Yep the world needs to chill and mono is chilled to me, good to see a young person with conviction and not caught up so much in the world,,,, plus he was masked off b 4 Corona
JD Beck is the new Keith Moon. Not so much in what he plays, but in that he's the only cat who can get away with how he plays. In less capable hands, the constant shifts from break beats, Dilla grooves, and jungle would be disruptive. But he keeps it together, smoothly, effortlessly.
Je pourrais vous citer une centaine de TRES BONS Bassistes, mais Mr Thomas Junior dit Mononéon est au dessus. C'est un génie comme Pastorius l'était à son époque. Technique, groove, folie vitesse etc..
When I hear this it´s easy to hear how young JD is. He is all about the speed (as most young musicians are) and I hope he starts working on groove and nuance as he gets older. Still a prodigy though, these are just my thoughts, he is clearly an amazing talent.
@@-gbogbo- He's using a combo of fast syncopated patterns with the hat and snare while doing "Drunk Groove" or what I call "Dilla Groove" since J Dilla essentially pioneered it. If you're not familiar, Dilla Groove is where you slightly rush and drag on the one on purpose. Doing so sorta creates this off-beat yet on-beat feel in the context of the groove. D'Angelo is a big proponent of it. A lot of his songs on his album "Voodoo" has ?uestlove (Questlove) doing a lot of Dilla Groove on 'em. Some people quantize the groove as "swung 5 tuplets ( *one* two *three* four five )" but I think it's more of a feeling than a time. Adam Neely has a good video about the whole drunk groove topic here if you want to know more. It's dope: ua-cam.com/video/9MzKx0fKg5o/v-deo.html
- GBoGBo - I understand, it throws me off too,, a bit,, but like I said b 4,, the drummer is testing himself against the groove,,,giv them a lil space, to play,, that’s how we learn and yearn,, I’m 60 plus years young,,, and I’m still learning,, that’s what makes this thing called music so much fun,, but I hear ya,,,,
It is said that if mankind were to send a portrait of our capability as a species into outer space, it would be the great works of J.S. Bach. Obviously that would be understandable and a little bit bragging too, but these three....pfffff
In my opinion, Mononeon doesn't fit the DOMI+Beck style. The first tune is ok, but when it comes to DOMI/ JD's crazyness, he is behind. Focusing on domi's playing then nothing happens with the drummer. It's a cool jam, but not as good as JD/Domi (crazy fucking good as hell from another universe) duets. They are on another level.
Can you imagine? JD is only 16 here. Domi is 20. This is the future of music. Celebrate, all!
No, this is the music, NOW.
The future will be babies. Funk babies.
Domi is 18 here.
Fire
my dad was 61 here
Mono Neon don't need crack. Crack needs Mono Neon.
it’s a symbiotic relationship. one cannot exist without the other
Domi sometimes sounded like she didn't know what to do with her left hand, since the bass dept is handled by this god
Yep the world needs to chill and mono is chilled to me, good to see a young person with conviction and not caught up so much in the world,,,, plus he was masked off b 4 Corona
oh man this is what music actually is about. having fun and being goddamn good at your instrument.
Holy shit what a trio! I wish they recorded the whole show

JD's fluidity in groove reminds me of early Tony Williams
Yes.
interesting
yes 100% and his creativity too
100
Id say he's most similar too Jojo Mayer, who's definitely an extension of tonys playing. But yeah, def.

I had no idea these three did a collab, huge fan of all of em
They are so together and tight. JD Beck shows his versatility in serving the music. Absolutely magical.
Love that transition into Sniff!!
this jam is straight up sentient
that's the best piece of music i've heard in so much time
*Best trio*

HERMOSO ;)
This is great, thanks for the upload!

Huh ! Wonderful craziness !
Dopee
I wonder how beck is subdividing those feels. its crazy o_o
coooool
She was Brown and Round and golden and delicious 5 and 2 just for you no finance no romance
6:00 That bass 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Can someone fall in love with a snare? Asking for a friend.
do they have any recorded music i can listen to yet ?
I keep checking Spotify.. Worth following them on twitter.
domi and jd just released their first single “SMiLE”! you can find it on their youtube
isn't the end the actual cheer they used for sniff on their album?
That’d be wild. Could be!
ósam!
I think I'll get what's happening in about ten years
The ending of this video is the ending of SNiFF on the album.
-_I_ sniff-o-neon...
Hot pockets
this makes no sense
, out of this galaxy
Three amazing musicians...also three weirdos lol
Well, I think we've established that JD can't play funk. He's so far ahead of the beat, he'll be packing up his drums before the song finishes.
When I hear this it´s easy to hear how young JD is. He is all about the speed (as most young musicians are) and I hope he starts working on groove and nuance as he gets older. Still a prodigy though, these are just my thoughts, he is clearly an amazing talent.
Nah this is just your ego talking bro. So much groove and nuance here..
@@samcory6847 Haha....how is this MY ego??
what
He reminds me of Nate Wood
more like himself
Nate wood is more musical and has more creativity/ideas than JD. JD is more of a Chris Dave Imo
@Prep's Casket and I said nothing to the contrary. Read properly please....
The song is great but sometimes I think I don't understand what the drummer is doing in the beginning
Kenji S. Just groovin off beat,,, it works great,,,,groove is funky,,,some called it, tripling on the beat,, or tripling off the beat, depending,,,,
@@rodtrues1 his snare is too early (for my ears)

Has JD Beck every played more than this 1 drum beat in his life
What you mean by beat? Please write down the pattern you mean and at which minute of the video, because there's a lot of different parts in here.
I'm not writing it down, get a life. It's the double time shuffle he constantly does, and variates through the video.

domi could have been an insta model instead of a real class act dame, sheesh the world really lost out /s
