@@learning_the_outdoorsMaking them memories for that kiddo for sure. Awesome! Love catching those big ones myself, I'll weigh them and put them back but keep filleting fish like you did. Big ones are your breeders.
There are two things I greatly appreciate about this video. The first is that you are with your son and you two are fishing. There is a high likelihood he will always remember the day that big one go away. He may just share that story with his son. And his grandson. At 66 years old, I can tell you for a fact that getting older happens in a blur. Take advantage of every moment, like this river adventure. The second thing is the lesson you are teaching about giving away fish and making others happy. You son is extremely fortunate to have a dad who took him to the river who and is instilling an extremely important value. Keep doing what you are doing, my friend. And don't blink. He will be graduating from HS before you know it.
Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm already feeling like they grow too fast. I hope that you are correct and he does remember these trips. I know I will!
Fishing with my stepson in 2003 when I catch about a four pound rainbow in Montana. Young fell asked if he could fight the trout , held on to the fly rod for a bit then the leader parted . Many years later I asked if he remembered that big fish . Nope 😢😢
Both of my kids are in their 20s, and both remind me of trips we've taken throughout the years at random times. Your comment is %100 spot on. Awesome memories. 😊
My son is 30 now. My dad started carrying me hunting with him when I was 4. I was barely big enough to hold the .410 shotgun. But we loved the outdoors. My dad taught me the importance of nature and how to respect it and love it and be thankful for each bounty harvested. I said my son is 30. We still spend every minute we can in the woods, especially during hunting season. I'm thankful for all the memories I have with my dad and so thank for the ones I have and keep making with my 30 year old kiddo. Awesome job with your son. His excitement brought back many memories.
You are bringing that young man up to be a good person. What a blessing for both of y’all. He will always remember you and him fishing together. Lots of great memories ❤
I have 2 daughters. Both in their 30’s now. Plz don’t get me wrong. I love them dearly. But watching this video of this dad fishing with his young son brought tears to my eyes. What a special bond between a father and son. Dad will never forget moments like this and son will share these moments with his children.
Love to hear the enthusiasm in a child’s voice when it comes to fishing .My grandson use to chatter like that .He’s a young man now and although he still enjoys a day on the water ,I sometimes miss the little guy he use to be . My best advice is to remember these days with him cause before you know it he won’t be little anymore . God Bless

Love your video. I bought a boat like yours been fishing the river not far from my home having a lot of fun with my family. Good luck this season and be safe
In my 50s now, I wish I could be as excited for 5 seconds per day as the little guy was the whole time. Life can sure suck the joy out of things if we let it. Fun vid! Sucks he got off. Would have loved to have seen that explosion of spontaneous joy.
Love how fired up your son is jug fishing, good times. Made me laugh while I was stuck at work...."maybe us" lol love it! oh and defiantly a giant cat, have to go back after that one!
Those are my favorite types of jugs. Put a piece of rebar in there so when they take the hook, they bob up and down making it easy to know you have a fish on. When you get a big one on, leave him on a while to tire itself out. It probably straightened the hook when your boy tried to yank it up. It happens...
my dad used to tell me when I was that age, "son, when you were born, they vaccinated you with a Stereo Needle"... I love listening to that little guy... non-stop and in stereo... It's so fun when they are that excited... way to get them hooked on fishing.

I live near Columbus, ms and the tombigbee. It reminded me of sights on the tom. That's why I asked. Thanks again.
@michaelward5670 I have fished the Tenn-Tom many times out of Columbus. Nice to meet you sir.
In my 50s now, I wish I could be as excited for 5 seconds per day as the little guy was the whole time. Life can sure suck the joy out of things if we let it. Fun vid! Sucks he got off. Would have loved to have seen that explosion of spontaneous joy.
I heard that. Thank you for the comment.
Love how fired up your son is jug fishing, good times. Made me laugh while I was stuck at work...."maybe us" lol love it! oh and defiantly a giant cat, have to go back after that one!
Thank you very much. That fish is a legend in our house now 🤣 so we're definitely after him!
The best part of this vid is the enthusiasm of the youngster.
Thank you very much.
Those are my favorite types of jugs. Put a piece of rebar in there so when they take the hook, they bob up and down making it easy to know you have a fish on. When you get a big one on, leave him on a while to tire itself out. It probably straightened the hook when your boy tried to yank it up. It happens...
I like that idea. Thank you sir!
my dad used to tell me when I was that age, "son, when you were born, they vaccinated you with a Stereo Needle"... I love listening to that little guy... non-stop and in stereo... It's so fun when they are that excited... way to get them hooked on fishing.
Lol, that is hilarious! Thank you for sharing!
funny , funny stuff little man wanted no part of that gar
I know that's right!
What a great video... in 20yrs... you'll love it even more.
Thank you very much and I bet you are right!
@@learning_the_outdoors That's a very safe bet!!! .. my daughter caught her first 6lb channel when she was 5yrs old on a little boat at 2am one morning(I never got a bite that night)... biggest smile I've ever seen. ... that was 20yrs ago! lots of great memories.... lots of pictures.

Great patience with your son and good fishing. I would like to see you go after big flatheads!!!
Thank you. I've been thinking about doing just that with some live bream!
5:50 was so funny. Great video.

You are a great dad and your son sharp and quick 😅

Great see young boy out learning how to do stuff that makes them independent and outside.
Some people don't realize the lessons being learned here. Thank you for recognizing and commenting!
@@learning_the_outdoors my family still does it up on the TENNESSEE RIVER . That how I was raised and all the boy an the girls who wanted to go. That’s how we keep the way of life so many of us fought and died for. So little once came do just that.
