Being from the UK and from a town that in the 1950s was the worlds biggest and busiest fish port, the batter should be light and crispy and the chips crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside, calling those 'fish & chips' is a travesty. No self respecting fish & chip shop would serve 'fish bites' instead of a fillet of fish, those are just for kids. Sticking Gordon Ramsay on the pack yo'd think they'd use the best chips, cooked in beef dripping rather than tasteless vegetable oil.
@@MRblazedBEANS lard in the UK is pig fat and isn't traditionally used for fish and chips. Pollack is the cheapest fish on the market shelves. It's 1/3 the cost of cod. We fry up whole filets and fries for 2 dollars each or so. It's pretty good fish.
I had this yesterday and that's way too harsh. I salted my fries and had it with ketchup, they weren't gourmet, but for a frozen meal they were just fine. I also added a little Tony's chachere seasoning to my fish and made a delicious tartar sauce. If you eat the meal with condiments and seasoning just like normal people do, you will actually find it a pleasing midnight snack or quick enjoyable lunch. So far it's the best frozen fish I've had. Not tremendously satisfying, but a solid 7.7. I'll definitely pick up a few more of these.

I was told (by someone other than Larry) that it's apparently a joke. I'm still waiting for their explanation on what the punchline is supposed to be though.
I recently ate this myself over the weekend. Basically it's the most disgusting TV dinner I've ever eaten. Like you said the fish batter is flavorless. So was the fish. The 14 minutes way overcooked everything My chips were okay on the inside surprisingly and they were edible. The fish however looked a bit off and didn't go down very well. I didn't end up getting sick but the reason why it tasted off is for some reason the batter really absorbed the flavor of the air-fyer and it came out with a very STRONG oven flavor. You should try the Macaroni and Cheese one it's so much better.
Pollock, especially prepared like these meals, is always bland. Most White Fish is. That's why I really prefer bream, catfish, trout, tuna, mullet, etc. I like my fish like my coffee, on the strong side. 😂
I came here to ask this too. Another thing from the rip-off department. Showing something on the box which isn't included. Now I know they can't include a lemon slice or tar tar sauce in a frozen meal because they would get ruined, but back in the day, Mrs Paul's put tartar sauce makings in a pouch that you mixed with Mayo to make it. At least they tried. A small pouch of lemon juice would work too, but the game is to call it a "serving suggestion", and you have to provide it yourself.
In my Humble Opinion - the best Fish & Chips frozen meals were the Swanson Fish & Chips they had in the late 70's/80's until they disappeared. Nothing beat them. :) Reply if you remember them!
More political facts; The $400 million was Iran’s to start with, placed into a US-based trust fund to support American military equipment purchases in the 1970s. When the Shah was ousted by a 1979 popular uprising that led to the creation of the Islamic Republic, the US froze the trust fund. Iran has been fighting for a return of the funds through international courts since 1981. In announcing the agreement, Obama said that paying the $400 million - plus $1.3 billion in interest - was saving American taxpayers billions of dollars. The Iranians had been seeking more than $10 billion at arbitration.
Maybe I'm just an odd one, but I always look at the container nutrition and just ignore the serving nutrition because I know I'm most likely going to eat the entire container. I'm actually more offended that that they think I'm too dumb to estimate the math on the full container.

I tried the Shepherds Pie. The potatoes weren’t bad. They weren’t great either. But the meat and veggies were very good. The flavor really made up for the potatoes. I would give it a 7/10. Give it a try soon!
The USA owed that to Iran for a failed arms sale since the 1970s That is also a political fact. at 6% interest, the USA technically owes Iran 2 billion
Thanks for the honest review! I agree that this is a single serving considering most frozen entrees are 9 to 10 ounces. At that price point, I would never buy it anyhow. Remember, that price is for about 6 ounces of potatoes and 4 ounces of fish. That alone is a no go for me. Then to find out that Gordon Ramsay's version may not even be as good as the Gorton Fisherman....I am so disappointed! 😢😢😢😢
i'll have to try this with some tarter sauce, like the picture on the box seems to suggest. i've never eaten fish sticks or fish & chips without tarter sauce so i think i'd be disappointed with this meal without it.

