An ingenious cheap but an intervention with positive results. All brands should integrate these during the production process of their breakbarrels with springs. This would not drastically increase the price and spare the less handy among us from starting this job with fear. I would absolutely not dare with a new riffle, bearing in mind the warranty.
@@springpistonriflefeverlone9611 exactly i mean why not ,? who wants to buy a rifle that needs taking apart as soon as you buy in order to stop spring noise crazy .
@@petercope3263 Good question Peter. The spring noise does not bother me at all. Almost all spring piston rifles come with loose-fitting spring guides. That's just the way it is. A loose fitting spring guide will decrease the life of the spring. When spring vibrates inside of the rifle, just like when you hit a piece of metal and it goes boing. This throws of the harmonics off in the rifle. When you have a tune kit or do a DIY job to arrest the spring after the shot, it smoothes out the harmonics and improves accuracy. If that makes sense?
@@springpistonriflefeverlone9611 yep it does i agree , my only point here is why the heck dont they just put a guide in that fits correctly in the first place considering that you pay good money for a Weihrauch as for someone without the confidence to take these things apart it can be troublesome to say the least .
Thank you 😃👍. Those shims works best with lose spring guides. I actually couldn't get the shim and guide out of the spring after I put it in, lol. No matter, it still worked good. I was getting adverage 725-729 FPS with CPHP 14.3. It kicks like a big magnum, lol. I know that it needs to be broke in, and hopefully it will settle down after that.
had just about all the hw models over a period of 20 years . sold all and bought a couple back . now owner of the 97 and 35 plus the hw45 pistol. all in 0.177. Never had the hw57/50. The big gas ram hw90 is btw great but hard to cock . Really like the 35, just feel good and the 97 is just an accurate rifle but heavy. Funny enough liked the 95 but in full power not on my top 3. Also had tx200 and the older webleys . Tx is great and the older webleys very nice too. Had the Diana 48 in 0.177. tuned by a pro, what a shooter that was. ! Seems that all the young ones only want pcp types..
Wow, Weihrauch needs better quality control. I will eventually buy custom guides for these. Actually after I put the shim in, it would not come out. So I decided to use it as it is, and shoot it. I figured it will eventually ware down, so I can get it out. Until then, I will have fun shooting it.
@@springpistonriflefeverlone9611 hi thanks for this handy tip , you say it would not come back out , how did the rifle sound after you fit it back together did you feel it improved the spring noise , thanks .
@@petercope3263 Not only did it stop the twang, but more importantly it smoothed out the shot cycle and I'm getting a solid 16 FPE with the rifle. This is from a video after putting the shim in shooting with open sights and you can hear the difference🙂👍. ua-cam.com/video/WH5ZWYFnH50/v-deo.html
Hello Sir, Thank you for a great video. Ive just done a similar job on an old BSA Meteor mark 5. It had horrible twang and buzz. With great respect, I know my Meteor isnt your Luxus 95, I just wanted to see if I could improve it. I used a Red Bull piece of tin instead of the plastic bottle you used. I thought it maybe more robust and last longer. My mod was slightly different. My Meteor had a poor, loose fitting spring guide. I turned a piece of delrin bar into a tight fitting spring guide on a wood turning lathe. The sleeve from the Red Bull tin was to sleeve inside the piston. However, it was tight and I removed it. I havent shot it yet, it isnt cocking properly and I dont know why. I will have to investigate and see if I can remedy this problem. May I also say please, I too find this very aggravating, how we go out and buy brand new air rifles that straight away need fettling and making work better. We pay goid money and should have top kit and not start having to get our tool boxes out. Thank you.
Thank you for the great question Greg. The R9 is sold through "Air Venture" and the HW95 Luxus is solid by other distributors like AoA. Both are exactly the same rifle.
_Hahaha the extra coat metaphor got me scratching my head 😁_ I don't remember if you talked about it in an other videos but did you try the pop can (metal) version?
All this mod will do is stop the back end coils from actually working at all, reduction in power is all this will achieve... spring guides need to have a clearance gap so it's a sliding fit inside the spring.
Sorry Mickey Mouse 🐀 you are wrong. It actually works really good. I'm getting a solid 19 FPE from my HW80 22 and my HW95 Luxus 22, with 17 FPE, with a solid thud when I shoot them and accuracy has improved. BTW have you looked inside of my rifle's when I shoot them? Yeah I didn't think so🤔.

Thank you. It would be nice if Weihrauch made guides that fit the springs.

Very nice collection you have 🙂👍. I have 0 PCP's and not really interested, maybe a 35 caliber PCP for a survival gun.
Nice work Chuck. I bought a guide and top hat for my 95k but the original guide was so tight i couldnt remove it from the spring!
