hello hello everyone! welcome to my playthrough of one of the most beloved kingdom hearts games! so sorry if it took so long for me to upload this video. the original videos are around 25-30 hours in total and i pretty much covered all of the disney worlds (1st visit). so, condensing all of them was an absolute challenge and hands down, it's the HARDEST video that i've ever made since i also tried my best to keep the context and the key plot as much as i possibly could. nevertheless, i really do hope that you enjoy this video! despite the challenge, i had a lot of fun editing and reliving this whole experience with the game! and the foreshadowing got me like ooooolalaaa! also, stay tuned for the next part, which is the FINALE! it's gonna be an emotional one! AND PLEASE TELL ME THAT I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO LOVES ROXAS. see y'all in the next video and take care everyone! 🧡
Roxas is plenty of people's favourites, but I look forward to seeing your eventual list KH2 is a banger, even if it's not my favourite it's definitely my second..maybe third
@@TaliesinMyrddin heya there! fun fact, kingdom hearts 2 is also not my number 1 favorite but it's still such an awesome experience! may i know what's your favorite kingdom hearts?? we may share the same favorite!
@@skyeifer Oh, it's difficult, cuz I love different ones for different reasons haha Union X has an insane story that I love, though I can't really say it's my favourite cuz it's practically a collection of cutscenes. Birth by Sleep has some of my favourite moments because of the backstory, and 0.2 is probably my favourite experience - almost all highs, and my favourite KH opening, certainly. I dunno if it's my favourite *game*, though. Same for KH:DDD - great opening, fun game, very fun ending story but not all of it was as high as the highest points, whereas 0.2 felt like it was consistently up there. Days was great from a story perspective, and probably my favourite from a storytelling perspective. A couple of my favourite characters there. But I think ultimately KH3 is my favourite when you include the Remind DLC in it, because of all the callbacks, the leitmotifs, the music, the visuals and the flare, the ease of movement and the story from a particular point on was almost all just exactly the kind of fanservice I love up until the end - and then Remind added to it with even more. I'm not sure where exactly you got to with KH yet, if you've finished completely or not, so I'll just say KH3 was one of the few OSTs I've actually bought (along with Xenoblade 2 and soon 3) and there's one track in particular that made me grin the entire fight
@@TaliesinMyrddinKINGDOM HEARTS 3 IS MY 2ND FAVORITE IN THE FRANCHISE! it brought a lot of emotions out of me! my number one favorite, lore-wise would be UNION CROSS! i'd sell my soul for an HD remake along with dark road!
@@skyeifer Haha! I'm so glad you reckon UX is so high, lorewise. I really hope you watched it along with the series in order, that moment in KH3 with all the keyblades was SO amazing as a UX player at the time - part of why I love KH3 so much was that contributing to the ending lol. It also gave rise to a couple of my favourite silly KH meme videos - JustaPancacke's Sora's family tree and Nomura must be stopped videos
There's something so funny about Corey Burton voicing pretty much every old man in Kingdom Hearts. Like in scenes where a faceless character speaks with his voice and you think "who could that be? this voice belongs to five other different characters!" Anwyay, the entire build-up to the end of Roxas's segment up until Sora leaves Twilight Town and meets Yen Sid might just be my favorite moment in the entire series. It's so well done.
@@skyeifer Well, in KH2 DiZ/Ansem the Wise was voiced by Christopher Lee, but after he died the same guy who voices Yen Sid took over voicing Ansem the Wise, too (and I think Frollo in KH3D) Amusingly the woman who voices Maleficent also voices the Wicked Queen from the Snow White world and the step mother in Cinderella's world, so BBS is basically the first three worlds are dealing with villains with the same voice lol
358/2 days is a 3 hour long cutscene movie but it’s not boring it keeps a good pace and the ending is so rewarding and has you sitting on the edge of your seat and you’re literally guaranteed to cry it’s a 8/10 experience overall.
When I was twelve years old, I was allowed to play this game on the big TV while my mother was awake. A rare occasion. I had gotten to the Disney Castle portion of the game, and my mom, a MASSIVE fan of the original Mickey Mouse Club heard the theme song played as the background music, and started listening to the game. Eventually I she asked me what the plot of the game was. And so I explained. For the next hour and a half. I went through everything. The difference between heartless and nobodies, the keyblade, the Organization. Everything we had at that point in time. And god bless that woman's soul, she tried. She tried her hardest to get it. It was a great thing about my mom. She new I liked to talk a lot about my interests, so she would ask me questions. And sometimes she got it, and sometimes she didn't, and god bless her with Kingdom she DID HER DAMNEDEST. But when I got to the importance of Mickey Mouse into the plot, hitherto unmentioned in my recap, she started laughing. And I mean, crying, can't breathe POUNDING THE COFFEE TABLE LAUGHING. That's when she completely gave up. From that point on "And then there's Mickey Mouse" became my mother's shorthand for a plot becoming too convoluted for her to handle. Kingdom Hearts II is my favorite video game ever made. Not only is it a great story, attatched to great gameplay, attached to beautiful music and visuals, it is the purest representation of my mother's attempts to make me happy. A single mom who didn't make a lot of money, couldn't buy me a lot, just listening intently to all of my silly little interests. So whenever people talk about this game, I listen. I think you've probably earned a sub at this point.
