How to make your own catfish trotline the right way!

In this video I show you step by step how I built my catfish trotline. This trotline was made strong enough for the big blues in Southeast Virginia. I will share exaclty what I use and how to put it together. Go make one and get out on the river and catch some cats!!
What you'll need:
A barrel at least 20 gallons in size
8-10 feet- 5/32 P-Cord
Crab pot float
250 feet Franklin Braid #8 Crab pot rope
Circle hooks of your choice
4" stainless steel long line snaps with swivel
55 Yards of 60-100 lb mono leader (size depends on how big catfish are in your area)

Thousand times easier using wooden box made out of 2 * 4 just like the old timers did and then you can stack them on top of each other instead of having these big ass blue buckets

Thanks for sharing. For me it really depends on the size of the fish you intend to catch and the length of your line. We have lines over a thousand feet and catch blues pushing 100# in our area. So we use heavier lines than a lot of places.
