Background on the case:
Dr. Mark Chavez has pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to distribute ketamine in connection with the death of actor Matthew Perry. Chavez, a San Diego-based physician, was one of five individuals charged in the case. He admitted to illegally obtaining ketamine and transferring it to another doctor, Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who then sold it to Perry’s assistant. Perry died from the "acute effects of ketamine" in October 2023.
Chavez now faces up to 10 years in prison. Other defendants in the case include Plasencia, who has pleaded not guilty, and Kenneth Iwamasa, Perry's assistant, who has also pleaded guilty. The case has raised significant attention due to the involvement of multiple medical professionals and Perry’s tragic death.

And Matthew Perry’s case these people were assholes going after him knowing for while he’s fresh out of rehab and easy target. Ultimately, it’s your choice when you’re an addict, I used to be one, and nobody tries to be one, but if you’re fresh out of rehab and people are offering you that they are assholes in general though, I think if I went to a dealer and something bad happened well I’m the one that was looking for it. Clearly, we haven’t made a dent in drugs in this country. Time to legalize and tax/ too big of a budget though as the DEA what would happen to all those jobs?! (sarcasm obviously)

Collier, I didn't know you'd had eye surgery! I'm in the process of having cataract removals w/toric lenses implanted. Distance is sharp as a razor but yeh, think I *may* still need reading glasses. 2nd eye surgery Oct 8; doc's going to try to maintain my near sightedness in Left. I wanted to get the cataract surgery with the lens implants, but couldn't afford it. I will the next time though. It is amazing, and once you get it, you're set for life! Science is amazing!

Hi from Slovenia 🇸🇮 it is mind boggling for me how easily drugs are prescribed in US. In EU all addictive drugs are prescribed in small doses and prescription meds are monitored through central system in every country. Even chronic patients must renew their prescription every 3 months..,

Obviously, Matthew Perry's death due to drugs is horrible and a great loss to his family and society with his talent. The doctor involved here is a cog in this machine because doctors or medical people are likely to be present in these type of drug cases so the bigger question is how does society stop people from resorting to drug abuse to solve their problems?We don't have an answer but maybe more mental health coverage with insurance and removing the stigma to mental health assistance.
