Overwatch 2 - A New Era

- thanks aaron
The age of Kaplan is over. The age of Keller has come.
Started this just after Jeff quit (reee), was just gonna be the whole song at first but it was taking too long and was struggling with the lyrics, so sorta gave up. But managed to salvage it into this video in time for the OW2 release. Despite all the negativity, the game will probably be fine, a standard F2P affair, but the new dev updates are not very good for editing and it's been like 5 years of this shit now so... Could this be the last video? Might make more vids around OW2 but no promises. The channel limps on. Does anyone even care at this point? Cya next year!

I hope Jeff knows that he is legitimately missed.
This genuinely feels more emotional than anything Blizzard could've ever made
Blizzard doesn't bother with emotions or how their players feel, they just want the dollars
I'm actually tearing up
True
Yeah all the short films from
Overwatch are bad. You people are spoiled brats.
blizzard Literally made the game.
@dinoflask (Aaron) - Dunno if you ever knew this but the Overwatch 1 Team + Jeff used to watch your videos every time they came out, in the little central office cinema inside the studio in the OW area. We loved em, we always loved hearing Jeff say the random stuff you made him say and each time they got a round of applause.
Thanks for making the golden age we were in back then that extra little bit special
Much love, Clarke. Thanks for being a part of one of my favorite games of all time 💜
I hope this is real because it's so wholesome
This is so awesome. Hope it can one day be recreated in whatever new game Jeff decides to delve in...
@@umplayful not true, they just happen to share names.
Boy, this one's gonna be an awkward screening.
"It's because he wasn't hitting his weekly sexual assault targets" holy fuck lmao
Thank you for all the Jeff vids, they truly were a stalwart constant during happier times
So sad that this joke lands only because Blizzard has/had such a huge problem with sexual assault within their company.
@@d4mephisto Tragically true.
@@d4mephisto Yeah. Something that isn't nearly talked about enough.
Who is this 90,000 year old boomer. is this actually the guy? jeff vids were amazing bro i mean sir
wait.. was he also one of the assaulters..?
by the time this yearly upload goes public i'll be in the middle of nowhere with no internet access. if anyone watches this, thanks for watching! in the spirit of overwatch 2, I've finally enabled the "Thanks" button so you can give me money, if you're so inclined. wow! it's what jeff would have wanted. maybe.
Will you YTP the Fantastic Four movie since Jeff Kaplan is writing it?
Thank you for your service O7
I was so scared you may have finally left us like Jeff did 🥺
based
wait u need to pay for new heroes??????!!!! wtf okay nvm but you need to grind a lot asked on an german discord xD
"It starts with Doomfist being a tank but it ends up with Keller, in a tank, outside of your house". What a masterpiece, well played, dinoflask!
Demanding to see your Overwatch 2 preorder.
honestly tho, my favorite line
Problem?
Absolutely brilliant 🤣
Blaming everything on Keller lacks nuance and negates the overt corporate practices Blizzard have now been emphasising more and more; people forget Kaplan, as brilliant as he was, made a lot of mistakes, including mistakes present in the development of Overwatch 2 that still exist today - Keller has largely just fulfilled what Kaplan wanted.
That meaningful pause after "This is Jeff..." You'll always be from the Overwatch team in our hearts
I died when instead of sustaining the note, Kaplan sang “I did it, um, y’know, my way”😂😂😂
metaphorically*
Hearing Jeff's voice again felt so surreal yet so natural. I forgot how badly I missed him
Same....
I miss him
Jeff worked hard that’s for sure
Hurr durr, I wonder what happens to an IP when the LEAD is ousted. Among other great takes like, "Hey maybe Activision won't consume Blizzard's soul".
God I know it’s fake but just hearing Kaplan’s take on this leaves me with so much joy
It feels like saying goodbye to a friend after highschool or something :(
@@merucrypoison296 more like an uncle or something's funeral. :( He felt like family even if he didn't know any of us.
