  • Mickey Thompson explains the difference between the Baja Boss Mud Terrain and All Terrain Tyres.
    In this video
    Geoff Newick from Micky Thompson has been in the tyre business for over 30 years and compares the two types of tires mainly used in offroad action and explains what the differences are between the AT and MT. Searching for the best all-terrain tyres really come down to the type of 4x4 tyres needed to suit the tracks you tackling.
    The Two 4wds on this video are mud terrain on the Jeep wrangler and All Terrain on the jeep gladiator rubicon. We discuss the detail of the importance of tred pattern in this in-depth 4wd tyre review.

    The ATs in 295/70 on my truck are fantastic. Not a lot of mud around here but in snow, dirt, mud puddles and rocks they've been bulletproof with great grip.

    I have the AT's on my 4Runner. They are pretty quiet on pavement and work very well in mud and off-road. Mine are 285/70/17's so about 34" and with an OME 3" lift I can do fairly well on most terrains. Will be interesting how they work in snow. In the USA Midwest near Chicago we do get a lot of snow and ice. About 5000 miles on them so far...do recommend them highly!

    Those A/T's are bordering on a M/T tyre pattern. For me it would be the A/T's, excellent on road manners but a heap of grip for many off road applications.

      I use the Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs. They are a hybrid all terrain and mud terrain with 18/32 tread depth. They are a beast in mud and snow.

    I have had the 33's A/T's on my 2wd Tacoma for about a year now and I've been able to off road in all conditions, what sold me was the side walls aka side biters, when aired down to 18 psi they're unstoppable, my off road buddies want them now! BEST OFF ROAD TIRE I'VE OWNED TO DATE!!!!

    Just got the a/t’s on my f-250 farm truck. 295/70/17’s, the tires take no prisoners folks. Tried breaking them lose on snowy roads and muddy fields. Only spins in 2wd. Ride is quiet and comfortable too. Better than at3w’s I had but I’ll suffer some gas mileage. I don’t care though because the tire is awesome!!

    Man...I would LOVE if the A/T had a lighter casing for intermediate trail usage. I live in mountainous, curvy Western NC & getting that heavy carcass up to speed on our undulating roads is too much. I had to buy a set of Maxxis Razr's instead. Wanted to buy US made tires but my last set was Risge Grapplers and even that carcass weighed too much.
    Just something to consider.

      In the US they are rated for 50,000 miles. So that would be about 80,000 KM. Have 5,000 miles on my AT's and they look almost new.

      @@4WDTVso what's the difference between the new Legend MTZ and the new Baja boss mt? They are both mud terrain and yeah I can see a little different Center tread and a little different sidewall tread but what's the difference in reality other than those visuals

    • @4WDTV
      @4WDTV  4 місяці тому +1

      @@ronaldrrootiii6040 The Baja Boss is a whole new tyre with many advanced features in compound, tyre design and tread. The traction is in a whole new league. The legend is more of a budget tyre and maybe even a step back from the normal MTZ which is a great Tyree in it's own right, yet still not as good as the Baja Boss.

    • @ronaldrrootiii6040
      @ronaldrrootiii6040 4 місяці тому +1

      @@4WDTV yeah that's kind of what I was thinking. I did watch a video saying that the new MTZ was a little better than the old P3 because of silica compound and slightly more aggressive shoulder lugs. But what's weird is I sent an email directly to Mickey Thompson they actually said the legend MTZ is more extreme of a mud tire for deeper mud and that the Baja boss Mt what's more of an all-around mud tire good on snow and gravel and sand and mud. But I was surprised they actually said MTZ was more extreme just for really deep mud and huge rocks. That was their exact words. So then I was left a little confused still. At this point I figure here comes down to looks so I guess I'll try the new Baja boss Mt
