Man Saves Multiple Deer Stranded On Frozen Lake in Ontario

- A man from Ontario, Canada, managed to save three deer stranded on a frozen lake after coming across them while out skating on his lunch break on December 3.
The uploader, who prefers to be called RP, told Storyful he knew it was a race against time to rescue the deer from the lake. “I went back to work and grabbed some rope. The ice was still too thin for any kind of vehicle, so skating was the only option,” RP said.
After managing to tie the rope around each of the animals, RP dragged the deer to the edge of the ice, where they were able to regain their footing and safely stand.
“The two younger ones took off running right away, but the doe stuck around with what seemed like an injured hip or leg,” RP said. He called the Ontario Natural Resources Ministry but was told that since the lake was not entirely frozen, it would not be safe for anyone to immediately visit the scene to further assess the situation.

I love how he did all that without even actually touching any of them. And the last two that got pulled together, cracked me up how the very last deer was chilling the whole time. Even when his friend was panicking a little. "Yeah. Ok. Im just being pulled along the ice. I was stuck before, but wasn't very bothered. And still wasn't bothered when this weird looking deer put something around our necks and pulled us of the frozen lake."

Looks to me like that took some time and effort on his part to save them, and as more than a few have pointed out, the deer weren't much help! Kudos to this guy for not just leaving them out there to starve or to become wolf or coyote chow. The guy has a good heart and if deer could talk I'm sure they would be grateful!
I agree. Though you don't have to be able to talk to show that you're grateful. Example: Dogs. They show it all the time.
The noose train and the butt poke made me laugh, but I have incredible respect for the man for being able to skate three full grown deer across a lake to safety, and to have the zen needed to keep them calm while hq removed the rope. Holy wow.

Actually it is pretty funny. The way the deer were struggling and their legs were slipping and sliding out sideways from under them -- it was so ungainly and awkward and undignified!
(We can laugh about it because nobody was hurt and they were saved and everything turned out all right in the end.)

As a hunter myself I must give u a job well done brother! Those deer knew you were not there to kill them but save them for sure. The wolves or coyotes wud of had them before morning guaranteed!
Its what alot of people don't understand about us hunters. I would have done the same. Thos comment section however shows alot of folks that give a wild animal human attributes and emotion. That's what causes alot of wildlife to be killed. Especially when it comes to black bear.

@@ross-carlson Coz (I'm just speculating with audio) the guy was on ice skates and I don't think it was easy for him(there were several deer) to grab them and take them to end of the corner and obviously he was not prepared so he took what he found.

Pinkie Love The only thing leaving them out there would do is they would die then freeze predators most likely would not come on to the ice to get them so the death would be pointless and not help the cycle of life. Every time I found a deer in or on the lake it has been from a neighbors dog chasing them out there, not wolves or coyotes
