      Sorry for the interruption, I know this has nothing to do with the video but its for you, to whoever is reading this and its urgent.
      One day millions of people will vanish, the rapture is near! Accept Jesus as Lord and Savior! And Live a Faithful Holy Life! He doesn’t want anyone to be left behind! time is short!
      Call me a crazy person if you want too, but what I’m saying is the truth and you don’t know and realize, that you need Jesus! You don’t know Him, because you don’t go to Him! He is your only Hope.
      Accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, that He died for you and all of our sins, acknowledge that you are a sinner and that you need Him, repent and ask forgiveness, and believe and have faith that He is real.
      Now once you accept Him, you will receive the Holy Spirit, now while you are alive, read your bible, follow God, and live for Him.

      The landing wasn't what got him zeros, though. The dive he was to perform was 4.5 rotation. He did 3.5, so didn't perform the dive. By the rules he must be scored 0. Had he done 4.5 rotations and landed on his belly, he still would have gotten some points.
      If he would have scheduled a single rotation dive and instead done 9 twists and entered splash-less, it would have been a zero also. They can only award points if you do the dive you said you'd do.

      He made a huge splash when the aim of diving is to minimize the splash made upon entering the water. He also hit the surface of the water flat on his back so I don’t think the entry can even be considered as a dive anymore than a bellyflop would. A dive is defined as "plunging headfirst into the water" which is definitely not what happened here. Lastly his difficulty was given as 4.5 rotations and he only managed 3.5 so even if he sticked the landing he would still be disqualified for that alone.

      The top 2 and bottom 2 scores get deleted, so even if a judge gave him a 10 he still would have gotten 0.

    Can someone explain the rule that leads to being awarded zero? I'd have thought that some marks would be awarded (albeit very low) or the execution of the dive in the air. Does it automatically get zero if the entry into the water isn't hands/head first?

    • @drewsiph18
      @drewsiph18 8 років тому +81

      His dive was supposed to be 4 and 1/2 front flips. He only completed 3 and 3/4.

    • @fantastischfish
      @fantastischfish 8 років тому +69

      I see. But in other sports, such as figure skating and gymnastics, the rotations completed would still be credited, albeit at a lower start value. So if a gymnast performs a double twist instead of a triple, they get credited for the double. Similarly, if an figure skater falls on a triple loop, they are credited for the rotation but not the landing. Hence a zero mark couldn't be awarded.

    • @drewsiph18
      @drewsiph18 8 років тому +48

      +fantastischfish that's interesting. I didn't know they do that in other sports. The reason it's different in diving is because you only have a certain amount of dives you can perform in a meet and you can only do that dive one time. So you must follow the dive exactly how it's supposed to be performed. Being that he was supposed to do a 4 and 1/2 and only did a 3 and 1/2 they completely failed his dive. He also could have done a 3 and 1/2 earlier on in the meet. Most likely in a pike position, but again they cannot be repeated.
