Yeah I mean the fact that they sound so perfect together and also they were both from completely different countries is baffling. It makes me wonder how they even found eachother. Did JD go to Berkeley? If so he probably met domi there.
I'm not sure which of the lumps were intentional and which just happened, but fascinating to see what happens a generation after we thought we were making cut up beats that no human would ever play
JD just turned 18...potential wise, I'd say we're looking at someone where 50 years down the line, he'll be up there with people like Art Blakely, Tony Williams, etc, maybe I'm speaking too soon but you gotta think about his skillset for that age, genuinely a once in a generation talent.
i just learned to play this song and have been addicted to the Coltrane version for months, so hearing this take on this classic is so refreshing I absolutely love these two
Thank-you for your support. Even though I don't monetize this page, I get a kick out of seeing the number at 240K. Apparently you were a big part of that. Really all the props go to Domi and JD. Their talent flies off the screen and into our heart. I can't wait to see them right where they belong this summer at the newport jazz festival.
Most strange thing they don't need each other in musical meaning. Each play in own planet. And when we see this sky full of this gems we can't look away. Magic...
Elvin Jones and Tony Williams and Jack DeJohnette were some of the first drummers to play so free it was deemed "organic" by Bob Moses in his amazing drum book Drum Wisdom....as in it defied our standard notation and definition of what a quarter note, 8th note, 8th note triplet is, etc. This kid is living in this space of beats with everything he plays that anyone would have a difficult time transcribing into any time signature. Incredible stuff, what another legend Frank Zappa liked to call nested tuplets.... mindblowing
insane.. the level of skill here from both of them is ridiculous. They could impact the scene in the states the way Blue Lab Beats has done in the UK..
@Drum's Corner ehh...Can't downplay what Blue Lab is doing..they are one of the driving forces in Music in the UK..not just Jazz, but also World Beat, Soul, Hip Hop and Electronica. JD and Domi are incredible..and I'm hoping they continue killing it the way they have.
They play at the level of the greats no question but even though they did their version of a jazz song that doesn't mean that its the rebirth of jazz. Their style is completely different from jazz. That being said, they are both beast and domi needs to turn her keyboard up!! She sounds so good.
HA! Working on some Chopped and Skrewed VS inspired grooves now... I guess it's like they say, if you think of it, somebody else has too.. GOOOOD STUFF!!
Wtf I'm so glad I stumbled upon this. I just watched Domi play some crazy shit when she was 14, but I like that she didn't just stick to classical. Dude reminds me of zach hill, but like a laid back zach hill. Do they... have an album or anything?
Well we must be given a lot more than we think we are given at birth. Or maybe just some select few. Hard to say and probably doesn’t matter. Not everyone needs to be able to play music at this level. Although it would be nice if a bunch more could appreciate it.
it's already rare that they exist as individuals, but their chemistry is one of those 0.0000001% things

Someone needs to tell JD those loops aren't meant to be played by a human.
One of a kind !
Lol I hope you know "those loops aren't meant to be played by a human" fit so well as "these are a few of my favorite things" @1:14
Did anyone say Squarepusher? 😀
because its not. And hes not even young... we heard a lot of him here in Anlax federation. Hes a romulian from planet sirphenx... .not human at all.
JD Beck has either never been cold or is always cold. He's always layered up like he's in a 90's ski movie.
I think it's his way to show us he never breaks a sweat. Not even under all his layers.
You mean dumb and dumber?
Domi looks like the 3rd member of 100 gecs
Everywhere I go I see gec. Blessing or Curse? No only tree
John Bachner gecgecgecgecgecgecgec

DOMi & JD Beck is my favorite Marvel superhero duo
Yes Spider-Man and Captain America.

this is a lot closer to Andre 3000's Version tbh

uff, both from another star.
so good they found each other.
both are my favourite future jazz wizards
they are perfect band mates as well. The dynamic is amazing
Jazz got thrown onto a computer for 30 years and then came back out like this.
i think jd is really good and innovative but there is something about how domi phrases there is so much to it.
She is a music genius
I like here Bass play. Its like a third Person in the room.
She's absolutely mind blowing. Technics and passion.

Jd is playing the intro to the OutKast version! Great work.

I was wondering if anyone was gonna make that comparison, especially the start bass part. Some sick stuff!!!
