  • How to Hand Sew a Hidden Stitch or Invisible stitch
Let us start to learn how to hand sew a hidden stitch or invisible stitch. Hidden stitch is used to sew when you don't want to make the stitches visible.
In this video Invisible stitch is used to reduce the height of the pant without leaving the stitch mark. First fold the pant according to your size then make the hidden stitches. Hidden stitch is also used in many purposes.

For the doubters, this is NOT the same as a pick stitch...I did a pick stitch on black pants w white thread (all I could find) and you can see the white, even tho it's small. I retried w this stitch and when you pull it back through, the white completely disappeared! So it's not just some longer way of doing a pick. I can't tell you why but something about the tension makes it truly invisible. Well worth it!

Very good video as you moved slowly enough to see how and where to move or put the needle. I found after a few stitches, the thread tended to knot. So I decided to make the first loop and then just following the last step. Success.

The loops seem to be UNNECESSARILY complitating it, i (being a needle) could just as well poke back into the hole i just came out of, of course on my way back INTO the fabric (being the needle) I could never perfectly pass through the exact opening of the hole i just came out of, therefore it WORKS without the LOOPING, right 😅😅? Hope im Not smoking my socks.

How is this different in the end from a pick stitch? Why don't you just do a pick stitch? Seems like this just adds the step of making loops and then pulls the loops out at the end. It looks cool but isn't it a waste of time?

    • @sewberry93
      @sewberry93  2 роки тому +8

The stitches are little bit visible in pick stitch. That's why i did it with invisible stitch. If you want you can do this with pick stitch also.

Exactly! This is just a fancy , time consuming way of doing something that can be done easily. Quite gimmicky imo but I have seen many such videos on Pinterest and it does seem interesting at first so I won't blame the creators.

The problem with taking up hems like that is, when you put you foot through it, you toes get caught on the end. There are better ways off taking bottoms up.

Lol, No. that cannot possibly be such a serious PROBLEM 😁😅 just a TINY inconvenience versus a huge advantage during the hard work of sewing - being able to sew from the OUTSIDE with instant alignment feedback rather than the inside. just wiggle your foot slowly as you push through the opening.

A few notes from trying this:
    - if you're like me and never bother waxing your thread, wax your thread for this one
I'm pretty sure the 2 main things that make this more effective than a pick stitch is 1)stitch length and 2)tension
    1) for me at least, its easier to make smaller stitches for this
    2) I'm pretty sure the tension pulls those couple of threads in the stitch a little, and that's why you don't see the thread, now, that being said:
    - you might want to go in short sections before pulling the thread, especially if you can't get to the underside of your stitch for whatever reason
    - this probably isn't great for looser weaves, as it's more obvious that it pulls the threads of the fabric
(In case anyone is interested - i tested it out on a light weight muslin, and am using it to add ribbon to the outside of a buckram hat. The need to use tension ended up pulling and scrunching the ribbon, so I'm not using this stitch for this project, but it does seem like it would work on thicker/sturdier fabrics)
