"After all...who could love a man?" is my absolute favorite line from this video series, Chase is an absolute genius for rolling with that Beast -> Man joke
Fairly sure I posted something like this under the original video, but the whole thing about Kairi forgetting Sora's name gets lost in translation somewhat. In Japanese, Sora means sky, so rather than telling Kairi his name starts with S, I believe the "clue" is related to that instead. That's also why the letter she writes jogs Kairi's memory in the way it does. The letter says "one sky, one destiny". It's the word sky that reminds Kairi of Sora's name.
My favorite scene with Demyx is when Sora first meets him and it's just Demyx: "Hmm let's see here." *checks book* "Roxas?" Sora: "Excuse me?" The way Sora says it is so funny to me because he sounds so confused and already fed up with Demyx 😂
Oathkeeper represents soras connection to kairi and light And oblivion represents riku and darkness You unlock these keyblades through standard progression again. Only on kh3 are they post game unlocks Also the way kairi gets to destiny islands is kinda briefly explained in bbs. And i guess the method which led to it is explained in MoM
Idk if anyone's gonna read this, but my birthday is today and I presented my own Kingdom Hearts lecture today to my pals. I condensed all of the games into 365 PowerPoint slides, but only made it through the first 3 games. REGARDLESS, we're doing the rest in the coming weeks, and I have to thank this series for getting me through the script writing process ((:
2:21:33 God I need Neil’s response to “you ok?” as a reaction gif. Because that is a solid MOOD for me a great deal of the time. Especially whenever I’ve had a particularly rough night, insomnia-wise. ^_^;
2:59:19 So re:Coded is "re:" because KH Coded was a Japan-only mobile game released in 8 episodes from late 2008-early 2010. re:Coded is the enhanced DS port.
Chase you are talking about Kingdom hearts 3! You get Oathkeeper after finding and taking pics of all Hidden Mickeys and you get Oblivion by beating KH3 on Critical Mode.
I know it's been 5 months, but I can actually correct something and maybe reveal something to you. Sora starts off (release wise) the series as a 14 year old. And with each numbered release, he ages 1 year. 15 in 2, 16 in 3.
@@StormCrownSr Nomura has said that 2 and 3 take place during the same summer, though i can't find a direct source cause its from translations. Also the KH3 Ultimania book lists what age he was during different games and they list KH3 as being while he is 15.
1:54:49 The only one of the Ansem Reports in KH1 to be written by Ansem was the first one. The rest were written by Xehanort under Ansem’s name in an attempt to frame him.
1:56:00 ish. Technically, the Nobody does call himself Ansem, because Xemnas is an anagram of Ansem with an X tossed in, so that's not quite true. Also, if you take the X out of Xehanort's name, you get NoHeart.
So, I realized why Hayner thinks Sora is familiar, even though Roxas knew data Hayner. The program DiZ made is from heart data, and hearts are connected, like how Namine changing Sora's heart memory changed everyone's memory of him. Because Roxas was friends with Hayner's heart data, Hayner's heart knew Roxas.
Not as much changes with KH2 knowing the identity of a certain individual. I thought there would be scenes where we didn't know why he was doing a thing, but would make more sense with hindsight, but surprisingly not. So its hard to know how much they actually know about their own past, or if it was just so far not figured out yet by the writer that no breadcrumbs were left.
Weird Chase didn't know that. Pretty sure he also believed the remix subtitle belongs to the PS3 remakes instead of the japanese only PS2 "definitive editions". I also vaguely remember him not knowing that Re:Chain of Memories was a PS2 remake already. Because he, like many others, complained about CoM getting a playable HD version while 358/2 didn't. Much easier to port an old, already PS2, game. If it was just the GBA title it wouldn't have been playable in 1.5.
Being in the realm of darkness would put you out of balance, that's why the negativity happens, to have balance, you need both light and darkness, to answer the DiZ question.
48:26 Roxas and Riku are both better developed characters than Sora. They also react naturally and realistically to situations and have feelings beyond constant happiness.
