I love how at 4:27-4:31 Domi is playing so fast the synth portamento (glide between notes) can't even keep up so the tone is just sliding around. Wild.
For real this version is so fucking good, audio quality is super nice, the energy in the crowd brings so much more, playing is insane, I get goosebumps every time I listen to it. Thanks a lot for uploading, cheers from France
3:13 where he switches the sticking and the back beat is on his right hand for a while,!! Really frees up the tonalities. After that it’s all more pure fun!
Highly talented younglings on keys and drummer.. and then there's this totally awesome bassist who played an upside down bass tightly while wearing a google with a sticker slapped on it.. Idk if it could get any weirder (for a good reason) than this😅
Holy moly super sick, this is impossible.. JD at '3:05' : "...after I tuned my snare while playing, let's just switch hands, so I can play more sickness.."..
You can't see him very well, but, in the beginning of this video, Mono is standing in front of Domi, on the left. If you didn't know, Mono is a skinny Black guy, who is an extraordinary bassist!❤
He's similar to Louis Cole: small kit with fast snare; JD is more indebted to the great Jojo Mayer. They're both great but Aron Mellergård of Dirty Loops' massive fills really do it for me.
Kashikura Takashi (Toe), Dave King (The Bad Plus), Brian Blade, Nate Wood, Martin France. JD is phenomenal, reminds me of Chris Dave, but if you haven't watched the above, you don't know what you are missing.
I know this song from anime Kids on The Slope. anime that chance my mind to jazz music. And i really love your arrangement. ❤️ Very energic and soulful. Much love from Indonesia ❤️
he had a little splash cymbal sitting on the snare, he simply removed it at that point. in a way, you could argue that is tuning it as it would certainly change the sound.
My instructor in school would have said “I’m not really hearing the changes” lol. I’m not sure it occurred to him that not everyone is always trying to play the changes.
It’s amazing but dude it is kinda busy sometimes I mean I love chops but there were some held back moments that actually sounded the best - the pull beat section was fantastic

domi and jd beck should permanently trio with mononeon. the chemistry is just fucking insane

I have now listened to this a dozen times over two years. Each time I am cracking up with joy.
Ok,, John Coltrane has to be smiling,,,, would love for James Carter to get some of this,,,,,,,,
these three were born to play together...all masters of crazy shit! DOMI RULES!!
Nice update to the 1960's commentary....And just as soulful.
JD is a serious legend. Amazing chops
1:42 Never quite heard a tone like that, sounds amazing
looks like a "whammy" pedal, shifting up an octave:)
These three are so great together! Love them individually too, but this is next level.
best crossover episode
The bad thing is that we can't be there, in person: The good thing is, we can "rewind" over and over!!!! 😮❤
2:34. I love it when the rhythm gets all whatever this is called. It makes bopping my head on time feel impressive.
Like. One bop is normal looking. The second one looks like I’ve been punched in the throat slightly. That’s when u know it’s extra stankalisious.
Sticky and stanky fat fucking groove is what its called
The J Dilla drunken feel
Dilla style or drunken drumming as Pablo mentioned! you should check out adam neely's video on it!
what you are actually looking for is heavy half time swing
this is pretty much the best thing i have heard in my life.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💯💯💯💥👌👏👏👏👌👌
I normally don't enjoy this type of music but this was different. I really loved it.
I hope Andre 3000 sees this ❤❤❤
Had no idea this happened
Even the aesthetic works. Just wish we had a roving camera.
Amazing! These three have so much Talent. And what a pleasure for the ears and soul to listen to them playing together !
Thnx for the upload! Domi vids are so rare lol
Gurami Kasrashvili

that's insane great spot. im not a drummer and that scared me

They need to record this and publish it as a song
Attention dancing in the groove
So proud of these youngins tearing that $#!t up !

THEY PLAYED WITH MONO NEON!?!?!
yah. they play together quite a bit.
I discovered Domi when she was playing a session with Ghost Note. It was one of the best keyboard solos I ever heard.

@TiqueO6 Agree - yep - the point is to be grateful for these talented and hard working musicians.

jdbeck:casually tunning the snare higher in the middle of the performance

Andre 3000 is head of his time
1:39 ... is he tuning the drums on stage??
yea he is lmao, i guess he wanted a different sound for that segment

I think "less is more" is a concept that usually takes time and maturity to develop as a musician
If these kids left jazz and focused on electronica they'd be playing large theaters right now.
hes out dude bro ing him
i dont get how drum and bass became the natural progression of jazz drums...
I heard it evolving this way in the early ‘00’s but now musicians are stepping up their game 🤘

"My Favorite Things" is a show tune from the 1959 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The Sound of Music. (Wikipedia)
