    I just purchased a '24 300SX. It is my first new bike ever, and it is still sitting in my garage, unridden after about two weeks! I've been taking my time going over everything, making sure all fluids are present and in the correct amounts, and reading the service manual and owner's manual. It's only new once, and I hesitate to throw it in the dirt. But then why have a dirt bike if its not going to get muddy! Thanks for the video, and I'll look to order that Nihilo separate start/stop button asap.

      Mine sat for almost two weeks! You don't ride anywhere around Las Vegas without a skid plate and pipe protection. The factory skid plate was "out of stock" everywhere when I first got the bike. I ended up finding what I needed at AOMC. Not always the best prices but they have had everything I've been looking for so far. For KTM AOMC is usually a little better than Rocky Mountain ATV. Found my OEM 2011 450SX-F radiator shrouds there when everywhere else I looked said discontinued. They are no longer made by KTM. Pretty good shipping times as well. Coming up on 30 hours. Bike has ran great so far! The first scratch is devastating! Lol! Thanks for watching and commenting!

    When KTM put all the tech in the two strokes I thought it would be game over. I have heard mostly good things about the new two strokes. Surprisingly little bad. Glad you are liking yours.

      Thanks AZ! I have recently discovered that the cylinder is not Austrian made. It has KYMCO cast into it which is a Taiwanese company! In the past the engines and transmissions have always been European made. I haven't heard anything bad about KYMCO but I was really disappointed that KTM has started to out source their cylinders! Don't know if this was just a temporary thing to meet production demands? If this is their new business model and they are going to expand their outsourcing of engine and transmission parts there's not much reason for me personally to buy KTM, Husqvarna or Gas Gas again. The bike does run amazingly well!

      KYMCO makes good quality stuff. They also produce some engines for BMW (I believe all of the parallel twins). I do recall reading that some of the KTM Elko produced cylinders had some issues for the 2023 model year while the Kymco produced ones were fine. @@peteregger7928

    The 24 XCW's still get the full toolkit, strange the XS does not. Don't forget the SX has a 5 speed vs. 6 speed XCW or XC. Front forks on those bikes (XC and XCW's) are also closed cartridge and are super. XCW has a super high output stater with a LED headlight, and skid plate, see through 3.2 gal tank...just to point out some differences if people are shopping. Beautiful bike. Glad it's doing great for you.

      It's been running great! Just some minor annoyances with some of the ergonomics. This is my 4th KTM since 2011 and the best so far! My understanding is that the XC-W has been detuned about 5 horsepower to make it more trail friendly? I'm okay with the extra 5hp on my SX! My 2008 KX500AF built by Service Honda is still the horsepower king! The newer 450's are getting closer every year though! Been going back and forth for a lot of years on the 2 stroke vs 4 stroke thing. Advantages and disadvantages for both but overall it's 2 stroke for me these days! Thanks for commenting!

    You probably want to change the water pump impeller. I noticed the TPI models were plastic and very low flow. I bought one from slavins and I was very impressed. Very easy mod.

    • @peteregger7928
      @peteregger7928  7 місяців тому

      I heard some people having trouble with the plastic. I have a 2011 450SX-F with the plastic impeller with over 800 hours on the bike and it's still going! Haven't even had the valve cover off yet! No clicking, clacking , or smoking and it still starts right up! I think I have been very lucky with that one!

    Your axle lock nut is not tight enough, The right side will pull backwards during hard riding. It's in turn gives slack to the set net. And it can back out and loosen

      I torque it to 65-70 ftlbs. I guess I'll keep cranking on it! I suspect that initially the adjuster block does not sit square against the adjuster screw head which also contributes to it? Whatever is going on it's annoying!

    How do you find the SX in the slower going? Does it lug well in the white map and is the gearing low enough to make it a good show trail bike when the situation calls for it? Thanks!

    • @peteregger7928
      @peteregger7928  9 місяців тому +2

      I've had no issues in the slow stuff and the white map makes a noticeably difference in power management. It's subtle but you will experience reduced fatigue and arm pump when on the gas. The 2024 SX still has air forks so if you know you'll be running slower more technical stuff just run a little less air. If you're running higher speeds on the desert floor or track just add a little. This is my first experience with air forks. Maybe in past model years KTM didn't quite get it right but after about 10 hours of break-in this is the best off the showroom floor suspension I have experienced. Not at first though! It needs break-in time!

    Do you ride track? Reason I ask is I’m curious if you’ve had any kind of bog, or where it will randomly not take throttle for a bit. It’s usually with aggressive track riding..

    • @peteregger7928
      @peteregger7928  3 дні тому

      No, I'm desert only. One of my riding buddies has the same exact bike and another the Husky version of the XC. None of us so far have had any issues. Pump gas at 50:1 instead of 60:1 because of the higher sustained speeds compared with most track riding. Have you tried using the "dongle" to recalibrate the power valve? Also, I've heard that some of the bikes throttle position sensor settings can be off from the factory but these things I don't think would be random? Almost sounds like a loose connector or wiring issue?

    • @mark_Hershey
      @mark_Hershey 3 дні тому

      @@peteregger7928 yea, per ktm customer service even did a top end and scrubbed power valves(supposed to do a top end every 15hr..lol,seriously), stripped and checked harness, replaced fuel pump, ccps twice, i adjusted the tps to .4,recalibrated, dealer downloaded new map, checked for codes…nothing. Bike runs incredible, best ktm i ever had. But there is this random bog/hesitation thing. Theres a handful of tbi’s that suffer, one on facebook has a broken collar bone, ton of 125’s suffer but they are the most likely to be on a track as there are lots of 125 classes. I joined multiple facebook groups to try and find a solution and I’m running my story threre as well as the major forums. 2 dealers said they cant fix it and ktm said they need to recreate the issue hooked up to a computer, which is almost possible for a dealer without racking up huge time at $130/hr. The fact they locked us out of the ecu makes it next to impossible for us to repair. My theory is it’s got to do with the power valve servo, constant on off throttle like a supercross track and glitch keeping it from opening briefly. This has been going on for almost 2 months, surfacing at 25hr and now have 45. Last Sunday it slightly bogged on a small double crashing me, broke 2 ribs and lacerated spleen.
