70hrs already on my 24 te 300. My only real issue is the fuel range / tank. You’re not wrong. We regularly do afternoon rides if 50-60 miles. Bike is empty between 40-50. I’ve been stuck carrying gas most of the time. My 2nd little gripe is the kick stand. It works fine, but the stupid spring is right where you want to put your toe to deploy it. Love the fueling / mapping (besides excessive fuel use) haven’t fouled a plug ever. Love the chassis / suspension.
Like thee review, the TPI had the same prob with getting to the spark plug, trick is to just lift the tank up and to the side to get to the plug, you don't need to take it off.
In order to lift the take any amount, don't you need to remove the bolt under the seat? Meaning you're still removing the same number of bolts, just not disconnecting fuel line?
I just stumbled across your channel and loving the single trail content without music and your commentary is spot on .A normal bloke riding with no dribble
I really really want the 24 TBI XCW but I really love the fact that my Beta is still carburated and I can change the plug on the fly without taking everything out. Also the seat comes off with the push of a button !!!
I hear ya, but honestly they are far enough along now in the efi stages that I don’t worry anymore. First couple years with the tpi I did. But I had no issues with my tpi, and so far the tbi has ran great!
Completely agree with you on the switches and rad cap. I also hate that they didn't include the map switch and its in the mild map by default. Also, I'm sure KTM's cost on a fan is like $40. The harness is right there. Add a fan on your XCW model!
Mine started "running out of gas" any time I had less than 1/3 tank. Then it got worse and sometimes going over a rise it would quit, or anytime I hit a whoop section it dies right at the other side. I think it's the fuel pump and I finally ordered one in at $300. Picking it up this weekend. Pulled my hair out for months, but fuel pressure test shows a slight drop in pressure under throttle. 2023 300XC tbi. 72 hours.
@@joshawaburns1 I think some of them just came with a bad fuel pump from the factory. Fuel sloshing around is not the issue, I ride pretty much nowhere smooth lol. Lots of others are having the same issue as well. Very untrustworthy at the track when a stall on a jump face could really mess up your day. I raced that bike last weekend and filling the tank absolutely full between motos kept it from stalling. No time to replace and test new fuel pump, setting up new bike and cutting singletrack all March and April.
I have this bike too, but I don’t have many hours on it. From everything I’ve learned and experienced so far, I agree with all your points. Great bike but a few things are real dumb.
I have a 2023 150 xcw, and I wouldn't trade it even up for a 2024. Another issue is the 24/25 do not have the heavier black plastic supports in the center of the flag hand guards where the add on bar end guards mount. And having a 150, 23 still has the backup kick starter.
I've seen forum posts about people trying this and all of them said that the pump is not strong enough to bring the fuel up through the longer tube unfortunately.
We need to get you a wireless mic for the garage. It's nice to see you are really stretching to find the top 5 things because that means that is one amazing bike, which we already know it is... Best bike I've ever owned by far. The 2024 XCW is the absolute best two stroke enduro bike ever built by any company, period.
I have a ‘24 300xc. For the fuel tank, there are big sized replacements you can get and I think there are new fuel pick ups or mods on the way to get to the lower parts of the tank. The only thing that really annoyed me about my stock bike was the hand guards. Have replaced those with the KTM factory wrap around guards. Much better.
As far as the plug failing goes, if you change to the Iridium type, things will be much better. Example- BR8EIS. If your bike runs a little on the richer side at 0-1/8 throttle. Go to the BR7EIS.
Just got my first ktm ever ( had huskys) . Immediate things noticed. F*** the start/kill switch.. It's tall..like to tall for me . Short turn radius. Choke is hard to access(myn doesnt even work). Fuel is another..but the suspension is AMAZING
Haha I hear you on the start/stop switch! Yes the pds is just a smidge higher then the linkage huskys. But I run about 115 for sag and bout the same as my old bike now. Also have the lower seat.
Watched a video on the new 2025 husky the other day and surprise surprise his big complaint was the fuel pick up and lack of range, I myself own a 98 husky wr360 and that far back with an 11ltr tank my complaint was that the lack of fuel range, the last ltr in the tank you couldnt access and having to remove the seat and tank to change a spark plug. So if KTM are persisting with these design flaws for 2025 and have been lowering the range over the last 25yrs or so, I cant see them listening or correcting this anytime soon
