I don't like the "COVID-compliant" cases with no gallery/audience ... I prefer the older cases with real people in the room, not bloody TV screens. I unsubscribed from this channel because of those. It's more natural to have actual people in the same room if possible.

Yeah, I don't understand why the judge at the end said the defendant was a good guy but was wrong to keep the deposit. Even the defendent couldn't defend his own actions. I guess the judge felt she couldn't be too hard on him because of his connections with the prestigious museum and possibly other venues in Florida that the judge may one day end up using.
He's super lucky he thought to not say his business's name. This was gross behavior and it reflects badly on him and his company. I'd never use him for anything after this. Just leaves a bad taste in your mouth that he thought this was justifiable.
Do the people that withhold their last name and/or the name of their business really think it makes a difference... They're on national television, at this point it doesn't matter if they withhold information. The world already knows what they did to their clients. The damage to their image was already done the second this show started. Maybe instead of trying to hide what nasty a person he is, he should just pay the planttiffs their money and walk away with his reputation in tact.
What a jerk move! It was MORE THAN CLEAR they deserved their money back. THEY BOUGHT THE VENUE AND HE CAME WITH THE VENUE and the venue was taken away from them.
I truly believe that he knew that the Dow was going under construction and just wanted to take their money. Then later either cater for them somewhere else or just keep it. Shady dude all around.
As many already know, it’s not like they chose him as a caterer. In other words, they were obligated to choose him as a caterer because of the venue. He knows that because now the venue is sold, they might not need him or want him to perform services.and I guess he doesn’t want to lose out on money and chose to do what he did which was an awful thing. Shame on him!
Officer Macintosh doesn’t looks like he’s aged a bit over the years. Officer is very professional in his role. You don’t see that often. Thank you officer Macintosh for keeping it real.
Defendant was a jerk for not wanting to give the money back when he knew they couldn’t have their wedding there. He thought he was going to force them to use him as a caterer, I wouldn’t recommend him or his business. The Dow uses Savor and SMG now I hope they dumped him for his ignorance of improper practice.
The thing that bothers me the most is when the defendants are wrong and they show no remorse, compassion nor awareness even after they lose. They just hold on to their selfish opinions, greediness, and arrogance.
Not necessarily. Most times, these acquisitions are completely under wraps (albeit with a lot of hearsay). They typically don't inform employees or vendors until after everything is done and they begin transition process.
Why did the judge need to say I think your a perfectly nice business man....Does she expect to see him again in Florida so she doesn't want to disrespect him, because he was definitely not a nice business man.
Imagine a business owner thinking they could abscond with their customers money in a case like this. I didn't think any judge would have ruled differently. He thought he was going to get away with it. What a crummy thief.
very glad that they made it on to the show, because this guy was such a jerk, that if they won in small claims court (which they hopefully would have) this guy would have probably still never given the money back. he would have just dodged them any chance he had. I wonder how many more people he has done this to. even after he was initially willing to give the money back he was going to withhold some. because he's that much of a jerk that he somehow thinks hes entitled to it. I sincerely hope no one has to deal with him anymore and that his business went under.
Isn't he embarrassed? He was greedy and he knew it. He saw a couple that were so incredibly nice and probably never imagined they would actually take him to court.
Either he's not right thinking or he simply can't afford the loss of $ so went with this lame argument. They didn't seek out, contact and hire him to be the caterer of their wedding, they wanted a specific venue that he happened to have a locked contract with - he was "hired" by them because he was their only option for the venue they wanted. Once the venue was no longer available, they had no further obligation to do business with him and the return of their money should have been immediate. His behaviour in this case was, IMO, literally criminal.
It’s so cheesy and sleazy, for the defendant to take their money when he knew he couldn’t give services there, and his response that there were other places available was gross.
Defendant needs to get over himself. They didn’t pick you, they were stuck with you because you were the one they had to hire if they wanted that location.
Caterer got greedy indeed. It sure doesn't make him look good at all. No wonder he didn't want the name of his business mentioned. The couple is better off without his greedy services.
The defendant didn't make any sense. They didn't hire him as a caterer they hired the venue, and this dude just happened to be "the caterer." Stay clear of this guy's business, bad practices. Horrible
I knew it!! Dang, can JM ever hear a case about FL WITHOUT mentioning she lives there, her daughters have done this & that there, etc., etc.!! We get it, you have a wonderful life, etc., but please spare us your boasting!!
Sounds like to me the defendant spent the money on himself and then was too broke to pay it back, even though it was supposed to be a business deal through company he works for.
It's a minor thing but I thought it was cool hearing her talk about her daughter being in 4th grade in this episode and then in the later ones hearing how they are all in college

That guy's an awful businessman. No point in reiterating what the judge said. The contract is void due to the sale of the Dow. Point blank.
And that's part of why he didn't want his business name to be used
