They most definitely work. I have several. I switch out the hooks to circle hooks though. In my experiences, they hook up better on trots than J style hooks and they keep more fish on. I put trotlines in the Osage River about a 1/2 mile from the confluence of the Missouri. I’ve never trusted most pre-made lines, I just make up my own.
Sorry they are crap. The hooks break at the eyes when you get a fish over 3-4 lbs. Buy some parachute cord for a main line some braided kevlar for your droppers some decent barrel swivels some 6/0 octupus hooks and save yourself the headaches and heartbreaks this cheap "all in one package" will cause you.

I failed to mention I tie this way because its so much easier to switch out hooks and drops.
