But it never stays completely in place; when the package is opened it's always slid to one side or the other and looks kind of awful even tho it doesn't affect the taste. It’s an absolute must that you check the internal temperature of your microwave dinner with the cleanest finger or thumb you have available at that particular time😊
I'm guessing the six dollops of potato and cheddar is due to the manufacturing line have two spigots that squirt three dollops each as it goes by. Makes for a faster production line than having to stop and make one big squirt.

Wow you could probably do much more content of stuff like this, I have also seen Chef Ramsay's Lasagna and Kardea Brown's country fried chicken and mashed potatoes in my area, various pot pies, and more. If they had them in your area, could be worth a look for sure.
Based on Wolfie's review alone I decided to give this a try. I don't use a microwave, so I removed the frozen meal from the cardboard bowl, put it on a metal plate, then put it in the air fryer at 350 for about 20 minutes. It came out perfect, and was surprisingly good. The only off-putting thing about it was the words "Contains a bio-engineered ingredient" on the box - I do my best to avoid things like that, but since I did a Walmart pickup order I didn't read the box before I bought it. Even so, I enjoyed the meal. Would I buy it again? Maybe - if I was pressed for time. However, considering that it's quite pricey for a small amount of food (You'll need to supplement it with a salad and some bread to make a meal of it), and has an unspecified bio-engineered ingredient (vaxxed meat or ????), I was motivated to do a search for Gordon's original shepherd's pie recipe and will make it myself. Not only will it work out cheaper, but I can control what I put into it.
The corn is almost certainly the bioengineered ingredient. There is no bioengineered animal product approved for use by the FDA or USDA for human consumption.
I know why they went with little dollops of mash instead of a thick layer, it's because mashed potatoes being reheated from frozen takes FOREVER, while the meat and gravy cooks relatively fast. I know these meals are about convenience, but there is a simple solution to this. You package the potatoes separately in their own container, heat them up apart from the gravy and beef and veg, then spoon it on top. You could even put it in a retort pouch, direct the consumer to boil the bag and massage/shake it to mix it up after warming up, then cut the corner and pipe the potatoes on top.
Traditionally, a shepards pie is made with lamb and a cottage pie is made with beef. I couldn't help noticing they skimped on the veggies. It should have a combination of softened carrot, onion and celery, known in French cooking as a mirepoix and enough mashed potatoes to cover the dish. If you say it tastes okay, I'll take your word on it.

ive never checked the temp of microwave meals and never had any trouble i think but i also follow the instructions when first eating sothing until i get the hang of it then i do it the way i think is best
Maybe these are supposed to be companion meals for watching kitchen nightmares. Instead of Ramsay's own recipes these are the ones he shut down in other people's restaurants.
Having cooked using a microwave for a stupid long time, I sadly understand many of its limitations. Having been in the Navy and gone around the world a bit, and worked elbow to elbow with Commonwealth types... I do understand that traditional English recipes like Shepard's Pie may be altered quite a bit so its palatable to American tastes.
I think the "dollops" are for more even cooking. If it was a solid thick layer of taters then it might not cook as evenly or as quickly. But thats just a guess, you'll have to ask Gordo himself for the real answer. And it's still too damn expensive.
I don't check the internal temp of microwaved frozen packaged food. I think it's a USDA requirement that it be heated to 165F since that's when all microbes are killed at one second. But it's too high a temp for many foods to retain their ideal texture and flavor.
Tbh I don’t get all the people saying that this wouldn’t roll in a restauraunt. Like of course, it’s not meant to be restauraunt food. It’s 4-6 dollar frozen food meant to be microwaved, not meant to be served in a Michelin kitchen. Context y’all.
There’s just one problem with calling this a Shepherd’s Pie…. It technically isn’t. Because it uses beef instead of lamb it’s technically a Cottage Pie. There was an episode of Kitchen Nightmares US where Gordon himself pointed this out.
You tell me all I need to know before you open the box,,,, THE PRICE. If I like it, I don't care about any nutition, it's all about the TASTE, as you would say !
"So it's a Cottage's Pie, not a Shepherd's Pie. Because the Shepherd stands for the... (long silence) sheep."" - Gordon Ramsay / Kitchen Nightmares I just find it a bit ironic how Gordon Ramsay commented negatively on a few occasions toward others how a Shepherd's Pie that use any other type of meat then lamb is a Cottage's Pie, yet the product that use his likeness to promote it also use the name "Shepherd's Pie" for something that doesn,t use any lamb. lol
23g of protein being 2% of DV?! that means a "normal" person should eat 1150g (or little over 2pounds) of pure protein! God I love how they don't even proofread their nutritional values, and let this go to market like that. In the EU, that would have been a recall straight away. I understand its just a small printing error but man. if they let that stuff pass, wonder what happens in the food factory. Same way chlorinated chicken is really not inherently bad for your health but the fact that they do it just opens up the door for a lot of food safety issues. ANYWAY, thanks Larry!
i have literally never checked the temperature of anything I've heated/cooked in the microwave lol I always go for like the middleground of the times they list on the package, I don't think I've ever owned a 1000 watt microwave so I kinda always skewed a bit longer.