Well, I got a fuck you from Monty today. I think KH isn't that confusing IF it were explained in ACTUAL chronological order by someone who just doesn't truck with any of the twists or lies. Just straight up "So this is Xehanort's heartless. He says he's Ansem, he's not.", which wouldn't come up for fuckin' ages because KH1 is like the 7th game or something by now. But yeah, getting it in game release order, it's a mess.
I love how at 1:48:45 Chase just refers to Tifa as “a black-haired girl” (been meaning to make a corrections thread for this for a while, feel free to add)
2:55:00 note, the actual apprentices were xemnas (xehanort), xigbar (braig), xaldin (dilan), lexaeus (aeleus), vexen (even), and zexion (ienzo) as mentioned a few minutes earlier. Axel and Saix did not participate in the experiments nor should we know that they were ever apprentices of Ansem the Wise because they only joined shortly before everyone became nobodies
2:59:00 Coded originally came out on Japanese flip phones (also while I have not played it myself I’ve heard great things about the actual gameplay of re:coded)
I don't know if it was mentioned in a different comment on the original video, but Coded originally came out on mobile devices in Japan. It was then re:released in America on the DS. And it was one of the WORST games in the series. Chase was right that pretty much the only important stuff happens at the end.
@@ukyoize it's all over the place. One minute you're platforming your way through Traverse Town, then youre running towards the right side of the screen platforming like Megaman fighting the Heartless boss in the same style. Every world had a different gameplay style pretty much. The only one I enjoyed was Hollow Bastion where after playing the game solo, you get Donald and Goofy back. Add in that the command deck and leveling up system is the worst, to me, makes the game feel VERY much a mess. And yes it was a mobile game before getting "remade" or re-released onto the DS, but it really needed more time in the cooker before being put onto the DS.
1:59:02 this was one of the hardest roadblocks during my first playthrough as a kid. Some context. I already had KH1, but I got stuck on Clayton and just couldn't be bothered. So this was the first KH game I beat. I didn't know about "abilities" the game I believe only tells you about them after beating giant nobody as Roxas and young me was too busy celebrating to take that in. Cut to me S T R U G G L I N G with this boss. He was such bullshit. Oh I hated him. He made Clayton appear to be the nothing he really is. It was like 10 hours, over many days, into my struggle I somehow doscover the abilities menu. And I remember being confused as to what they were, but oh well, let's just equip everything. I beat Demyx on my 2nd try. Goofy's special spin was my saviour. You will never understand my appreciation for that move. On another thought if you feel lvl 1 playthroughs are too easy. Play the game as normal and just never equip any abilities. I accidentally discovered the hardest mode as a kid.
I like listening to these alot, I'm learning alot I never really knew, but man I wish there's been about 10% more research before the dump. For example. Coded was a phone game. Recoded is a cutscene collective.
We’ve had questions like this before about Chase! The answer is no I’m afraid. Neil isn’t Smoughtown and Chase isn’t Flaming Shark - appreciate the comment!
"Roxas" is an anagram for "Sora X", and the Nobodies all have x's in their names. Using this, I figured out that Roxas was Sora's Nobody as soon as he was introduced, despite never having played this game. 1. Before you ask, yes, I do want a cookie for being very smart and figuring that out. 2. I wonder who Lae/Eal/Ael is/was?
So should say this now. Even though I’m very late to the party. THE Key blade. Is the one that Sora has. The silver and gold one. It’s it’s own special object. Key blade wielders got the ability to make their own key blades from the one Sora has. So Sora’s chosen one status doesn’t come from having a key blade it’s because he was chosen by that one. It’s why all the other keyblade wielders all have different looking ones.
"After all...who could love a man?" is my absolute favorite line from this video series, Chase is an absolute genius for rolling with that Beast -> Man joke
“Roxas has a consistently bad time” that’s a nice way of putting it.
2:03:30 Technically in Xehanort’s name, if you take the X out and rearrange the letters, it spells “No Heart”
