Here's a new way to store your trotline! NO TANGLES! Most people are using the hook-in-slit method on bucket rims, which still leaves the clip end loose to tangle. I came up with a system that keeps each drop-line separated. NO MORE TANGLES ON EITHER END! Cheap and Easy to make, and EZ to clean! Hope this comes in handy for you as well. Strong emphasis on 7 gallon bucket. I used a 5 gallon as that’s what I had. A bit tight. I did cut the PVC down to 13”. It’s awesome. Thanks
Yeah, the taller the bucket the better it is for sure
The second I saw this I went outside and cut up enough pvc, before I even watched the video. Great idea thanks for sharing!
Glad you like my idea! I can't wait to get out on the river. We've had some pretty bad flooding recently. A lot of junk floating down, and random freezing temps. Summer can't get here fast enough!
Awesome idea! I’m going to keep this in mind! Thanks for sharing!
glad you like it! Thanks for the positive feedback!
Very clever build. I enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing.
Captain.
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment, my friend!
Excellent solution, Cap'n Belly!
glad you like my idea, David!!! Thanks for taking the time to comment!
Are you kidding me? This is an insanely good idea. If you only knew how many times I have wanted to throw all of my stagings in the lake and go home because they were all tied in a knot.
THANKS! I got the idea from my golf bag. you know.... the tubes that hold the clubs. I can tell you that this idea is going to make your life a lot easier! Hope you like my other videos.
Here's another idea I came up with almost 10 years ago.

Good idea! This would make a nice Instructable.
I bet it would, Tim. Thanks for the good words!
Very clever. I’m going to giver a try.
Thanks,
Captain
Let me know how it worked out, my friend!
Works great - I have 2 hooks in my tubes for a 50 hook Texas line
nice! glad you like my idea, CJ!
I like this. I can use this idea for my sailline. It's just a troutline with a sail on the end and a reel on the other end
perfect idea, Christopher! Let me know how it works out!
Thanks for the useful idea. nice one
You're welcome, Noor. I can't wait for the weather to get nice so I can get back out there on the river. probably a couple more months where I live.
Appreciate it been trying to find better ways to set up without the headaches lol now I got a good idea for when the weather warms back up
Ya! I can't wait to get out there. Drove by the river yesterday, and all I saw were ice chunks floating by. It got my fishing-fever up though.
Phil Crockett I don’t have that problem lol I live in Texas lol 😂 can’t relate at all bud
I rigged up something similar in my jug line bucket. I hot glued halfa swim noodle to the inside edge to hook my stagings into. Work like a charm. Kudos Sir. 2:47
There's more than one way to skin a cat
Very good improvement over what I have been using( the beginning bucket with loose rigs). I will construct your plan. Will try to find a 6 gal. Bucket. Looks like yours would be a baseball bucket. I have about 50 hook sets, so I will add an inner ring of 16 inch pvc pipes. I don’t need space for a weight. 👍
Ts
Yes.... I believe that is a baseball bucket. I just recently re-organized my bucket for the coming season. I can't wait to get out there, but the flooding needs to stop. Glad you like my idea. It's definitely one of my better and most useful thoughts. Thanks for the comment, Gregory. Let me know how it all works out for you.
Genius! Led me to some of your other videos. I wish you were my neighbor.
You don't need to be my neighbor if you watch my videos...... Hopefully you can follow along easily! Lol!
Excellent
Glad you like it! I can't wait to get back out there!
man i like this!
Hi Phil and hope all your kitty fish haven't drowned! Rain, rain and more rain BUT we're not burning down!
Ya. I've been watching the river go up every day. Last night there were a lot of logs / trees floating down. It's kind of soothing watching the logs float by, but I sure wouldn't want to be out there dodging them.
When all that starts I make it a point to stay home. Usually there is a washout or road flooded which I can get around but I'm not as adventuresome (goofy) as I used to be. I pick my times now! Stack the deck in my favor a little. Remain calm!
Great idea. Only problem the floating beads are an obstacle.
floating beads?
Very nice
Thanks, David!
You sir are a genius! May i ask, do you tie your trotline to 2 fixed points up high and weigh down the center?
yes!