What are you talking about, That was 100% real and a man has actually died.
imagine u r a public figure that cant say something publicly, but you have a very strong opinion on. u message a youtuber and pay him to deepfake you saying the things you want to say, publish the fake and say - its fake, i didnt say it. its fake. But somehow you kinda did and it warms ur heart.
maybe Jeff would like to trash the new ow2 direction for real, but he cant
maybe Ian McKellen wants to trash rings of power - now he watches his deepfake doing it and maybe feels happy
@@poopingducks funny thing im also a gamedesigner. Not of that caliber sadly tho.
'Based on your feedback, we've taken some time to rethink Overwatch 2, with the singular goal of ensuring that we let you down when it comes to delivering Overwatch content'.
The vision for PVE announced in 2019 died tonight - I came for memes, not prophecies, goddammit.
I'm glad you're still around dinoflask. In these trying times for the ow community seeing you uploaded a video really brings a smile to our faces.
Brazy dickeating
The series finale. I'm as devastated as Jeff's island base.
Honestly, Aaron being a rogue ai makes a bit of sense
He’s gonna be the finale boss of the pve game mode
A very pretty shade of rouge, too.

We were gonna make an Overwatch 2 video, but this is it. The best Overwatch 2 video.
For the love of Jeff and all that is holy please still make an Overwatch 2 video. My wife loves you guys!
I would love an Overwatch video by you guys too even if the pve isn't out yet. It's so much fun now I hope they fix all the technical issues soon
Your Overwatch 2 video reminded me that this video exists, so I came back to watch it,
forgot what I was doing before, zoned out and scrolled down to the comments, and here you are to remind me that I was watching your Overwatch 2 video.
That is some god-tier viewer retention right there.
@@StandardGaming HAHAHA This is the best. I just finished watching their video today and now you brought me back to the comment section of this video. Infinite loop
I felt more in this Dinoflask video than I have consuming any official Overwatch story.
Overwatch "story"
Jeff Kaplan singing 'My Way' has done more to remind me of my previous love for Overwatch than anything official in the last 3 years, respect, Sir.
I hope Jeff sees this and sheds a tear.
Hi evryone im Jeff from the Overwatch Team, i am drinking all of you guys tears in the comments
aged like a fine wine
Just watching this again while reading the announcement of the in-depth PVE content - pretty much the only major selling point of OW2 - being scrapped.
Such a beautiful sendoff for Jeff, we miss him dearly (and top-notch editing as always, thank you for your hard work)
All we got from Jeff was a short cryptic letter, I'm glad we finally get some clarity on the situation.
who is here after ow2 pve is cancelled?
Here! XD
HE PREDICTED THE FUTURE 😭😭😭😭
Jeff. Not the hero we deserved, but the hero we needed.
Why people going to ignore that the balance changes under him eventually led to millions and millions of people leave the game?
@@Aeeeoi Exactly. Jeff might be a nice guy and all, but those stretched out balance changes pleased no one. In fact practically everything they vocally said they enjoyed turned out to be the things players hated the most. I'm looking at you 2CP.
@@TheGiantBunnysaid Exactly.
Jeff might be more of a good idea guy and not the best guy long term for a game.
People want to say the lack of content killed the game, no, all the stuns and shields killed the game. You could see less and less people start playing as they introduced a new character that either had a stun or a shield or...BOTH. Like, they were giving people new heroes and still declining. Whose wise idea was it to give a support hero a stun and shield? Seriously?
The game became hand holding around a chokepoint for minutes at a time. That got boring. How many of the people that streamed Overwatch still do so today? Only people that liked that are the low skill support players that didn't know how to deal with flanking and enjoyed hand holding around a choke point while being heal bots.
Ok, now how many people that stream Valorant or CS:Go still do so today? Yeah.
The game got boring. Adding new maps to do the same dance wasn't going to improve it.
Adding more heroes that were going to either stun lock you to death or throw up some newly shaped shield wasn't going to help it.
At the end of the day, the game started to decline because the gameplay failed it and that is on Jeff.
Hes the hero we have to unlock by winning 20 quickplay matches
He ruined the game with others.
