Iyda I just wanted to add that after nearly 8 years of struggling with my natural hair, and going to the barbers for the greater part of that time and shaving it off due to sheer dryness and it looking a mess, thanks to positive people like you I’ve recently made some changes that have turned out to be real game changers for me. So if it’s gonna help anyone out there here goes: 1) diluting my Deep conditioners with water, adding agave nectar, warming it up, and applying this mix to my hair, and then going under a hooded dryer for 30mins with a plastic cap. OH MY GOODNESS ME!! No wonder DC’s never did anything for me before! The molecules were too big. And now for the first time my hair is perpetually soft. 😍 2) making a herbal tea letting it cool a bit, adding my (yes I’m gonna say it 😂) sulphate shampoo - Giovanni 50/50, and washing my hair with it. Hair is clean, not stripped and lovely and soft. A new thing for me. 3) ok, so I’ve tried for years applying leave-ins on damp, wet, and dry hair, also spritzing with warm water first, and my hair just says “NO! NO! NO!” and when dry feels compacted like it’s got a foreign body in it. MY HAIR LOVES WATER!! Good ole H2O. So I just add glycerine and a smidgin of apple cider vinegar (hair can’t bear aloe juice) slightly warmed and apply that to my hair as my leave-in. 🙏🏽 You have NO idea what difference this has made to my hair. I use this as my L= liquid/leave in as part of the LOC method. And then FINALLY thanks to you 4) Wetline Extreme Gel. 😂 I almost gave up on gel. I’ve tried so many, and most of them are not thick enough for my hair. KCCC was the best of the lot, but waaay too light for my strands. BUT THIS girlfriend is my Gel for life!!! I don’t need to try anymore. It pairs very well with my creams (SM DT Masque, and Curl enhancing smoothie, and goes on so smoothly and leaves my hair SOFT. I’m amazed!! I think I’ve tried all of the Ecostyler range and my hair just wasn’t having it. Not sure if it’s the protein or what. So although this message is long, I REALLY hope it can help somebody, coz the struggle is REAL Y’all! But when you FINALLY find what works it’s a great day. 😆 My hair is just shooting out now, and more importantly is SOFT and shiny. So thank you so very much for being such a positive inspiration. 😘

My hair has always been so dry, I thought glycerin was the only humectant that could penetrate and moisturize my hair. Through trial and error I've discovered my hair loves agave nectar and marshmallow root as humectants. Doing wash-n-gos and using Kinky Curly Custard has been a game changer! This video was chock full of great information!👌

You’ve been sooo helpful! I think I am low porosity but because I have extremely thin hair with a full density it was hard to diagnose! Everyone always said I had thick hair but I think they were looking at my hair as a whole and not my actual strands! My hair doesn’t mind coconut oil but when I deep condition the conditioner always seem to never really give me the feeling that others felt. I think my hair does it get wet when I spray water but not right away due to the fact that my hair is thinner. I do have to wait all night for a twist out and I refuse to try a perm rod set because I’m worried it will need 2 days to dry. I’m definitely going to try some of the products you mentioned here in this video as well as others and let you know how everything worked out and if I really have low porosity hair!! Thank you soo much for the information!! ❤️❤️❤️

I truly needed this video. I started going natural in 2017 and by mistake I watched a lot of high porosity naturals without knowing and even their some of their products worked okay, I could never get the definition. I finally discovered I'm low porosity, coarse and maybe 4b? But the ingredients list were so helpful and I understand now why some old products I used to use when washing - I would shampoo then use a cond and didn't realize they both had protein and my hair got hard instantly and didn't think anything of it. Second, learning how to moisturize daily was hard for me to learn, yours was the best so far as you went into detail in another video about daily moisturizing and emphasizing warm water. I used to spray cool water in the mornings and leave-in in the evening before bed but all the product wiped off on my silk pillow case - so when you explained you mix a little oil with leave-in and warm water, those specific details made things a lot clearer. Now I'm going to try washing once a week. I only washed twice a week and only used a clarifying shampoo but didn't realize I also need to use a moisturize shampoo and clarifying is only needed when hair feels really grimy, product build, etc. Third, and now I know, dont use so many products when moisturizing lol. I was doing a leave-in, creme, oil then a butter but when you explained in another video just start with 2 and use light amount first, that clicked! Anyway, this is my longest comment ever but because your videos are very helpful and I look forward to seeing how better my hair does.

