    I don't have a computer aided drag car, so learning about adjusting suspension is very handy to know, especially from an Aussie, considering this is where we live. Thanks mate appreciate the effort and look forward to more, mono leaf rear and adjustable shocks f&r for the basic guys would be nice.

    Luke, it may not be your thing but your journey over the last few years is really interesting. Plus a muck around Aussie gaining popularity and success in the US makes great watching. Mate, if you don’t want to do the vids, get Haitch to do it. She’s awesome and the young bloke. We have to guess where you are at what time and who with. Cheers mate. Al.

    Have you ever looked into Magna Ride shocks that GM puts on the Camaros and Corvettes? Hypothetically you could have active suspension and set up shocks to ramp independently to control the suspension

    • @motorfab
      @motorfab  Місяць тому +1

      The main issue would be, that the valving in a good drag shock is very very tight to control the separation when you have high horsepower. Way outside the realm of any factory valving.

    2:00 minutes in. Too much stored energy. Found out the hard way that 4 psi less pressure in the front tires can mean the difference between a nice 12 inch wheelie and a bumper dragger. I biffed setting my fronts. I lowered them to what I thought was 28psi (for more roll out because I was fired up on the tree and run no box) and accidentally put them to 24psi and well I still went red because the tires went straight up instead of rolling out.

    My Hg ute never breaks traction, not becasue I've got a motorfab kit in the rear, but because she doesn't have enough power 🤣

    • @motorfab

      Loved the old HKGT series Holden's. They were like trams with the stock six. A mate of mine and his brother were mechanics back the eighties. They did up a 202 with steel crank and rods, four barrel Holley, John Caine manifold and a hot cam. In the HT ute it spun the wheels alrite. Sounded great with a lumpy idle. RIP Dez.

  • @robgigabyte580
    @robgigabyte580 Місяць тому

    My issue was the front had very little uptravel and the rear too stiff. So doing 30 mph and stabbing the throttle it would break loose. Added some travel to the front, softened up the back. No more problem.

  • @alanhow3575
    @alanhow3575 Місяць тому

    I used to have a HT ute with a worked 308 that I built that was very fast when I was a young bloke. That motor used to rev to the moon. People couldn’t believe it was a 308.

  • @Altered76
    @Altered76 Місяць тому

    Just a question. I didn't hear you mention adding weight to enhance traction. I really really am against it personally but wouldn't mind hearing your explanation for doing it. It just doesn't compute to me, people building or buying their dream car finally getting that light weight car, and then stacking hundreds of lbs on the rearend. 🤷‍♂

  • @billbirmingham
    @billbirmingham Місяць тому

    Arent you band aiding the quick front end rise with a second kit when you're not controlling the front end rise with the shock? Wouldn't you be better off to re-valve the shock to better control the lift?

    • @motorfab
      @motorfab  Місяць тому

      Yes that is very true. But I’m running a stock front end with very limited shock options. The fix is a lot of work.

    • @billbirmingham
      @billbirmingham Місяць тому

      @@motorfab I thought between AFCO, Menscer, and Penske that pretty much every shock option was covered. I guess not. Dunno how the Aussies designed their front ends. Maybe a photo or video showing the shock would help make me understand... But, may not be worth the time to explain.

    • @motorfab
      @motorfab  Місяць тому

      The stock front end is very restrictive. Its very hard to even see the shock in there