Very time consuming but fantastic idea. How much does all the materials cost?
HA! well.....I guess it depends on your definition of 'time consuming'. I think watching TV would be time consuming. I do stuff like this instead. . I made this in 1 evening, and will hopefully have it for years to come. As far as cost.... i didn't really add it up because it was so cheap. The whole organizer was under $10..... that includes the glue sticks. The 6 gallon bucket would be the most expensive part. however, you could make one from a 5 gallon a little cheaper but might as well make it better with the taller 6 gal. in fact..... you don't really even need a bucket. I've been thinking about getting a small truck box and doing this. That way, I could haul ALL my crap in one tote and be able to shut a lid and lock it. I will probably do that at some point.
Cute idea but I can put up to 100 hooks on one line in my state.may need to modify this to work
just add more PVC around the inside. EZ! Just went out on the river this morning. Used my organizer and I'm loving life. I should have come up with this idea years ago.
try a strip or three of flexible magnetic tool rail
One step further, cut the pipes that will be facing downward at a very slight angle. Then drill a few hole in the bottom for drainage.
Sounds good to me.
❤❤❤❤❤
So glad you like my video, my friend!
I am wondering how it has held up for you? I tried this first with a glue gun and it's not sticking well. Then I tried it with gorilla glue still didn't stick well.
That's strange yours is not sticking. Mine has been put through the mill, and it's still going strong. I wonder if you should use the high temp glue sticks. Might want to look in to that. I truly don't know why it's not working for you. Others folks have had good luck with this. Let me know if you figure it out.
@@PhilCrockett Well, I haven't even been able to use it or even finish assembling it. Literally it would just fall apart as I would be taking it out to with the new pipe in and such. I guess it's because the pipe that I use is old. I will buy a new pipe and get back with you. Thanks! By the way I was using gorilla glue glue sticks.
That really is a mystery to me. Maybe sand some scratches in to the new pipe using 60 grit sand paper. Might help.
hey man. well i bought new pvc and it worked? i think the old pvc was just weathered to much being out side for over 10 years in the hot texas sun. 🤷♂️ but it worked. thanks man!
good to know that you're up and running now. Ive been doing a lot of rod and reel fishing this year. Haven't set any lines yet, but hopefully soon.
Bucket tips over....?
haven't had that issue. In fact, this is possibly the best idea I've ever had. I love this set up..... wish I would have done this years ago
There is no clips like yours her in Philippines

how many pcp pip would you need
Not sure what you mean by PCP pip?
He meant PVC pipe @@PhilCrockett
oh! the amount of pipe depends on the individual bucket, but the number in this video is a good start for sure.
Nice. I'm not even into fishing.
thanks for watching. I hope that someday you do fish. ...... it;s a wonderful way to become one with nature, and relax.
@@PhilCrockett I never understood the relaxing part of fishing when I was young...now that I'm 36, I am warming up to the relaxing part of fishing 😀
ya. My wife and I simply turn the boat motor off, put the baited fishing poles in the rod holders and float the river. I don't even care if I catch anything. kick back and listen to music with your shirt and shoes off. It's great.
@@PhilCrockett Good point, but I don't care much for fish because it tastes...fishy...
Unless it's slathered in butter. Then it tastes divine 😋
Why not go ahead and hook up your entire trot line and then put it in the bucket. Connect your line weight for one end of the trot line and put it in the bottom of the bucket. Start putting any main line into the bottom of the bucket. When you come to the first drop line and hook, put the drop line down your first pipe with the hook hung on the top. (as you show) Only with your trot line all connected you will have a line going in and a line coming out of the pipe. The main line in between the drops will be put in the bottom of the bucket. So forth and so on...........
Everett, that is truly a great idea, however, I fish a VERY large river (MO-River)... it's always moving at the average speed of 7 miles per hour. It's hard to explain unless you've done it, but the uncontrolled variables are high out there. I need to do one thing at a time in a slower, thought out process on the river. Now... that being said.... if I were to fish a lake, where I wasn't fighting fast current, then THAT would be a great idea! THanks for watching and commenting! You have a great mind, my friend!