His intentions were great, delivery was utterly bad. Hes responsible for so many bad heros and boring metas. I cant help but deny that he was a good leader in the gaming industry.
He was formal tho and a really nice guy.
This genuinely filled my heart with joy. Edited or not, seeing Jeff like this one last time is just what I needed before heading into OW2. Thank you Dinoflask.
>Actually selling your soul by playing OW2
I love how before each new verse, he sounds like he's on the verge of tears. So emotional
Glad that even with all the AI voice conversion stuff going on nowadays you’re still doing it the old fashioned way ❤️
Glad you’re still going strong. While Jeff Kaplan was considered the head of OW for all of us, you were the next person who really made it a funny experience
nah
Let's not forget Dinoflask is like 90% chance was Kaplan.
@@krounos1 I never thought of that 😮
Which is why people let him get away with running OW into the ground and completely destroying it momentum
Weekly sexual assault targets is probably the most hilariously horrifying phrase Dino has ever created.
Jeff singing My Way in the only way he could, gasps for air and gulps and stutters in between, is so perfect. You've brought us wonderful entertainment for years, dinoflask. Thank you for everything!
This aged all too well...
Damn it😢
He knew what was going to happen. :(
Holy shit, Jeff’s part took me back to the old times with him. I miss him so much, it’s so sad to not see him anymore. I hope he is well. It’s absolutely understandable that he left the mess that is overwatch 2.
I love it when writers bring back season 1 characters.
Lmao
This video has never been more relevant
8 months later and this story is still developing in ways we couldn't even imagine
You know everything is turning back to normal when dinoflask is posting
I sure hope so
You know everything is going wrong when he makes a once in a life time comeback with Jeff Kaplan once again in the limelight
Um. No. He's doing basic bitch tier humor. Thank goodness I never subbed to this channel.
What? Normal? Did you watch the video? Have you been following Blizzard for the last 2 years?
It's looking like the final video to mark the end of Overwatch bruh
When we most needed him - legend returned
I got super worried with the "jeff died" fakeout at the end. Glad to see him still alive under the rubble. I really hope this continues at some point.
Every day his warning proves truer than ever
"Jeff was caught in his office drinking rum and aggressively tugging at his penal region" 😂😂😂
Your finest work.
I know it's only for the funnies but my god is it good to hear Jeff talk so candidly lmao. Thanks for all you've done Dino, you helped make the experience of OW1 a lot more entertaining.
I had more fun with your vids than any modern comedy, even tho I played Overwatch very briefly. Thank you.
*”When the world needed [dinoflask] most, he vanished”*
This aged Brilliantly
Thank you dinoflask. Truly one of the content creators of all time.
Out of all the content creators, dinoflask is definitely one of them
You gotta appreciate Jeff being up for a challenge. He could have ran over those Mei cosplayers with a modern day Mustang, a car built for mowing down crowds with so many assist features it would be easy mode. But he went Classic Cadillac, a timeless classic that also puts all the control in your hands with no help. Absolute respect.
Wait did he actually run people over, or was that just a meme?
@@ReptillianStrike It's just the bit in this video. He didn't do that IRL
@@Cyndustries_ thats what Blizzard wants you to belive
Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.
Such a great way to look at things.. Not just overwatch but there's always these situations of "You didn't know they're the good old days until they become the good old days" and what you're saying is absolutely true. If only that was the default reaction though
I know Jeff is somewhere watching this with a smile on his face :')
[Jeff suppresses a wry chuckle at the memory of the bodies rolling over the hood of his vintage 1956 Cadillac]
"Irvine Cali(almost cracks)fornia"
Thank you for all the laughter over the years. Incredible work on this video. This was the one good thing about the launch of Overwatch 2.
Watching this again now, 9 months later.. This hits the feels man, beautiful work
We need a new video stat!
I love Jeff being the hero trying to hijack the transmission to inform us. The way he left us without a developer diary to say goodbye... It just felt bad.