KTM also removed the manual powervalve adjuster down near the water pump cover on the right side of the motor. And the tuneability of adjusting when your powerband hits is extremely important to me. And my 24’ Beta does NOT have this problem… I’m currently running the red softest powervalve spring with no inner spring and man my Beta just hits like a FREIGHT TRAIN!!!
I’m surprised about the fouled plug, my carb bike is jetted as good as it can get and I never foul plugs. TBI should be perfect, maybe too lean and you burn one up if anything.
Yes spark plug swaps suck, also went back to BR7ES plug, fuel pump and pick up are at the upper rear of the tank sitting in a well so you have to slosh the fuel around to get it up to the pump well. Taco moto has come out with an adapter that couples to the pump and extends the pick up down to the lowest point in the tank. I grew to hate the multi start stop switch and quickly went back to the separate early switches, much more positive feel with thicker winter riding gloves and no more accidentally bumping the starter while trying to shut it down.
Enduro Hog sells clutch and ignition cover guards. For the type of riding you are doing you will not have to worry about broken covers or scratches. My 23 300xc has the same fuel tank. Only way to change the spark plug is to pull the seat and tank. Look into Two Strock Performance. They have maps that improve your bikes fuel range and performance. The Acerbis larger fuel tank is 3.2 gallons. Fit and finish is way superior to the IMS brand tank.
I have you had any issues with the motor yet? I hear that they have had issues with the Piston hitting the crank and destroying the motor. I have a 17250xc that has been bullet proof
I was not a fan of all the silver on the GasGas at first… 90 hours of hard enduro later and I think GasGas was really smart by avoiding the fancy black/bronze finishes that KTM and Husky used on the engine, silencer, and wheels.
@@ThrottleNectarIn some places in Europe they're actually advertised as the more "hard enduro" focused of the three bikes. Softer forks, fully aluminum subframe, beefy aluminum cases, less grabby front brake, slightly lower seat...etc. Obviously PDS on the KTM has some advantages on really big obstacles/logs, but most "hard enduro" isn't that.
Just found out KTM is owned by Baja 300 Austrian technicians laid off what the heck is going on? We are told by actual KTM technician they would not touch a KTM anymore with your 10-ft pole KTMs 300 are blowing cylinders off or 2024 Husqvarna was leaking oil so bad out of the shift seal they replaced it twice now. Is this true? Please tell what you know about this
Overall a fantastic bike out of the crate. Like ALL new bikes the rider needs to tune to their specific needs . Im a 58 y/o C+ rider on technical slow terrain. The super smooth and torquey TBI 300 is just perfect for me . I just added a 49T rear sprocket and some softer springs and im just loving the versatility of the 300 W
I have the same bike and I couldn't agree more with the last 2 things you talked about. Thankfully I haven't to change a plug yet. But my first thought was why would they do that? I've been able to easily change the plug on every bike I've ever owned....until now. I also found out about the fuel thing after I bought the bike. Every post about it I've seen just says "well ride harder." I ride pretty fast so it hasn't been an issue, but a lot of people don't ride like that. It just seems like a stupid answer to a stupid issue. Big fail on KTM for that one.
Currently looking at buying this bike. Fuel pickup is only thing that worries me. Must be a fix out there somewhere...especially in the pro race level as they have to know about this.
Dude the start top switch is #1, hitting the start when bike running = no good. It should never happen they shouldn't have changed it. thats the major pissoff.
It absolutely blows my mind how many snowflakes are butt hurt that you have to pull the tank off to change a spark plug. Literally 2 min job with my trail tools. Find a new hobby. Imo the fuel pickup is the only solid issue with the bike. Rest assured the aftermarket will have a solution before summer.
With tools in hand, probably even less time to get to the sparkplug. I think its two bolts total and the fuel line disconnect. Only real issue would be keeping the fuel line out of the dirt on a trail, but other than that not too bad.
Why make excuses for shitty engineering. One of the best things about KTM is how easy they are to work on, they are heading backwards in this area. If no one complains what incentive do they have to do better.

Can you change the map without getting a switch?
I thought XCWs were rad by default, and if you just unplug the connector loop under the tank, it went to mild.

I have 0 issue and can run my tank dry. I'm not riding logging roads though. So fuel is sloshing around.

Ya, I wonder if you can add length to the fuel pump hose and get the draw from the very bottom of tank.
IMS tried it with their larger capacity fuel tank. Everyone that bought it said it did not work. So IMS stopped selling the extended pickup.
Yeah I’m not sure
