- Greenhouse tour and then some - Mikes a friend who just got a new greenhouse, he is a both collector of many things and owner/founder of MARKET. In todays episode we take a look at his plant collection both in and out of his new Costco greenhouse as well as discuss the cross sections of horticulture, street wear and the art world. He started collecting just a bit before the Covid-19 quarantine and has gone head first into the world of Ariocarpus, Asrophytum, Fokea and frankly tons of other cacti and succulents. We also take a look at some of his art collection at the MARKET headquarters, the scene of the legendary PPA events. Enjoy ✨🌵✨

THE QUEST CONTINUES......
I love the greenhouse tours ❤ 🌵
Same! 😅
Obsessed with these!
I will never have enough greenhouse tours. I love this content, casual conversations, taking inspiration from others to improve my greenhouse, interesting specimens and learning staging and pottery too! Cultivation is clearly therapeutic, but also the surrounding community, sharing stories, experiences and knowledge it is a fundamental part of it.
I don't even bother trying to explain why cacti fascinate me. They did when I was a kid and now I'm in 50s and they still do. I'm envious of y'all over there on the west coast. There's so many collectors and cactus societies. You have a lot of opportunity to acquire plants. You also have a lot of potters who make pots for cacti and succulents. We don't have that over here on the east coast. You really need to see a pot first hand to decide if its one you want. In my region, on the most part cacti are an indoor hobby. Having a greenhouse would be challenging and expensive to heat. I used to work in a nursery. So I know. I'm not going to try to set up a hot house. Its cheaper and easier to set up some lights in a room in my house.
I'm in Michigan and I have a small collection. But I'm happy with what I have inside my home. I put them all outside during the summer months!!
@@michellechapman6839 I've been putting my cactus plants outside in the summer but that has caused many of them to die from black spot and root rot. This year I'm keeping my grafts indoors and the tall columnars under the eves of the house.
Definitely need this on the east coast.
So excited for this new Cactus Quest video!
✨🌵✨☮️✨
What an amazing amazing tour, and even more amazing conversation. Thank you for doing this!
My pleasure - glad you enjoyed. More to come! ✨🌵✨
Loved this episode, definitely gonna start my greenhouse this spring.
Love that! Right on brotha.
Also one of those people who ran 100 miles a minute, and now I’m backtracking. I don’t regret it all, but most of my spare time has to go into educating myself, building a greenhouse and resisting the urge to keep buying. Not doing the best with the latter 😬 Grateful for guys like Hunter, sharing their experiences and making info easier to find.
Great segment Hunter. The tour, plants, artwork, philosophical and historical conversation. Feeds one's 🌵 addiction!
Thanks John!
Casually dropping the Daniel Johnston original 12:51 😍

I live in south texas and I go cactus hunt but I've searched far and wide and found different echinocereus, Echinocactus, lophs, thelocactus, but never found astrophytum asterias, but recent I bought some that are grown from wild seed and they're beautiful I much more like the look of the natives over the cultivated ones.
I’m with you. There’s cool cultivars for sure but I def prefer true species - something about the success against all odds that the true species have. They connect me w the desert when I’m not there
This was so cool, thankyou!
Loved the plant tour and the conversation. 🌵🌵
Thanks for the amazing greenhouse tour and some great stories.
Beautiful collection, mindset, and thoughts shared!
Thank u✨🤝
you should do a tour of your greenhouse id love to see all your awsome cacti, love the videos!
This is exactly what I needed
i hope one day you'll be able to come to south america for greenhouse tours!! i'm sure you could find collectors here on this level who would be willing to do tours and interviews. one of the largest cacti and suculent focused stores in latin america is located in brazil, so you'll probably find lots of collectors and such
Eventually, I would love to do that
I love Japan and succulents
Great video. Your graphic and interview skills have grown to a new level. Thanks for your time to share with us.
I appreciate that! Thanks Bill
Amazing video, thanks for sharing another fantastic tour !! Have a nice Sunday bro 🏜

@@CactusQuest I've been out here repotting trichocereus all afternoon enjoying one of our first warm days of the year. I think I'm gonna start posting pictures on Instagram, I want you to see some of the stuff I've got growing 🤓
Green house tour!! People don’t understand it takes some money to do these things you do to help enable us junkies and we thank you! Def going to check your site! Gonna drop you website info, too. My husband started a web building and marketing biz 20 years ago and he’s used nationally. This would be a project to help you with. I’d love to see you succeed!
mike n ash is cool
Great great video! I especially love the sculpture with the real spines, I have been keeping spines and pieces of cactus to do just this! The cactus are already sculptural when alive, dead they’re still beautiful. Same with the teeth rim of agaves ! Imagine embedding a row of teeth along the rim of a pot 😍
He have some awesome cacti! Great place!🌵♥️
Yes, thanks
NEW SUB. I'd love to grab some custom pots. I want to just in the cactus game strong 😂
Yo aprecio mucho tus videos y me encantan. Pero no hagas tus videos cuando manejas! Por tu seguridad y los de los demás.
Both of Mikes collections (plants/art) are beyond on point.
I can't wait to buy plants from you!🌵🌴🌵
Man I'd love to buy some of your seedlings!!!
Thank you! Great tour. As a guy who went to art school then took a side road and got a PhD in psychology and along the way collected and nurtured cacti and other cool plants - definitely could relate. Nice collections and path/journey you’ve shared here. ✨💛✨
Really dig the ceramic memorial to the cactus that was on the way out. 😊
Great video! I’ve been to Huntington but did not know about Gary Lyons. So when he died his plants just went uncared for? Did the Huntington not want them? Seems like a sad ending to a long career
He has his personal collection at his house in Burbank. His kids didnt have interest in taking care of his vast plant collection (in ground and potted). The Huntington would have taken them if they had been told, frankly The Huntington as an institution has taken a lot more than it have given back to the people who have contributed to their vast estate.
Hi, what is Dawn hunts website please? Love the pots!
Keep up the great work Mr. Quest, love ur videos
I GOT FIRST MOFO'S 💯
Thanks for posting
You’re welcome
Los cactus y las masetas están hermosos.❤
thank god how did I miss this one!!
What is the best book for beginners to learn about different types of cacti?
go to your local cactus + succulent nursery - speak to the workers or owner. I find people are the biggest wealth of info and willing to teach you what you want to know.
Where did we get the greenhouse from?
I would like a pot 😁😁😁😁

Hell yeah 🎉🎉
HELL YEAH Big fan of MARKET's stuff, and as a self-employed designer for the last decade good to see people out there being successful doing it their own way AND making time to grow. Keep at it and cheers to another four years, for people like me there's inspiration in everyone's journey
Daniel Johnston, I see we have a man of culture here.
Some more videos on making pots would be awesome to see.