Another great one Iyda. And yep I totally agree with you on gels being the best sealant. My hair is a lot thicker than yours so even when I used to use Shea butter on it, a couple days later my hair would feel stiff, oily and dry. 🤔 Whereas with Gel my hair can go an entire week and still feel soft and moisturised. My hair doesn’t even like leave-in conditioners. However warming some water with a smidgin of ACV (hair doesn’t like aloe juice), and glycerin, and then closing the cuticle back with the same mixture but a COLD version has been working wonders for me! If it wasn’t for the fact that your hair likes clays, leave-ins, and the LCO method (LOC all the way, 😍), I swear we’d be hair twins. Even the looser texture at the front.... I would never have thought to use another DC for that area. 😀 So keep em coming girlfriend. You’re doing a great job. And did I tell you that your hair looks gorgeous btw??? Your hard work and TLC is obviously paying off. 👍🏾

Thank you so much for sharing this information. I do use the majority of the products mentioned with care. Trying to find a balance is tricky with low porosity medium density hair. For example I wash & deep condition weekly. Monthly I do the bentonite clay mask and deep condition afterwards. Every 2months I color, seal & use a protein deep conditioner. I spritz warm water in my hair daily and seal.

Thanks for this educational video. It was very informative and well done. I have low porosity hair with 3b,3c, 4a,4c textures. I'm still having a hard time figuring out what to use on my hair since the front, back, sides and top have different textures and curl patterns. And my hair ranges from medium to coarse texture. I did learn that my hair was being destroyed by using too much protein in it. And my hair hates creams but loves gel. Is it possible that because of the 4 different textures, my hair can be low and high porosity? I don't want to use for different products! Is there one that can work on ALL types of textures?

    • @YourMajesty143
      @YourMajesty143 2 роки тому

3b, 3c, 4a, 4c are not textures, they're curl patterns and are irrelevant to the type of products you need. The only thing you need to focus on is determining what porosity level you are. Once that's determined, then search products that support your porosity needs and that help manage your medium to coarse texture. So if you're saying that you are low porosity, then typically your hair takes longer to get wet, it takes longer to dry, it's sensitive to protein, it gets buildup easily, it tends to easily get dehydrated and needs moisture, it tends to respond better to lightweight water-based products rather than heavier oil-based products, etc. If you're experiencing this only in some parts of your hair, but not in others, then yes it's possibly some parts are high and low porosity. But low porosity products work for most hair types, so I would err on the low porosity side and add denser/heavier products like thicker leave-ins, protein masks, styling creams and oils on the parts that you feel are high porosity.

Hi, the flaxseed gel or the Linum Usitatissimum (Linseed) Seed Extract are like a protein on the hair? Thank you!

I need some shine and slip! I'd pretty much given up on my hair for the sake of simplicity (also being cheap and lazy). BUT it's time to start loving my hair again. It's so dull and frizzy 😑

does the ph value of the hair product matter from low, medium and high porosity or should the product have a ph of 4.5-5.5 regardless of the product or the porosity of the hair

Ive been waiting for someone to break this porosity thing down BY INGREDIENT! Such helpful info, now I dont have to wait for my subscriptions to review products, just go by the label. As a curly in the north east I'm wondering if you have any of these kinds of tips for the cold dry weather?

JoshableJr thank you! I just make sure to seal my hair and use more moisturizing leave ins like the tgin leave in and protect my hair from the cold weather by covering my hair or wearing protective styles !

I've found hot oil treatments to be a life savvy during the cold dry winters in Chicago. I do them before I shampoo to keep from getting buildup on my fine hair. You can do diy oil treatments or purchase one. Done regularly, hot oil treatments can reduce frizz and help your hair retain moisture longer. I can also use heavier oils and butters on my ends during the winter without weighing my hair down. I also recommend getting a humidifier for your home. I start using mine in my bedroom as soon as I turn my heat on for the winter. The dry, indoor air can really dry out your skin and hair.

Thanks for the video, I learnt a lot cause I aslo have a low porority and my hair doesn't really like proteins. (Only low proteins like silk protein)
My only tip is to stay away from Fenugrec oil & seeds
Do you think we should not using castor oil ? I was wondering myself
Btw, do u have Fulani or Falacha origins ? In fact Iam Fulani (French-Fulani as I used to say ;)) So sorry for my medium/bad English ;)...
    Be Blessed !

low porosity and coarse textured tight curls is a combination so tricky it makes me feel defeated. i mean you need all that hold and that much product to achieve definition but no you have to use less product and thinner consistency because Low porosity but then you lose definition because not enough amount and thickness of product ugggh

I find I get really good definition with a good twisting butter like Camille Rose Almond Jai. You don't have to use a lot. Probably layer it with diluted leave in conditioner spray for maximum moisture.
