  • Hey guys! In this video, I share what low porosity natural hair looks like. I have done many informational videos on specific subjects on low porosity hair but I have never dedicated a video to just simply show what it looks like to give a simple visual. Please see the video below from another UA-camr who I was inspired to do a video similar to hers because I really loved the idea and feel like sharing it with you all may be helpful!

    Sometimes I think that hair porosity is much more important that hair typing. You can have the same type as someone, but if you don't have the same porosity their products will not work for you. This was such a good video.

      My sister and I have almost exactly the same curl type but she's low porosity and I'm high. Which makes our haircare techniques very different. When you know porosity, you'll know how often to use heat, how to properly seal or open your cuticle, when you should use a protein treatment and that's just the health of your hair we haven't even talked about styling products.

      My hair dries so rapidly when I get out of the shower this last time I didn't even t-shirtl blot it. I just sectioned it off and put a plastic shower cap over it to keep it moist & I took my "bantu knots" down section by and then started twisting my hair with product in it. It turned
      out pretty good though.

    Some things that have changed my fine/low porosity hair: 1. Spending time rinsing before shampooing. Helps loosen any dirt and product on scalp and hair. Also drenches my hair so it’s easier to get to my scalp with shampoo. Shampoo can get right to work. 2. I stopped using all creams (moisturizing shampoo, leave-in, styler etc.) they always lead to build up for me. I use products with water like teas, acv, aloe water etc. 3. I went back to grease. I’ve noticed that type 4 hair thrives with heavy fats. I used Shea butter but I found that to get the consistency that my hair liked I would have to mix it with a lot of heavier oils. In the end it looked like grease but a lot more expensive.

    • @IydaMichael
      @IydaMichael  4 роки тому +30

      Thank you for sharing! My hair really hates anything too heavy but ut did like the shea butter mixture when I added oils but I could only use a very small amount or I would get buildup. I've heard some other people with low porosity hair love using grease too! I guess there are many different levels to low porosity hair! :)

    You have helped me SO much. My daughter just turned 5 and her hair is VERYYYYYY much like yours. I wish I could post her photo for you to see. I’ve been studying for the past couple years, trying to figure out which products and approaches work best for her and I feel like I’ve finally found someone who I can follow who has the same hair type or texture. She doesn’t look forward to wash day as her hair so easily tangles all up. I have also watched the product reviews you have posted. Thank you so much!

    Today on 8/4/24, was the very first time at almost 30 (which I should’ve been doing this kind of research about four or five years ago) that I’ve FINALLY decided to open up in depth to understand my kind of hair and what hair porosity levels, etc. that is fully needed for myself (which this is also me dating me to take better care of me. Haha).
    I’ve come to find out a few things. My hair texture a mix of loose and tight coils (curly), and yet my hair is 3B-4A. My hair porosity level is: Low porosity!
    So because of finally having clarity about my hair type, I had to start watching hair videos only about, low porosity and the first video that came up….was YOURS! Your hair is very beautiful and wonderfully made By the hands and grace of God, and I just wanted to THANK YOU 💕💕💕💋🥰for this video. What kinds of products do you personally use for your kind of hair?? You’re very beautiful inside and out!💕💕💕💕💕
    XOXOX, - Pastiche (A friend with low porosity hair) 🥰💕💜

    I'm amazed at women who can wash their hair and then when their hair is dry and flat ironed..their hair is like 2 or three times as long as it looks when it's not flat ironed! I barely have any shrinkage my hair is pretty much, what you see is what you get, when it comes to length. My granddaughter has beautiful hair too and she also has some shrinkage, when I pull on her twist gently her hair stretches some!

      Same here. For the strand test in the cup, you have to push the hair past the surface of the water first. Then you will get an accurate result
