're using.....
My S21 is supposedly waterproof too but I've had enough trouble with wet charging ports on phones in the past so I don't mess around with water where I can avoid it
It went together easily in less than an hour. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.
I like the concept and ordered the case and RAM mount! We tried the wired charger like you have on the Grom and the charger died shortly after. Interested to hear how it works for you before I spend a bunch on the wireless charger and vibration dampener.

Whatever happened to planning and knowing ahead of time where you were going before leaving to drive somewhere? Geez. What happened to doing anything without a phone? Can't wait for the toilet mount to launch. That way I can watch Game of Thrones whilst on my bathroom throne downloading some "defecatory data." Or the new silverware app so I can eat with my phone. Turn off the phone. Enjoy the ride and the view it provides. Got 32 cents of my 2 cents worth. I feel better now.

I’m never tried any quad lock.
I want the wireless setup for my ATV. Think the ball mount with RAM Mount is the best handlebar setup?
Am I missing something? If you have the usb port so close, couldn’t you just charge your phone from there instead of buying the quad lock charger?
PokemonGo & Quad-lock
very cool lol
thanks for the vid
great job !!

My S21 is supposedly waterproof too but I've had enough trouble with wet charging ports on phones in the past so I don't mess around with water where I can avoid it
Fair enough. The old tough phones were truly waterproof. There's some still but you need a trailer to haul them around.
Question
Can I run a dampener with a hard wired phone wireless charging system?
Did it ever kill the groom? Or is it safe to keep it on 24/7?

Quad Lock RULZ!
Awesome vid bud
I literally order that exact kit an hour ago lol
What 12v usb charger setup are you using on the drz for this quadlock?
Great video! Any updates on how well the dampener is performing to prevent damage to your phone?
So far, so good.
so it’s been 2 months… how’s your camera now?
My ball mount and the dampener is not sturdy i can even rotate the phone 360 degrees, why?
Carry on my wayward
Have you ever charged you phone when is was low with the charging setup? And if, then how long does it take to fully charge the phone?
Can you fit the small dual pivot on to the flat 4 hole rectangle and how?
Keyword is super fast charging?
Is there two ways to charge phone on the mount?
Isn't there a power button on the wired version?
How'd you get a black mount? I've only seen the Blue.
They sell different color replacement tabs on their website

I hope to test them extensively
just my luck... i installed one the other day without the vibration dampener and killed the camera on my phone.... i didnt read the fine print!
Yeah I hear that's a common issue
My camera is also dead.,..
what kind of bikes / motors are killing the cameras? My DRZ SHHHHHHAKES, while my BMW is pretty smooth. Sucks to hear.
Try it Harley davidson fatboy, still my new iphone camera was damage
What size Ram Mount double socket arm are you using large or medium for your drz400s?
Might be a stupid question, but can the quadlock hold the phone in landscape position? I only ever see it in portrait orientation
Yes. You just put it in sideways.
That not true about rain poncho. It's gets water behind. I already damage one phone. Just put it in your pocket if it's raining
How bad was the vibration on the Versys 650?
Hi, you did it in wrong way. The dsmpener should be installed as close to the phone as possible.
How is the wireless charging supposed to work through the dampener?
@@bdawson21 Wireless charging should go on top of the dampener but the USB charger should be beneath the dampener. I think that is what he meant.

No. I've got this plugged into the 12v port with a USB adapter.
@@DorkintheRoad Thanks !
May I ask where is the power source for charging your phone? From the bike Battery or from where? I totally no idea
I ran a cable to the battery. You can see it in this video.
Can you have the phone horizontally??
Yes
Pretty nifty not having to connect the phone to a cable.
Hey quick question do I need to plug it in the bike or can I just charge it at home and turn it on when I need it and go ?
It needs to be plugged in
So I'm just trying to wrap my head around why a wireless charger we need to be plugged into the phone, it seems kind of ridiculous and quite defective
It doesn't. He showed two separate products, a USB and a wireless charger.
Yup. Two different products in this video. The wireless charger is working flawlessly for me so far.
OK how the h*** can you have a waterproof plug plug not hardwired. Please answer me how water stays out of the plug why the h*** didn't they hardwire it
did the grom battery end up getting drained?
Nothing too noticeable.
My charge head just died last week out of nowhere.
Dang, that sucks. Still under warranty?
