    Thank you so much. This was super helpful. Exactly what I needed to start scanning the slides I recently found. ~ Lisa

    This was a great help in scanning old slides, the views of Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico in 1967 are now digitized and in the cloud.

    Great, short and straight forward "how to" video with no useless BS.

    Wow, Epson has some pretty bad documentation, so I am glad this excellent video was available. My favorite setting from the Epson app was the 'Document Type: Film > Positive Film.' Or, as everyone else on the planet calls it, a slide.

    Thank you so much for the instructions. Epson offers very little help, so this was great to find.

    The preferred setting is in Professional mode as that gives you more options.

    I have some 1969 slides from 126 (Kodak Instamatic camera) film. I think I'm missing something because the scanner keeps cropping them as 35 mm (24x36mm) when they should be 28x28mm (126 film is the same as 135 film with sprocket holes only on one side).

    Hmm, I have a mac, and Image Capture looks different from your Epson Scan control panel. kinda scans, but doesn't separate them and the quality isn't great even for 600 dpi. Anyone else have trouble with this?

    A problem i have encountered is that it cuts a bit too much of the rim of the images

    I couldn't LOVE this more. I am using a MAC, and the software CD that came with it does not work with my new Mac. So after getting an "updated" driver download, I then see I have to download another software because their Digitigal ICE does not work with Mac. By this time I was very frustrated. Finally got it all done and could not figure out how to use the 2 holders, and of course there are NO instructions in the box, it just says "refer to the manual" only after going through the box again, did I realize the "manual" is online as well. I was about to pack the whole thing up and return it.

      same thing here, how did you finally figure it out? I've downloaded Silverlight and I'll try that

      @@SuzanneAllardDesign I am also having this problem. I can scan photos but when I open the software to change the settings for slides, the option is not offered. My software does not look like what is shown on UA-cam. I tried downloading whatever was listed as the "newest" software and nothing. Apple site was no help. If anyone has anything helpful I'd appreciate it since the slides I'm trying to scan have sentimental value.

    This is not the same interface I have on my V600 software. The slide holder is not the same orientation. The software is not the same menus.
    My Unit is called Epson Perfection V600 Photo in the same location. It has the same ICE and Energy Start logos in the same location.
    Scanning 4 slides in the holder produces ONE image of four items, not 4 images of 1 item each.
    What is happening between these instructions and my IRL experience?

    Aren't you supposed to specifically choose a certain side of the slide to lay down? The glossy or satin side?

    • @JacksonvillePublicLibrary
      @JacksonvillePublicLibrary  3 роки тому +7

      Hi, Alan! The slides should be placed glossy side down and the images should appear backward to you. Does that help?

    How do I scan 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 slides?

  • @magpet

    How long approximately does it take to scan 4 slides on 600dpi? I have about 1000, so i don't want it to be too time consuming😅

    • @dannychild5851
      @dannychild5851 3 роки тому +3

      I know this is old, but just for the record... Preview took 1 minute, and full Scan took about 40 seconds per slide at 600 dpi and 6" x 4" images. So, with a 4-slide holder, it's a good 4 minutes all told. So, 1000 slides is 16hrs 40 minutes...

    Thank you for the instructional video. However, since Apple's "upgrade" to 64 bit applications, the scanning software/interface no longer matches the one in your video. (Plus... perhaps you're on a PC?)

    Very inadequate explanation - how do you orientate the slides ? How do you scan in sequence all four and number them logically ? - you leave so much out ! Very frustrating.

    • @JacksonvillePublicLibrary
      @JacksonvillePublicLibrary  3 роки тому +1

      Hi, Peter. We're sorry that happened! The slides should be placed glossy side down and they should appear backwards to you when you're looking at them.
      The scanner automatically scans all four slides each time and it defaults to name the images in numerical order (001, 002...). You can choose to add an alphabetical prefix to the file name (FLA001, FLA002...) Or you opt to begin the numbers somewhere else (120, 121...). All of this can be done on the settings screen prior to scanning.
      Does that help? We have a photo that might help with the orientation. We'll try to get it into the video but hope the explanation helps a bit. Let us know if you still have questions. Thanks for watching!