I actually bought this exact meal from Walmart a few weeks ago thinking I was in for something delicious. I just saw those "TV Chef" meals for the first time yesterday. I was looking for frozen meals to stock up with, you know, most of them are around $2.50 to $3.50 tops. No way, FIVE DOLLARS? For a frozen meal? Fuggetaboutit. Later that day you teased you'd be reviewing them, FANTASTIC TIMING! Good to know even a picky Chef couldn't make their meal worthwhile.
There's so many different chefs to try now too. When I heard Andrew Zimmern was doing this too, I thought it might be like a frozen cricket 🦗 enchilada or something lol
It's one more example of … "Money talks, B*** S*** walks". Gordon followed the money trail, just like Martha Stewart, Emeril Lagasse, Paula Dean, Guy Fieri, ad nauseam. They ca$h out their name as their career peaks. Don't get me wrong, I've followed Gordon for years, and in most cases I enjoy his productions. I even have a few of his cookbooks, and some Guy Fieri knives. Would I buy a frozen meal with his brand? Only if it was markdown sale priced! Ill stick with Swanson and Banquet, THANK YOU, when I want a frozen meal. Safe, reliable and CHEAP! Thanks, Larry, always!
I along with my family tried all of them and liked them. They were good for a TV dinner. Most TV dinners are just passable unless you get some from Trader Joe's. I reed another article saying that he realized that not everyone can afford to eat at his restaurants or lived near one. But he wanted everyone to enjoy his food. And a frozen TV dinner was the answer.
If 1/2 the box is 230 calories how does the whole box equal 470? My math brain short circuited. Eating both adds 10 phantom calories? Would that make this meal a red herring?
Believe it or not, I doubt he had much if any say on his name being put onto that. He likely like made the choice in his carreer to sell marketing rights to his name. Some suit he probably never met before in his life probably did that.
serving isn't the same thing as "meal". A meal has more than one serving. Serving refers to a "portion" of a meal. Per day the recommendation is "2-1/2 servings vegetable, 3 servings dairy, 2 servings fruit, 6 servings Grains, 5-1/2 oz of protein meat/veg, 3 Tbsp Fat/Oil .
I have had only one of the GR frozen meals... The Chicken Pot Pie. It is FANTASTIC. I read the Walmart reviews and I was like, NOPE to every other meal.

The Chicken Scallopini one has powdered cellulose...wood pulp. Yum, wood pulp.
At my walmart, it started at 7 and dropped to 6..
I can't wait to see the upcoming series of videos!
There's so many different chefs to try now too. When I heard Andrew Zimmern was doing this too, I thought it might be like a frozen cricket 🦗 enchilada or something lol
Gotta eat the fish with malt vinegar. You will have to try it again when you get your kitchen back together.
Nails are on point!
MUSHY PEAS!!!! You got that right!
Are there microwave instructions?
The secret to ‘air frying’ is the right temp and turning things over.
Second secret season as you will, don’t be afraid of hot sauce 🔥🔥😇
Id put ketchup on my fries and the fish so i think it should be better with that
His Fish and Chips joint in Vegas is real good.
Nothing like this frozen version.
It looks fluffy on the inside, and crispy on the outside. Honestly I'd say it LOOKS pretty good, but I've been fooled before.
Everybody on tiktok gave it a 1 lol 😂
Oh my god - where can I buy this??
Any Gordon Ramsay Restaurant or Walmart.
If 1/2 the box is 230 calories how does the whole box equal 470? My math brain short circuited. Eating both adds 10 phantom calories? Would that make this meal a red herring?
Larry the intro music is really quiet. What happened?
Believe it or not, I doubt he had much if any say on his name being put onto that. He likely like made the choice in his carreer to sell marketing rights to his name. Some suit he probably never met before in his life probably did that.
Should have just gone with GORTEN the FISHERMANS brand! hahahahahh Aloha~~ from Hawaii~~ 🍍🤙🏽🤙🏽
serving isn't the same thing as "meal".
I love his beautiful pink fingernails. Gordon Ramsey aprooves!
I have had only one of the GR frozen meals... The Chicken Pot Pie. It is FANTASTIC. I read the Walmart reviews and I was like, NOPE to every other meal.