Genuinely nice to see Jeff back, despite the fact it’s a meme video, despite the fact that it’s not meant to be taken seriously, this really has been the end of Jeff’s era, and so this video is in a way Jeff’s true way of saying goodbye, one final time.
Jeff did try to warn us. It is on us for not listening this time.
I was smiling from the beginning of the video, but when the "My Way" rendition dropped, I started chuckling, then was laughing out loud. Some of the lines are genius, in addition to the excellent editing.
Aged like wine
This is a great sendoff. Thanks for the laughs, Dinoflask. I know a lot of us share the same sentiments where we can joke, and laugh about it, but it does feel like the end of something we enjoyed. OW2 may end of being a perfectly fun game, but the feeling behind it is so different that it's not going to connect with people the same way OW1 did. It's been fun, everyone.
The feelings behind it come from you, man. Be optimistic and open, and you'll get out of it what you put in. As a long time fan I'm nothing but excited
@@kendallcoombs9551 The feelings about it are muddied by the multibillion $ earnings Acti/Blizz gets every year and it's still not enough. Also by the fact that new heroes won't be available without ~60 hrs of gaming through the battle pass or you pay money. Even waiting until the season is over doesn't mean you can play the hero for nothing. In a role focused game like OW where counter picking is important, this inherently makes the playing field unfair. It's perfectly reasonable to be disappointed and frustrated with how things are going to be and it's got nothing to do with being "optimistic and open". I've played Acti/Blizz games for 20 years. The last OG Blizz devs that had influence and power to advocate for players rather than money are gone and it's very telling.
@@TheSwauzz this is exactly how I feel. Keller is the last of the OG team. I want to give him benefit of the doubt, and assume he's just there because he wants to see through to the end, but clearly he doesn't have enough influence to keep the monetization fully at bay. It feels like is past the time where it was a team of people trying to create a world for others to enjoy, and now it's just an established IP for a company to profit from. The PvE may prove there's still hope, but I'm not going to get my hopes up and risk disappointment.
@@kendallcoombs9551 Lmao, being THAT optimistic after what we've seen from these greedy mofos is just being naive.
We should have listened…
the amount of emotion this makes me feel is unreasonable
We need you now more than ever Jeph.
Jeff didn't impact pvp he had the team focus on pve
Jeff was very good but the way he saw overwatch wasn't going to help the game make big bucks
@@TheBest1972 Even though Overwatch was making money hand over fist. XD
@@jamesandrews5629 Making money at the first year is common, but what about 2020, 2021 and most of 2022? The game was dead, boring to play, and nobody was buying anything bro. You got to think about how to make money especially being a pvp game
@@TheBest1972 Yeah and given Blizzard's track record (Diablo: Immortal) It's to bleed people dry of their wallets a la EA.

The feels. I haven't touched OW i so long now but this showed up in my feed. I remember getting excited every time you posted a new video, but also whenever OW had an update. Time keeps flowing and the world keeps changing. The future can hold new exciting things, but for me, OW2 is not one of them for me. Big hug to the community.
the intro to this still tracks :sigh:
I hope you'll come back one last time for the PvE news
This video really highlights how Jeff looked genuinely hyped about his game and wanted to make it enjoyable for the players. He's the kind of guy who says things like "So there's like a cool tank and, um, we think you'll have a ton of fun trying different team compositions to capitalize on that".
Meanwhile, Aaron has the typical cold "corporate" facade with a permanent smile that makes it clear his main focus is making the game profitable. He's the kind of guy who says things like "We realize that we let you down, and promise to deliver more in the future. It is our goal to make a game that you guys will love."
I don't mean to hate on Aaron but that's really how I interpret his body language. Both Jeff and him look somewhat tense, but not for the same reason. Jeff looks a little shy, while Aaron looks uncomfortable due to being forced to appear positive and friendly.
It's his "customer service" mask, yeah.
Amazing as always! Overwatch had flaws but it will definitely be missed.
This is so perfect and hilarious. What’s best about it is that Jeff is probs gonna watch this, hey Jeff! Cheers for all your hard work dude, hope life’s treating you good, stay safe 🧡🤍
