- The defendant hired the plaintiff to renovate his body garage. The defendant failed to pay for his services, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant argues he paid the plaintiff, but he just kept asking for more.

I understand the plaintiffs frustration and anger but there is a big difference between handling things like an adult and a child. There is no excuse for cursing at someone via text! Be the better person!!

This! I worked for an amazing man that owned a property maintenance company and he paid a living wage and charged amazing prices and offered discounts. He cut the women’s shelter grass for free, but so many ppl ripped him off he had to close his business. I don’t think ppl understand how often this happens to contractors and it’s very frustrating. Once the work is done ppl will find ANY reason not to pay

Kids pick up on their parents actions. My two children never heard me say profanity until one day they were in their teens and don't remember what they did but pissed me off and I looked at them and said, "I'm about ready to whip somebody's @$$" They were shocked and you could hear a pin drop. LOL I apologized and to this day as married adults in their 30's they've never heard me use cuss words again but they remember that day.
Cussing is like yelling. If you yell all the time, people around you get used to the yelling and tune you out, so when you have a real reason to yell, no one takes you seriously.
I know a woman like that, and her kids are so used to it that it doesn't affect them at all. They don't listen.

I'm the same as you. I don't like foul language so I don't do it casually like everyone seems to these days. The other day I got really upset and used a cuss word, and people around me were so shocked lol. Everyone wanted to know what happened and if they could help.

Also, here’s a thought. He didn’t have a ring on. Maybe he’s a single father who decided this was a chance to take his teenage daughter on a free trip to watch the wheels of justice in action with the coolest judge ever. Maybe they spent a bit of his settlement on some fun activities together. As far as his texts-he was absolutely in the wrong. No excuses. However-he wasn’t defensive and admitted repeatedly how wrong he was. He took the correction from the judge like a real man. Who knows what impact that may have had on her. She was not shocked by anything she heard-she’s grown up with him. But maybe now she’ll start to see how inappropriate it is instead of giggling at it. This is all conjecture, but I do find it strange that most people in the comments are way more upset over the plaintiffs’ jeans than the defendant’s theft.
Plaintiff bought the daughter to show he has a responsibility to provide for her & this guy is stiffing him on money he earned. One thing he showed her is don’t let someone cheat you! Stand up for yourself. $1800 bucks is a lot of money.

I am shocked that this adult child brought his 13 year old who is smiling throughout the session to witness her dad's best moment. He is teaching his daughter how to be an angry adult. Just saw the plaintiffs obituary…sigh. Was only 51 when he passed, in spite of all this I really don’t think he was a bad father. Seeing that he had anger issues I imagine he probably had some heart or blood pressure problems.

Hate when judges speak like they are holier than thou!! Like they never told a lie in their life or did anything that was illegal really I'm sure if you dig deep enough there are some times when that judge got away with crap that she should not have gotten away with all because she made a few phone calls or she did a few favors for other people in her little circle😅

Guys clam down you can dress regularly in civil court it makes a good good impression to dress nice in court but criminal court is way different this is civil someone shouldn’t come in with short shorts and breast out but what there wearing there’s nothing wrong plus it’s a 13 years old girl of course she’s going to laugh the father probably doesn’t have the best judgment but don’t have to say how there dressing and the little girl laughing

"When I was a little girl I used to paint his toenails while he was sleeping on the couch. I'm sure he didn't like it but he would always laugh and smile. That's the kind of person my Dad was. He would help you out when you're going through a difficult time, and he would make you laugh so hard that you would end up crying. Paid him $35 bucks an hour and his helper $20 an hour, $55 a hour is pretty cheap for the scope of the job and a verbal contract. Sounds like the plaintiff was working on the cheap and the defendant was paying on the cheap, but defendant messed up by putting that notation on the check . You get what you pay for !

As a once-upon a time small business owner, self run, I learned I had to keep records of everything from the first interaction to the final closure of the project. I could NOT count on the client to keep their own records so i took on that responsibility as well. It's a tough lesson to learn as we all want to be treated with respect and dignity. But if the sub flubbs their work or the owner short changes you, take them to court and present ALL of your records INCLUDING p[hotos~!~~

Seems to me that there was a huge miscommunication problem between these two litigants for the construction job in question throughout! The incident and confrontation at the funeral talked about here was very sad and unfortunate. The text messages read aloud were bad as well.