I know it's not at all important, but something about that one thing Tron said near the start of the Tron world, the 50 microcycles thing. Obviously it's a made up unit of time, but the base unit of cycle is a year inside the Tron world. Time is pretty heavily dilated inside the computer world. One cycle, which is one year inside the computer, is only about a week outside. 50 Millicycles is a little less than half an hour.
So basically Sora seals the worlds hearts keyholes in KH1 to avoid their destruction, but he opens gates in KH2 just so they can travel to other worlds with the gummiship since the walls separating the worlds were restored at the end of KH1 meaning the old way of traveling wouldn't work anymore. There are no more keyholes to seal after KH1, just passages to open in order to move between worlds.
Barbossa dies because the curse making him immortal and undead is broken right after he's shot in the heart. Jack throws the coin he took to curse himself to Will to have him return it to the chest alongside the one he had. Will then cut himself with the knife he was holding in the cut back to him, and offered his blood to the aztec treasure, specifically the coin that had been fought over for the entire story, and returned both coins to the chest. While it went unseen in both this game and the movie, Jack must have put his own blood on the coin he took at some point, because by adding himself to the ranks of the cursed he also added himself to the blood toll needing to be paid to break the curse.
I swear the design of the Postern area of Hollow Bastion was specifically designed to scare new players when Sephiroth popped up out of nowhere. Seriously, it _looks_ like a boss arena, but that design never lends itself to literally anything.
44:21 Foreshadowing and callback to stuff that happens in later games AND be a reference to Roxas in this game at the same time. Nomura, you mad man (keep it up). 46:26 Actually, you did. Once you beat Maleficent in her Dragon Form, you will receive an item that is the key to get Mushu. Once you have it, go to Traverse Town and talk to the Fairy Godmother, so she will allow you to summon Mushu. And if you paid attention to the flashbacks of memories during Roxas's prologue, you will see Sora summoning Mushu, meaning that Mushu meeting Sora, Donald and Goofy (ding) is CANON in the story! Yay! Continuity!
@@skyeifer If it helps, my first time playing KH1, I missed almost all of the Summons of the game too. They are 6 in total: Simba, Genie, Tinker Bell, Dumbo, Bambi & Mushu. It was supposed to be 7, the last one being Bahamut (yes, Final Fantasy’s Bahamut), but because of outside circumstances (finishing the game on time), it was scrapped. You CAN find a file in the original PS2 game data to make it so Bahamut is a Summon in the game, but if you use him, the game crashes and becomes unplayable. And that’s another KH Fun Facts for you! XD
358/2 is before 2 in the list because when 1.5 and 2.5 were released as separate collections on the PS3, 358/2 was part of 1.5. When the collection title says '1.5 + 2.5' it means it in the most literal way possible.
After typing the password 'ANOTHER' into the computer, Xemnas types six other passwords. Those six passwords are the names of Ansem's six apprentices, including the name of Xemnas' own Somebody, Xehanort. The other names are the original names of Xigbar, Xaldin, Vexen, Lexaeus, and Zexion. Speaking of names, Xemnas' name is what it is because Xehanort had already falsely taken the name Ansem before he turned himself into a Heartless. Also, not sure if you're aware, but if you take the names of the Organization members and remove the X, the remaining letters can be used to form the name of their Somebody. Well, the same can be done with the name Xehanort, and two possibilities have been found. One is 'Another', as in the first password Xemnas used. The other is No Heart, which is also the name of an optional boss in a later game, Birth By Sleep, specifically a boss that is a virtual recreation of Xehanort at his strongest based on combat data stored from his training and fighting days..

Wnb: We like to watch this! I find cute, because all can be happy Sora family! And all come back, and all understand. Is cute story, we hope we meet everyone too! 🦋 Hypatia: We really like to watch these KH videos with our liittle Wnb, because we all think that KH is about plurality / takes place in Sora's headspace, and the message how he gets to meet everyone is one we also find very nice (we're currently at the beginning of KH3 ourselves also). Without saying anything more, just the story of KH2 alone shows how much a system can go through, of changes of hosts (Sora/Roxas) as well as Persecutors etc. I don't know if you even understand that kind of interpretation, and we would not fault you at all if it just sounds strange to you, we just wanted to say that it is a really good representation of trauma and confusing identity stories, and the thing we like the most about it, is that it is positive about that, and doesn't force everyone into a single, all to "human" identity, but gives the other creatures of light and darkness, and of other life and animals, a good place in the story, which is why it is one of our favorite system story to rewatch.
I'm just gonna say it, KH2's rendition of Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl completely ruined the negotiation scene. In the movie when Will threatens to off himself, he's still standing on the railing, and he's leaning back while holding onto one of the ships support ropes with one hand to steady himself while he holds the gun to his head with the other. If he shot himself dead, he'd let go of the rope and fall overboard. I get him not holding the gun to his head in this version because of censorship, but by jumping down onto the deck of the ship he's negated the leverage the threat of his death would have posed. The pirates only need his blood, they don't need him alive. The way I see it, the only reason they had him jump onto the deck was to give Pete something to do in that scene. But when you have to completely wreck such an important moment to shoehorn an out-of-context character into a scene like that, I think it's better not to.