ive never checked the temp of microwave meals and never had any trouble i think but i also follow the instructions when first eating sothing until i get the hang of it then i do it the way i think is best
But having beef makes it a cottage pie...
@@RustyVaperGameplaybut for some reason us Americans call it sheperds anyway
I think the "dollops" are for more even cooking. If it was a solid thick layer of taters then it might not cook as evenly or as quickly. But thats just a guess, you'll have to ask Gordo himself for the real answer. And it's still too damn expensive.
Stopping at the protein is great
I never check the temp. Its already cooked. As long as its hot inside.
frankly, that makes the Trader Joe's one look much better.
I saw this at Walmart tonight, thought about buying it. I didn't. Then I get home to see this 😊
HOLY SHIT he has a frozen food line?! That's wiiiiiild!
Mr Wolfe pit. That shepherd pie looks awesome!! If you like it,Gordon's going to make a mint! Love your videos 📹 keep up the great work 👍
Thanks 👍
As far as shepherds pie goes, it looks awful... On the other hand, as a cottage pie, it works.
I don't check the internal temp of microwaved frozen packaged food. I think it's a USDA requirement that it be heated to 165F since that's when all microbes are killed at one second. But it's too high a temp for many foods to retain their ideal texture and flavor.
It tastes good, I am a fan.
I'm good with what you normally read off
Good thing I was sitting down!!
Uncle Roger needs to review this.
I want Scooter's take on this. 😅
As a chef, this episode was hilarious.
Tbh I don’t get all the people saying that this wouldn’t roll in a restauraunt. Like of course, it’s not meant to be restauraunt food. It’s 4-6 dollar frozen food meant to be microwaved, not meant to be served in a Michelin kitchen. Context y’all.
We all know Gorden Ramsay didn't make any of this. He was paid to use his name.
There’s just one problem with calling this a Shepherd’s Pie…. It technically isn’t. Because it uses beef instead of lamb it’s technically a Cottage Pie. There was an episode of Kitchen Nightmares US where Gordon himself pointed this out.
The only reason they use cheddar instead of parmesan is because it's CHEAPER.
TRUE!
You tell me all I need to know before you open the box,,,, THE PRICE. If I like it, I don't care about any nutition, it's all about the TASTE, as you would say !
Watching this while eating the four cheese macaroni.
I have this in my freezer now lol now i can eat it without fear
YES! please read the vitamins and minerals as well as the other nutrients. Thanks! 😁
The flavor ISSSSS quite good 🤤 but it’s like a sloppy stew. Maybe over a biscuit it would be better 😊
I think it's fine stopping at the protein unless the minerals has something really out of the ordinary
Corky's meals are good. The one with the pulled pork.
I’m fine with reading the nutrition facts up to the protein.
"So it's a Cottage's Pie, not a Shepherd's Pie. Because the Shepherd stands for the... (long silence) sheep."" - Gordon Ramsay / Kitchen Nightmares
I just find it a bit ironic how Gordon Ramsay commented negatively on a few occasions toward others how a Shepherd's Pie that use any other type of meat then lamb is a Cottage's Pie, yet the product that use his likeness to promote it also use the name "Shepherd's Pie" for something that doesn,t use any lamb.
ANYWAY, thanks Larry!
i have literally never checked the temperature of anything I've heated/cooked in the microwave lol
I always go for like the middleground of the times they list on the package, I don't think I've ever owned a 1000 watt microwave so I kinda always skewed a bit longer.
You are NEVER going to get a crunchy top in a microwave, LOL
